I also love your chill voice, I could listen to it all day 😎 You’re much better with the scientific names and shell location records than I am! I really love your collection of 2022 shell finds, they are so impressive! I especially loved the Cauricas - I’ve never found one in such good condition. The money cowrie and Hunter Volute were also a big favourite with me, I’ve still not found one of those. Liked the little blue cowrie as well; great shape, and for me as well, I’ve noticed that any dark ones will rapidly go lighter after I take them out of the water (same with some erosas and wandering cowries too). I was surprised that you didn’t have an Erosa or Donkey to show us, though they tend to be a bit harder to find glossy. I was also incredibly surprised by your lovely Nautilus 😮such a lucky score, I bet you were over the moon to grab that one up!! The pattern on it is so vibrant… I don’t know if you think this is, like, horrendously wrong, but would you ever consider cleaning/smoothing up the edges of the Nautilis with a rotary tool? It would take away from it though, but might make the shell look more whole in a way? I also loved seeing all the Zoila shells in the background; what a great collection! Thanks for sharing them with us!

Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed them! Yep, caurica are hard to find with all the speckles, but I'm sure you will find one like that soon!
I do have a few great erosa but wasn't sure if they were interesting enough for the video without making it too long. That's also why I didn't show any snakeheads or gold ring cowries. I've been pretty unlucky with donkey cowries on the other hand, but hopefully I'll find a perfect one eventually.
The nautilus was such a suprise! I was basically floating down the beach after that. I did think about smoothing the lip of the nautilus so the shape is nicer but so far have decided not to.
Oh I'm surprised you noticed the Zoila! I thought they would make a nice background, I might make videos about them and some other things from my collection in the future. Thanks for watching!

I found a nautilus shell washed up on the Sunshine Coast 2 weeks ago. Just curious how you cleaned yours up? Mine was covered with some barnacles and seaweed.

Hi Sharon, wow great find, was it still very intact? Yes, this one was completely covered with all kinds of growth as well, I didn't even recognise it was a nautilus for a few seconds. Just water and some scrubbing took off most of the seaweed and algae. Then for the harder encrusted growth I used a small knife, just with some gentle pressure almost all of it flaked away from the shell pretty nicely but it did take me a couple hours as I was being careful not to scratch the shell underneath. There may be easier ways, but it worked for me, hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

@@Notophys Yes still intact and a great specimen. Similar structure to yours.

Congrats on the nautilus shell. Great info and shells
Can you tell me why I have seen silver only nautilus shells?
    Are they painted.... just wondering.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video.
They aren't painted, the outer layers of the shell have been removed and then polished to expose the inner nacre which is silver and iridescent, but you're right it's not natural.

Goodness me, all your shells are so very beautiful. If I really have to name one, I will be struggling between Aplustrum amplustre and Conus coronatus. Hard to remember these scientific names though. By the way, you have a lovely quiet voice.

Thank you very much!! Yes both are really beautiful, I really like the contrasting colour pattern of the royal paper bubble.
Yes the names can be difficult! I usually put up a common name too

@@Notophys Hi again, Paper Bubble is nice, the Royal paper bubble is really stunning. I can also imagine the joy you had when you found the Nautilus shell, it must be much more exciting to find one than to buy one. The background music in your video is nice too. Can I just add a little suggestion if you don't mind - it would be lovely if you could let us have an overview of all your beautiful shells first before you go into detail with each one, you have really tested my patience. Sorry if I have sounded a bit blunt.

@@FlorenceSheung Thanks for the feedback! Yes I will make sure to do that in the future for these kinds of videos, not sure if it makes sense for the shelling videos (maybe an overview at the end?).

I will subscribe if you put the common names of seashells. I am a professional collector and I like the common names. Mostly people who sell shells use the science name.

Hi Trudy, thanks for watching! I usually do include a common in other videos if the shell has one.
