I've never heard anything mediocre from the cycles, everyone that buys it knows it's infinite potential, and easily establishes their own authentic and unique sound, without cramping anyone else's style:) It's rare to get a machine that's so versatile, but also competitively priced
Thank you so much for your words! I try to put an effort into making my jams sound somewhat interesting and unique. Therefore new videos are so rare. Also I couldn't agree more about magic some people do with this simple yet amazing device.
This was just beautiful! I have Samples. Makes me want to get back to it! How are you controlling pitch *so* well between full notes? (So far, I can’t get it to be so exact with the knob.)
Good question! In my opinion Model:Cycles really invites you to push it's limits. It's not very versatile in terms of sound design, but if you dive into mangling with sounds results can be both unexpected and very rewarding.
I hope you don't mind randos chiming in here - i'll say i was very skeptical that such basic controls could do much, but i've been surprised like Vlad consistently. It does have a certain range though, but so do most dedicated drum machines.
There are some good UA-cam videos that help show how to get good drum sounds. It also has useful presets, that you can adjust for your liking. I have found, watching the videos, and experimenting with the controls gives me good results. I'm very happy with my Model:Cycles, for my style of music. If you want more traditional drum sounds, you may be more interested in the Model:Samples.
I'm gonna disagree with everyone else and say get the digitone. Cycles is definitely dope, nothing against it, but if you're looking for sound design specifically the digitone outmatches the cycles everytime. Way more power under the hood. You'll have to learn drum synthesis, as the cycles comes prepackaged specifically for drum design, and the digitone is a standard FM synth, buy once you learn drum design you'll get way more out of the Digi.
Excellent work! Really enjoyed the performance of this jam.

Thank you very much, Trouver!
If you press FUNC and adjust pitch simultaneously it will go up or down in full semitones.
@@Chuvakam How did I not know this? Perhaps I need to read the manual. ;) Thank you!
damned nice sounding jam - do you find the Model:Cycles is good for using on it's own, or do you prefer it as part of a larger setup?
Thank you!
Personally I prefer it on it's own or in a micro setup environment.
how do you find the range of sound design for drums on this? i keep debating it or just saving up for digitone, or just scrapping the whole idea lol
