You can’t go wrong with a challenger or 6 speed manual transmission. Especially what’s under the hood a NA v8 these cars will still be icons for years they will never be forgotten. The retro styling of the challenger has aged so well it will never look old or boring
"Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack manual a BETTER muscle car than a Mustang GT?" The short answer is "yes" because it is the only one that still has the old muscle car look. As far as an overall sports car vs a Mustang, it comes down to preferences. Let me explain. I have a 2018 Manual Mustang GT. I've raced three Scat Packs (Two Challengers, One Charger) and beat them all pretty good. They ALL had me off the line, then I caught and passed them. The Low End Torque the Scat Pack has is unreal. I catch them seconds later because the Mustang has a steady increase in the higher gears and revs, where the Scats seemed to level off, plus the additional weight they were carrying didn't help. They have 485 hp stock, which is a ridiculous amount of power, however my Mustang seemed to maintain traction better. The best old school muscle car looks = Challengers win easily. There is nothing out there that looks like them. They're beautiful to me. That's not saying Mustangs and Camaros are ugly. They aren't. They don't look old school, either. The Mustang had some of that look with the Fifth Generation, but that changed in 2015. You want room for people and gear, don't care about handling, and want gobbs of low end torque, get the Challenger. You want to drive something American, sporty, fast, and that handles good, but you can't afford a Corvette, get the Mustang or Camaro. There really isn't a wrong answer here. Also, EVERYTHING is better as a Manual. That's all I have ever owned. Save the Manuals!
The way I always read it online and personally saw it as is that the Challenger is a great long distance GT car, the Camaro is a great track car, and the Mustang is a blend of both between those two. That theme seems to continue from the Scat Pack, GT, and SS all the way up to the Hellcat Redeye, GT500, and ZL1
I truly think the 392 manual is a perfect street car. Every hellcat I see racing on the street they are almost useless, constantly losing traction and trying to kill it's owner. Unless you wanna do 90moh roll race. I love the 392 and Camaro because of the manual, pushrod setup.
I had a widebody 392 and was still always losing traction lol. Not bad in a straight line but it was terrible in the corners. I couldn't even imagine trying to daily a hellcat lol

When we have the discussion of which car is faster to 60 or in the 1/4, Camaro, the Stang or either of the Dodges, we are splitting hairs snd how often will you actually line it up? Well, the manual in the Challenger might be stronger, however, the Mustang shifts smoother in my opinion. Also, I like the room in the Challenger, but you can really feel the weight of the car compared to others in its class. Great review nevertheless.

I think the way my Stang is optioned, with PP1 etc., it would hold it's own against this car. It's got wider meats in the back, a little less HP and TQ, but definitely lighter than this Challenger. Depending on the driver, the Stang would likely beat it, not destroy it, but beat it in a drag. The torque curve in these S550's is amazing, so linear and rev to the moon! You knows that this guy is the best car reviewer when he literally said the charger is better than the mustang... and we all knows you are a die hard mustang fan and proud owner.
Even though it's a Scat Pack I still love the Challengers. Truly keeping the classic muscle car silhouette and bringing enough performance for every trim and model that is available. I heard that Dodge will stop making the traditional V8 muscle cars and go electric/hybrid is that true? If it's true, these V8s gonna go up in value not long from now!
i have a new orange 2021 Challenger RT/Scat Pack Shaker 6 speed Challenger and a 2020 dark green Challenger Hellcat 6 speed. both these cars are more fun than should be legal. controlling rear tire spin on the Scat Pack is a task. controlling rear tire spin on the Hellcat is not possible.
Without the sunroof, this car has saloon levels of rear headroom, looks and sounds mean and old school. My dream car because I want to carry my family in it. Go Mango, Sublime Green and Redline Red are awesome, to bad not all of them are always available, Plum Crazy and Indigo Blue are also great. Have to get the manual one.
I wish they'd offer a Jailbreak version of this model with leather interior and the Jailbreak wheels option. It would be the perfect muscle car. I don't need 707 hp.
Mustang lover through and through (obviously 😀) but the Dodge Challenger (and Charger) .. have always been the next most desirable for me . . . totally different driving dynamic from Mustang but they are just pure muscle heritage 💪💪💪
Ever since Joe picked up a Camaro he switched from picking on the Camaro to picking on the Mustang. He used to abuse Camaros in the early Raiti’s Rides videos. With that said, the challenger is an excellent muscle car. The front of the car is on the ugly side. It’s like having a girlfriend with a great bod but an ug mug. I like the look of it’s cousin the Charger a lot more. Excellent video as always. The camera person is out of this world. 👍
@@RaitisRides - No offense but I’ve been watching your muscle car videos since about the time you created your channel. You used to praise most Mustangs and zonk the heck out of most Camaros. The Camaro was the butt of most of your muscle car jokes. Now the tide has turned.
What a sweet rumble this ScatPak makes! The best attribute that this Challenger has over its rivals is that the reliability of it far exceeds either the Camaro or the Mustang according to JD Power, Consumer Reports, and Kelly Blue Book. I was in my senior year of high school when this baby was introduced, but most of us could ill afford the $3000 MSRP. 😉
@@RaitisRides I subscribe to CR, and in addition every mechanic I know that works on all types of cars says that overall, the Mustang is the best built of the three. Not every year, but overall. I was in a side impact accident two years ago as well. I was fine, but the body shop people told me if I had been in the Camaro or Challenger that I would have been hospitalized. Five Star Crash Rating on the Mustang. They said Ford has better fortified doors on the Mustang.
@@vulcanman64 Not according to CR, Edmunds, every mechanic I know, and Scotty Kilmer. I'll take their facts over your "facts'" any day. I'm not going to argue with you. I feel the Challenger is more of a muscle car for its straight line performance. On the other hand. The Mustang has become a sports car for it straight line performance and track prowess. If you watch IMSA GT4 racing or Trans Am sports car racing. You find Mustangs because of it's improved chassis to go with it straight line performance.
For someone like myself that’s newer to the muscle car market and leaning towards this exact vehicle in a manual transmission. Would you recommend it for a beginner Manual trans user? I have heard that it’s easy to miss third gear sometimes and I don’t want to do something stupid and damage such a nice vehicle.

Thank you Laurie! Just traded my 2022 Camry TRD for a Dodge Challenger RT Scat Pack. 👍🏽
Lori is the best!
All I want for Christmas is a hemi! 😁 Great job Joe!
I like the way you think Michael!
Omg! Joe, thay is absolutely amazing and beautiful machine....Dodge has came a looooooooooong way. I absolutely LOVE the car. Definitely the charger all the way, mustangs well thats a different story. Joe, I didn't hear a chirp on those tires my good man. GO DODGE! Ohhhhhh by the way, Lori nice job filming on this review 👏
If it's true, these V8s gonna go up in value not long from now!
yep in 2023 they are making an electric muscle car and canceling the challenger and charger
@@willkaufman8208 oof that's gonna hurt all of the V8 muscle car lovers ngl
@@Raven-uu7lb fr it’s gunna be sad
The change is coming!
@@willkaufman8208 exactly
welp... glad I got mine when I did.. manual.. white knuckle, dynamic package which has the 6 pot brembos, ...oh yeah and "Brass Monkey" alloys.
Now that sounds fantastic!
Everytime I do a pull in my Scat Pack, I remember why I love MOPAR so much!
i have a new orange 2021 Challenger RT/Scat Pack Shaker 6 speed Challenger and a 2020 dark green Challenger Hellcat 6 speed. both these cars are more fun than should be legal. controlling rear tire spin on the Scat Pack is a task. controlling rear tire spin on the Hellcat is not possible.
Got my 22 triple nickle scat pack after only 6 weeks. Ordered few extra packages including 275 tire.
I wish they'd offer a Jailbreak version of this model with leather interior and the Jailbreak wheels option. It would be the perfect muscle car. I don't need 707 hp.
That would be such a great idea!
I think they did manual back on the drivers seat to make the back seats quicker to access
I just wish they didn’t.
I just bought me a brand new Challenger and it looks exactly like this one.
Great choice!
Zonk for not removing the yellow shipping protectors yourself Joe! I’m kidding of course, love your channel!
You’re freaking hilarious David.
I like all 3 American muscle but my favourite is Shelby GT500. Nice review like always 👍
Could you imagine having one of each!
Mustang lover through and through (obviously 😀) but the Dodge Challenger (and Charger) .. have always been the next most desirable for me . . . totally different driving dynamic from Mustang but they are just pure muscle heritage 💪💪💪
So true! Competition is a very good thing!
50 years from now a challenger scat pack with the original "yellow guards" is going to be worth all the money 🤣😅
It's all in the guards!
Not true one bit. I love my Shelby & the Mustang GT. I’m just having a little fun.
@@RaitisRides - No offense but I’ve been watching your muscle car videos since about the time you created your channel. You used to praise most Mustangs and zonk the heck out of most Camaros. The Camaro was the butt of most of your muscle car jokes. Now the tide has turned.
Wow this dodge challenger is a beast!
ON THROTTLE YEAH!!!!!!!
I like the way you think!
Owned several they are truly awesome cars and very fun to drive. Great review
I appreciate you sharing that great ownership input!
Great review, Brother!
Thanks Richard! You’re the man!
Joe, should I trade in my R/T 345 for the 392 Scat Pack?
I would pull the trigger!
R/T is where I started and I went scat pack a few months later lol
Any day of the week with no regrets!
Triple Nickel. Loved it.
Dodge has the best names for their colors.
I love it my boy Joe keep up the work and I love the video lot real true 💯 👍 💯💯💯💯
You are the man!
That’s so cool David! Very good points about the CR rating.
@@thullraven1 the reliability of the challenger far exceeds the mustang. Fact.
@@vulcanman64 Not according to CR, Edmunds, every mechanic I know, and Scotty Kilmer. I'll take their facts over your "facts'" any day. I'm not going to argue with you. Your opinion means nothing to me. Challengers aren't even built in the US anymore. Mustangs are still being built in Flat Rock, MI. Whatever makes you happy. I love Mustangs. I love Challengers, too. The Challenger is just a tad bigger than I want as a daily driver or I might have gotten it instead of my Mustang. Moving on. Have a Merry Christmas.
@@thullraven1 Ford has always skimped out on the Mustang but they have gotten a little better and who the fuck is Scotty Kilmer?
Merry Christmas Joe and Lori!! Do you think you will be able to review the 2022 Lexus ES 300h with heads up display in the new year?
I will do my best to make it happen Dan! Merry Christmas bud!
Can You Make 2022 Subaru Ascent
I will track one down for you!
Joe, out here in CA a lot of ppl leave the yellow shipping guards on. I agree with you, it takes away from the car.
Nice ride Joe .... love those wheels .....
Thanks Rich! It goes well with the color of the car
Man. That car looks good. Love that engine
Same here for sure!
Why is the passenger side tail light all ways not in line where the trunk and the body meet?
That is such a great question.
Can't believe dodge actually made a car that
a) was good enough to goe produced for 15 years and
B) still look good after all that time
Tell me about it! The Challenger and Chargers have been sales successes!
I love your videos. Would love to give a feedback tho. Please add a picture of the exact model, colour, car etc when you refer another car recent of 40 years old.
Thanks for the feedback!
Got a 22 triple nickle scat with the 275 tires ordered.love the video.
That is so fantastic Bobby! Congrats man!
Hopefully my 2021 WD scatpack arrives to Jerry Ulm soon. Can’t wait!!!!
Fingers crossed man!
More into the all round performance of the Stang...I think the Challenger looks good but not into ocean liners. I do love that it's manual.
I like what you did there!
Mustang if you want to boost and drag/roll race, Chally if you want a mean looking comfortable daily that’s fast enough and sounds amazing!
I think you nailed it.
We work for a bunch of different brands but the funniest name is a gm paint that we do here is called pull me over red. Been here for years and I still get a laugh when that program comes up.
That said my favorite color on these is f8 green by far.
Thanks for sharing that Steve!
That is a great color.
Wow!!!!! I'm So Totally In Love With This Car, Also I Will Get This Car After I Done The Driver's Test While I Still Can, Even It's My Dream Car For Sure, Thanks Joe For Reviewing This Best Car From Dodge.
That’s so wonderful man!
I just can’t call a Mustang a sports car.
Keep the yellow guards Joe. 👌💛
luv the chalenger but how is it they can only get 372 hp out of a 5.7 hemi while the 5.0 coyote gets 460
The Coyote is a quad-cam engine for one.
@@RaitisRides suppose that answers your question then
For someone like myself that’s newer to the muscle car market and leaning towards this exact vehicle in a manual transmission. Would you recommend it for a beginner Manual trans user? I have heard that it’s easy to miss third gear sometimes and I don’t want to do something stupid and damage such a nice vehicle.
I just got my scatcpack with a shaker and Dynamics package in red 🙏🏼
You did it so right Jean!
@@RaitisRides omg you responded, big fan ! Me and my bro been watching for a while now
I’m moving to Tampa in 2 months. I’m a professional automotive painter. Would love to get in at jerry Ulm! Looks like a nice dealership
“Let’s talk about what’s going on here” first greatest car review UA-cam channel . We need that quote on a shirt 👕
Lori & I are actually talking to a graphic designer.
Mmmmmm hell yeah buddy that is awesome all the way around!!!! Sound feel smell!!!!! You can't replace it with an Ev specially if it doesn't stop!!
So very true John!
Love your laugh when you are on throttle !! 🤣😂
700k subs by end of year? 👍
Thanks Tom! I think we can do it! Fingers crossed!
