You can make it but it’s gonna be hard. You will need to stay out a minister of 3 weeks at a time. If you look at some of the other comments you can see lots of drivers are sitting for days waiting on loads and miles aren’t that great. It is dog eat dog out here right now. I will always keep it real with you. I wish I could tell you how great it is and to come join my company and it’s all roses. I would love to get that bonus recruiting check. But it’s not. Keep me posted on how your doing though. I would love to be wrong.
Trucking is for somebody who got no life don’t want a life you are moving thing to make other ppl happy why u off for week at a time come home for 3 day back out because the check don’t come with the wheels ain’t moving, you got kids you got a gf wife 90 precent these drivers lost they family because of trucking, don’t chase dollar because you are trading time for it on this road
Get at it! The 1st year is about experience anyway. You will be making the same as normal because you are so green. Don't listen to all these people that wanna complain. If you read into it more, they make terrible decisions i.e. a lease purchase or rental agreement. I clear $1,800 a week, as a company driver and I'm in Houston. Go from Houston to Baltimore, to Kentucky and back to H Town. That's more then I have ever made with any other job. And I'm home 2 consecutive full days after my 7 day run.
"this valley has been riding a lot longer than anyone said it would" This is why I want to get in. Get in before its the golden nugget, and be there with experience when it is.
Finally someone on UA-cam that’s not afraid to face the truth and Reality!!! And never yelled HIT THE LIKE BUTTON 50 x times during the video, he let the video SELL ITSELF!!! 👍😎👍

@RoadScholartrucking what about just finding a local company job, And invest as an Amazon Freight partner on the semi truck side, This will allow you to have a stable income and at the same time build a potential side income
So fuel is about $4-5 gal everywhere. Semis get about 3-7 mpg of fuel depending on how heavy you are. Loads are paying less than 2.00 per mile. Insurance can run a driver $1500 -3000 per month. You have to pay factoring, trailer cost, ifta, load boards, possibly a dispatcher, I feel so sorry for you if you have a note (those ppl are bout ready to bl*w their brains out) tires ($3-500/each), Any kind of maintenance is gonna be in the 300-1000+. So if you calculate the cpm to operate a truck....in order to pay your monthly cost and if want to pay yourself even $ 50.00a week...you cant take a load less than 2.00 pm...which they are not offering. Truckers are literally driving to pay their overhead. It's cost soooo much money to get theses Trucking authorities going that "just leaving" is not as easy as ppl think. And even though company drivers don't have to worry about overhead really keep in mind the whole point of a career is being able to progress. But as of right now there's no future for a driver just coming in. That's not what anybody wants to hear but it's a hurtful truth.
I'm glad to see someone putting the word out about trucking.. I'm a Owner-operator and the rates are so bad from .97 cent or $300.00 for 100 miles.. Yeah u mite say that good but it not the time on that load would be 2 days like pick up on a Tuesday at 12 noon but don't deliver it wensday at 10 am but you be waiting to get unload and please do not believe them about the detention time not unless you are a company or if you going direct through someone you might get detention time but yet no no detention time they're just tell you keep track of the time on the bills so they can keep the detention money 💵... But this not a good time to buy or lease a truck...

I recently left swift after 2 months cus in 2 months I made less than 3k as a company guy. I was sitting on average 50 hours a week. Swifts loosing accounts. I left Dart after a year cus I was a lease op and went from making 1200-1500 a week doing intermodal to making 300-400 a week. If you don't mind otr look into great plains transport. It's a salary job guarantee 1400 every week. And bonus for running hard. The only problem I have with the concept that trucking is dead because 2023 was a bad year is that a lot of industries struggled last year. we didn't hit rescission level lows but we came pretty close. freight is eventually going to go back up because trucking is just to essential to the economy
Im seeing new guys crying over making $1500-$2000 a week, from multiple different companies.. that's more than I make in two weeks, so I'm not understanding how there's no money in it...
@@RoadScholartrucking Were you asking me that? If so, then no... I'm talking about being a company driver making $1500-$2000 per week... I could live like a king on that, are you kidding me? So I don't have bills. I'm an absolute loser (not being down on myself being honest). I'm thinking, get CDL, be on my own most of the time and live in my truck, and earn my stripes. I'm not worried about making money immediately. I want to get experience and earn my stripes...and get away from home. Nothing wrong with that right?
