The '69 - '73 Fury were some of the most beautiful designs ever, imo. This was a great commercial also!😎
Agreed! The fuselage styling was the best. 👍
Indeed.
I would L O V E to have that as my daily driver !! What a great car!
Wow!!! What a commercial. It was great to see the old TWA Terminal 3, and they were also showing footage of the north runways at LAX, very close to my old high school....St. Bernard's in Playa del Rey!! Great to see this!!
That’s real groovy, man! 😎
We had a 1970 Plymouth Fury. You drove it on the weekend and it stayed in the shop all week!
Hey thanks again for finding these ads and preserving them so we can all enjoy them! Always look forward to what you find next... Cheers from the junkyard!
I knew you'd like this one!
My pops had nothing but Chrysler products. midnight blue '64 Belvedere, '71 Fury VIP, '77 Fury.. My first car at age 17 was a '71 Fury with a 360. I'm 61 now. Remember all this stuff like it was yesterday. *sigh*
I was born in '70, therefore this car is my spirit animal!
They were on top of their game when it came to styling back the weren't they.
I want one!!... Miss my 75 gran fury and my 78 New Yorker!!😢
That was Hillarious 😂
I Love the way that car is styled!!
So Cool!! This ad jives with an article on the 69-73 Fury in 'Collectable Automobile' magazine. Historian & former Mopar designer Jeffrey Godshall discussed Plymouth positioning the '70 Sport Fury GT as a luxo-muscle car for the executive set: "the ultimate sleeper. A real Q-ship."
However, the name "Sport Fury GT" wasn't the first choice! Godshall revealed that when the Sport Fury was expanded into a full model line for 1970 (effectively replacing the discontinued VIP to compete with Caprice & LTD), Plymouth initially wanted to call the new performance coupe the Plymouth American Express, complete with a promotional tie in with the financial company. Unfortunately, AmEx wouldn't give permission, so the idea remained just that. But the vibe of this ad totally captured that spirit! Thank you for continuing to uncover great obscure ads!!
Plymouth makes it ! // Dodge . . . Depend on it !
I'm on a couple of C body forums, and that car is the one they all go nuts over, more so than the '70 300 Hurst. Ever check into what they go for now? Right up there with the 2nd gen Chargers.
a friend on mine in high school had one. he put open headers on for about a week. then the police got involved
Awesome commercial 👍🏿
440 duals and a freeway on ramp Nice sound
I miss flying on TWA.
LAX has always been an enigma, one of the largest cities on earth with the most BLAH airports
Amazing design. Those giant Mopar slabs were pretty much the epitome of big ‘70s design. Just gorgeous and authoritative.
At my perspective, the best Fury of all. Plymouth made it.
🤠👍
The choice in 1970 if you wanted a big American 2 door with some style and performance. I don't think that the full sized offerings from Ford or Chevrolet included anything this nice. Thank you for sharing this video.
Yes, but will it out run it's brother the state patrol car Plymouth Fury 440 Commando?
