Great tales off the trail. I thought the wind was an invigorating wind but then it appeared the tops were blasting you sideways. Good on you for getting out of the bog. Almost as tricky getting a stove. Well done. See you out there. Mark

1 minute can feel like 10 minutes when you are stuck in a bog especially when there is no one about, I am not sure why they will not allow signage in the lakes, maybe because the C2C is not a national trail yet or maybe if there was signage all over the lakes it would spoil the beauty of the place, as you will have noticed there is no signage on the fells leading to any of the fell summits, you are doing a brilliant job, keep it up and whatever you do take care and enjoy it, you are going to get nice weather the rest of the week.

What a tough day. You overcame some challenges. Stay strong. I've seen replacement "O" rings for the pocket rocket, for sale separately. Good Luck, Rick

I managed to pick up a Vango stove. Extremely similar. Slightly heavier. For £13. The chap in the shop actually said that when the MSR Pocket Rocket 1 patent ran out, Vango and others made copies of it. Which is also why MSR discontinued that and went on to the Pocket Rocket 2.

Where did you get stuck in the bog, going along Greenup Edge, navigation can be confusing going over there, wait until you cross the bogs going along from Nine Standard Rigg, the Lake District National Park will not allow signage for the C2C in the Lake District but once you are out of the Lake District the signage gets better, Stay strong.

I think it was near or on Greenup Edge! I strayed about 10 meters from the trail by accident and almost perished in the bog! Haha, that's a dramatisation. The whole thing probably only lasted about 1 minute, but it did scare me a bit. Do you know why the Lakes will not allow signage?

Hahaha that made me laugh out loud. You're right though, very right. When you get used to doing high miles you forget that 'low' mile days are still not low. Your baseline becomes skewed!

Appalachian Girl UK exactly your low day is still way higher than some peoples high days ,ps I bet you wouldn’t of been able to do that planted tree in those winds 😂

You need to follow your own advice Laura. It’s ok NOT to meet those very tight expectations you set up for yourself. It’s ok to just go with the flow sometimes. Quite often in fact 😏 look after yourself and be kind to yourself ❤️💚

Oh totally, I am my own worst critic, I'm really hard on myself and always want to prove I'm the strongest or the bestest, and if I don't do something in what I deem to be 'the most kick-ass' way then I brand myself a failure. Its a bad trait. It means I have liver experience of how NOT to do things though haha, but I often don't follow my own advice!

Appalachian Girl UK that makes two of us then 😏 Not in regards to proving I’m the strongest or bestest (I know I’m not 🥴) but about listening to my own advice. I’m absolutely crap at that 🤪
