  • Charles is considered one of the universal and highest talents of English Literature. His novels are a dramatic and ironic portrait of the Victorian Society, analyzed and criticized through the use of flat characters and a reinterpretation of realistic environments.
    Some of his main themes are the exploitation of children's labour, the awful conditions of workers in factories, the alienation of industrial cities, the injustice of the penal code and the selfishness and greed of the upper middle class.

      @@admaioratutor Dear teacher, you are wrong stating that Sharlotte Bronte was not a Victorian novelist. She died in 1855, while queen Victoria ascended the British throne in 1837. Victorian England had a lot of remarkable female novelists such as Elizabeth Gaskell, Sharlotte Bronte, George Eliot, etc.

    Charlotte Brontë is a Victorian writer!

    • @admaioratutor
      @admaioratutor  4 роки тому +5

      Critics are quite challenged as far as her classification is concerned. New interpretations consider her as a Romantic, despite the timing of her works, in fact she sent samples of her major works to Romantic writers to be judged and edited.
      Moreover, her Gothic attitude can't coexist with the Victorian Standard.
      Same goes for Emily.
      Literary critic's work is developing and changing every day

    Thank you so much for this video. I'm studying from your videos right now because I find this method more enjoyable. Anyway, I wanted to ask you the name of the school that you mentioned in this video, because youtube translator makes many mistakes. I looked for it on Internet but I can't find it. Is it called Heidi's school or something?

      Hi Martina! I'm very pleased to know that my videos are helping you and also that you find this learning method quite enjoyable! Thank you for your lovely feedback!
      As for the school, I think you may refer to the sentence in which I was talking about the different elements of society that Dickens strongly criticized. I mentioned "hideous schools", which means terrible, awful, creepy and frightening. "Hideous" is a very particular adjective ☺

    • @37617539
      @37617539 5 років тому +1

      Yes, the word I was looking for was exactly that!! Think that youtube subtitled it as "Heidi's school", in fact I was a little bit confused.

    Sono presenti dei romanzi di questo periodo che non hanno un finale,o meglio la funzione viene lasciata al lettore con la sua interpretazione?

    • @admaioratutor
      @admaioratutor  5 років тому

      Nel periodo vittoriano la trama ed il finale sono sempre sviluppati con una struttura precisa quindi l'epilogo è praticamente sempre ben delineato
