Frog attacks on dragonflies / Froschangriffe auf Libellen

Since dragonflies have very good eyesight and can react to movements very quickly, most frog attacks on dragonflies sitting in an elevated position are unsuccessful. Here we see a frog attack on a male of four-spotted chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata), on a male of black-tailed skimmer (Orthetrum cancellatum) and two attacks on males of emperor dragonflies (Anax imperator) / Da Libellen sehr gute Augen haben und auf Bewegungen sehr schnell reagieren können, sind die meisten Froschangriffe auf Libellen, die in erhöhter Lage sitzen, erfolglos. Hier sehen wir einen Froschangriff auf ein Männchen des Vierflecks, auf ein Männchen des Grossen Blaupfeils und zwei Angriffe auf Männchen der Grossen Königslibelle.

It looks like the second frog, from where there was a pair of them watching the same dragonfly, got lucky and caught the dragonfly as it was coming back to perch on the grass stalk. Perhaps some frogs figure out there's a better chance of catching the dragonfly if more than one frog is watching the same dragonfly. In any case the frog seemed to get lucky and snared a wing or other part of the dragonfly, and got to eat it!
