  • This is a quick review of the Alpinestars GP Pro R3 gloves (size large). The R3 supersedes the R2. For more information about Alpinestars GP Pro R3 gloves, visit the Alpinestars website - www.alpinestars.com/gp-pro-r3....
    My observations:
    - The R3 'looks' bigger than the R2
    - Accordion stretch panels make the fingers and back of the hand more flexible
    - The fit of the R3 has more room than the R2
    - The R3's finger length is slightly longer than the R2 and has more room
    - The R3's thumb length is about 1/2 inch longer than the R2
    - The cuff area and wrist velcro strap is longer
    - No protection in the lower thumb area (near the palm). It was offered in the R2
    I would suggest going down a size for the R3. If you fit a size Large in the R2, then go down to a Medium for the R3.

    Thanks for a really good and thorough review. I really want to get a pair of these gloves but I take a medium size and when I try them on, I literally struggle to get them on. i prefer a snug fit as opposed to taking a larger size with longer fingers so is there a way of stretching the gloves to make it possible to get them on more easily? Many thanks and greetings from the UK.

      I too prefer a snug fit. I struggled a bit with my R2’s in size large to get my hand in, initially. I got use to it over time as it is limited by the glove’s diameter for its size. Even unclasping the wrist strap didn’t work. The leather will stretch slightly over time but not by much.

    Thx for the great review. I currently have the GP Pro R1 love them. They've held up very well for 8yrs old. I'm going to get these soon. Is size same? Would I also be XL in these R3's? Thx again

      If you are an XL in the R1 then you should be an XL in the R3. The R2 had a different size fit to the R1 and R3.

    I’m about to purchase these gloves in fluorescent yellow because their fluorescent red looks orange on revzillas site. Then I came across your video and do not look orange at all. Can you please tell me how they look to you? Because if they are truly red, then I’m going to order them because my bike is red. Thanks

    • @bazzasplace7588
      @bazzasplace7588  2 роки тому

      The color in the video does not depicted the true color very well. Alpinestars calls the color a Fluorescent red, but it is more of a fluorescent orange. It is not a true red so it will not match the red on you bike.

      Thank you for the explanation. It’s amazing how a color can look so different.

    How accurately is the camera picking up the color of the glove?

    • @bazzasplace7588
      @bazzasplace7588  4 роки тому +2

      It's pretty accurate. The 'red' on the gloves is fluorescent red (also described by Alpinestars). The tag and booklet in the video are 'red'.

They show up on his video as a bit more on red side. . I was XL in the original R1 version with these R3 I got same XL. Fit fine. A tad tighter around wrist but I'm sure that'll stretch a tad.

    I'm completely confused about the sizing of this gloves, I have a SMX 6 V2 and a SP-2, both large, and it's too big for me, then I think, Ok my right size it's M, and then I bought a GP PLUS R medium, and it's too tight, but then I learn that the race gloves are smmaler, my question is, you have other gloves that you wear that supports that? The GP PRO R2 and R3 really needs to be one size larger then usual?

    • @bazzasplace7588
      @bazzasplace7588  3 роки тому +1

      I normally fit size M for Alpinestars gloves. I fit the SP8-V2, SP8-V3, MM93 Twin Ring and GP Pro R3 gloves in size M.
      But for the GP Pro R2, I fit size L. For whatever reason Alpinestars made the R2 sizes smaller and/or labeled them one size larger. Hence my video comparison of the R2 and R3 in size L. I exchanged the R3 size L for the R3 size M (which fitted better).
      I have yet to try the GP Plus R V2 gloves.

      @@bazzasplace7588 Good to know I'm considering a GP PRO R2 or a R3, so now I know it's gonna be a Large for me if I'm going to the R2, just one more question. The GP PRO R2 fits like the other M gloves that you mentioned, or it's a bit larger?

      They feel fine for street riding during summer. I would have liked ventilation holes between the fingers like the R2 gloves. I use my race gloves in all weather conditions. But they do not feel so great when you get them wet :-(

    I love and hate them both at the same time. Thsoe raised plastics at the end of the tips are making my life a hell. I just cannot ride with them.. i hit the brake lever with them and restricts my movedement. I adjusted the brake but now it's too far and have troubles. I think i need to remove somehow those plastics

    I don't know what alpinestars studied there but i have exactly the same problem, if i take size M then the fingertips are too long and if i take size S the length is correct but the glove is way too tight
    and regarding color, sorry but that is not fluo red, that is orange in my eyes.
    i think the Alpinestars are color blind, fluo red or neon red looks very different then this gloves see dainese.
    In my opinion, the best gloves was the GP Tech and the predecessor of the GP Pro R2 (GP Pro) these two gloves were really great also gp pro r2, but unfortunately the new ones are no longer as they used to be, so I switched to Dainese.
    look at the gp pro r3 the index finger and middle finger don't even have small protectors on them, sorry but that doesn't work, how can you want to save, sorry alpinestars you save at the wrong end.

    • @bazzasplace7588
      @bazzasplace7588  4 роки тому

      I agree with you about the sizing. The GP Pro R2 was different in the sizing from the original GP Pro and GP Pro R3.
      The R3 has the small protectors near the fingertips instead of below the knuckles, like the R2. I suspect it was to allow for flex/movement of the upper part of the fingers.

      I am a size Medium hand circumference which is between 20.3 to 21.6 cm (8 to 8.5 inches). The GP Pro 2 and GP Pro 3 fit differently for the same size. I would suggest going down 1 size for the GP Pro R3. After publishing the video, I swapped to a size Medium GP Pro R3 and this fitted better.

      @@bazzasplace7588 interesting... I started with size XL (R3, that is) and the fingers were much too long... so I swapped to a size L and... well, the fingers are ok now but it's a Herculean labour putting them on, as they are so very tight around the palm and wrist; I'm hoping they'll stretch a bit, but it's been 2 months now and not much progress :(
