I've used it 3 times now (3 tubs) 1st one I thinned and it was lovely but now I don't I just whisk it up for 2 mins then straight on and it goes on and dries blooming lovely!
I’ve never had picture framing with Isomat premium colour or valspa trade tough durable matt
I’m using it for the 1st time on a job I’m on now but the contract Matt that’s previously on the ceiling is soaking the moisture out in seconds so I’m thinning this 1. The opacity is ok I spot up areas that I think are going to grin beforehand because it does struggle to cover some things in two coats other than that the finish looks spot on really liking it so far
Hi Phil 👋 I used same script as you did in the first video. Honestly I was blown away. This ceiling I did was horrendous. It had been almost brushed by the owners thick brush marks misses all over. They didn't want to spend to have it sanded. So anyway seeing your video I thought I'd try this stuff. And wow 😮 2 coats it was near flawless brilliant stuff. I only use this now. But I agree any filling and old cutting in over colours it can show but I always spot prime before over the bad bits. Thanks for the video amigo 👍
Appreciate you doing these tests Phil as you are saving a lot of other decorators having to do them instead! I was about to use isomat this week for the first time but have decided to give Crown Trades new offering a go... Extramatt low reflective, just about to put 2nd coat on... No thinning required
Should add its £39 for 10lits..so cheapest of the lot so far
Hi Phil. Not a ceiling paint per say, but I've found the new Johnstones cleanable matt is brilliant. The coverage even thinned by 15% is top notch and its class 1 scrub rating makes it a brilliant all round paint.
Mixed colours also great.
Never tried the isomatt so can't compare.
Johnstones vinyl matt is really good on ceilings best vinyl matt on market
Hi Phil great video isomat ceiling paint. Used today on ceiling with new plaster repair after water damage. Flowed of the brush very nice on coving cutting in. Regarding rollling used Rota gold long pile sleeve. It doesn't like to be over rolled very much and does struggle to cover new plaster and touprett filler. Probably better coverage with McPherson trade matt 1at . Not sure yet going to try again and 're valuate . Thanks for the videos 👍
Hi. So you found it not covering over filler as well?
Did you spot prime those areas first?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecoratorTo be honest Phil no. But thought it struggled on the new plaster. Two coats needed a third to be honest
Been using it this morning over old leyland contract. Didn't need to thin as it's so bloody cold in this house (rental) everything is taking an age to dry so Didn't have an issue with suction. Second coat went on lovely over itself again with no dilution. I think I'd probably maybe just put a splash in my scuttle for the first hit if it was a warm house but definitely not for the 2nd.
Good review phil. I’ve sprayed it 5% thinned and it was lovely. Ive brushed and rolled it with no thinning and it was brill. Only thing i found as a negative was that brush and roll i had to let the last edge dry before rolling otherwise it pulled the cutting in a bit. Did you notice that?
If contract Matt said anti reflex would we assume it was a better paint ? I feel that all the new expensive white paints have had a better PR job
Interesting concept. I do believe the manufacturers have done this with scrubbable emulsions, which 30 years ago was just called vinyl emulsion. It was so much better back then and probably still had a negligible impact on the environment!
Interesting about the flashing and picture framing. I’ve struggled with that massively with scrubbable Matt paint. Even when I’ve kept a wet edge ie a wall at a time, I still get it, especially on very deep colours. Luckily most of the time the clients don’t notice. Flashing is a given unfortunately when it comes to any snags on a job. Definitely going to try that paint though. I’ve started to get fed up with Zinsser allcoat, sometimes despite loads of prep it skins. Apparently scuffx doesn’t? Any constructive criticism would be well met!
Hi. Try the Isomat paints.
Premier Color for your Emulsion... You'll be hard pushed to see flashing with that.
ScuffX... On Woodwork... Very good.
Hi phil, nice honest video, i have not tried it yet, what is the recoat time on it, also phil i would like your advice, i have just painted a rental for a client of mine and i used johnstones durable matt in brilliant white, but against the woodwork which was No Nonsense brilliant white satin from screwfix as customer wanted cheap and cheerful, the walls look almost off white. Is there a better option for a Durable matt brilliant white that looks brilliant white??
For the walls in bedrooms i used jonos covaplus which seems whiter. Can you give me a few options that are a nice white in durable and non durable, thanks
Keep those vids coming.
How about like what I usually do with crappy previous painted ceilings, thin the first one so it can soak in etc then the last coat straight out the tin? Does that work well with isomat?
IV got some to use on a job coming up and I'll probably do that just to see.
Crown extra matt is the same
A bit see through and needs spot priming on darker areas to cover?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator yep definitely...nice finish, but poor opacity
An awful lot of fuss about about a flat white ceiling paint
Joe Public will never give it a second look , more concerned about wall colours etc
May as well go the whole hog and get a lab coat
That's why I always give my customers the choice and explain that flashing from brush and rollers can occur with normal contract paint with a large light source. I guess it depends on the quality of work your customers expect, most of mine would rather pay more for a paint if it means a superior job
99% won’t know the difference
Surely it's better to be offered an explanation and a solution if you are a professional? If you were a car salesman and you didn't do a full service on a car before selling it to a customer because 99% wouldn't notice is that acceptable too?
Totally different scenario
I'd say we have different ethics, morals and customer bases in that case
