    It is amazing someone catched the ISS with that large magnification, because the ISS flies with a speed of 1 to 2 degree per second (FOV) depending on the elevation angle (the higher the angle, the higher the speed), but the whole moon has a size of only a half degree FOV. So it is a master piece to catch the only arcsec big ISS in a piece of a second in front of the surface on the bright moon. In the 5th SloMo frame are the solar panels of the ISS good visible. Well done, dear neighbor! (greetings from Bottrop).

      The moon is much more far away than iss space station, or satellites and we can see the moon so clearly. So This is only thing this guy can do with ISS
      He should be able to get more clear image than this . do you know why?
      Because the moon is much more far away than ISS , people can see clear image of the moon and the craters using nikon P900.
      I have questions for you .
      If we have 8000 satellites orbiting the earth, can you zoom in at least 10 satellites please ? And you should count them one by one. And name them. We should be able to see the satellites much more clearly than the moon right?
      I bet you can not even find 1 satellite

I bought a used 8" Dobs that looks very much like yours... except I only have a rudimentary pedistal, not a nice tripod and alt-azimuth base. My question is about the mount-scope interface: where can I find the rings and slide mount to convert my 8" Dobs tube so it will mount on an alt-azimuth? Thanks again!

      P&K SpaceImaging - Not to mention the planning and calculating that went into capturing this awesome video. Because of our rotation, the ISS and it's view from earth is constantly changing. Aside from the occasional adjustments to maintain altitude and orientation of the ISS, it's orbit around the earth is the same. So, to capture this view was not only amazing, but probably daunting at the same time. I can really appreciate this view. I was lucky enough to see the ISS with the new crew in trail (about 4 fingers apart at arms length). This was before the retirement of the shuttles. It was an amazing site. It wasn't an accident that I saw it. I knew where and when it would be passing, as well as the duration of visibility. I waited all day and like clockwork, there they were. Docking occurred within 24 hours of that view.

      Nothing you said had any truth and of course you can’t prove your claims because they are unseen, untested and unproven mathamatical theories used to perpetuate the deceit. Not one image of Earth from space is enough to get me to wonder, and that’s the tip of the iceberg. I could site example after example of the obvious and stationary Earth, but you won’t heed. You head is up your science gods ass and evidence and common sense is not what you want to accept. Keep playing with telescopes, maybe eventually you’ll realize.

      Mike Konyndyk why don't you find a local astronomy club, they often have 'open night's. You will learn a lot about the stars and planets. Then you can go home, put your feet up with a nice cup of tea and contemplate on how thick as pigshit you are.

      If you could look thru a high powered telescope you won't be so smug. In fact you will feel really silly and embarrassed guaranteed. But you can believe what you want, just don't think for yourself and keep pretending. The sky (virtually) is the limit. Don't counteract with more nonsense in thru with you minions.

    Hallo. I'm just now looking to get into amateur astronomy for recording objects close by like the planets and moving objects like satellites/ISS and planes. Now, there are cameras that can film at ultra high fps (anything beyond 1000 fps is a start, no?). Question: Have you considered that? Because, forgive me, but you seem to be a smart gadget man at least, but it's not so exciting to see a faint flash go past the moon with a low fps video. You have all the right stuff, just need high fps camera. Red makes one. What do you suggest? Is it so difficult?

    Hi. I have tried to record the ISS twice with a 5" Maksutov telescope and a cellphone. The second time I could distinguish between the central part and the solar panels, but it was too bright. I can lock the exposure with the app i used and ajuste -2/+2. My question is: with which object/scenario do you think i could lock the exposure for the ISS? (the moon, a lightbulb, the sky on daytime). Thank you (sorry for my english).

      Thanks. The Iss will pass this 17th and 26th near 60 degrees but the moon will not be on the sky. While the Moon is on the sky these days I will try to find some Moon equivalent light source. I already see it with the naked eye (it passed above 80 degrees), the panels were very clear (somewhat like your photo but brighter).

    • @willoughbykrenzteinburg
      @willoughbykrenzteinburg 4 роки тому +37

      You understand that there is a such thing as zoom in photography, right? First off, there ARE photographs of the moon from inside the ISS. However, the moon doesn't appear really large like it does here because they aren't zoomed in to the moon like they are here - nor do they have any reason to be. They guy is using a telescope....you noticed that, right? Why? In order to actually capture the ISS from the surface of the Earth, clearly you have to zoom in very far with the camera. So he uses a telescope - which is essentially a giant zoom lens. This means that you would necessarily have to be zoomed in on the moon as well. So, naturally, the moon is going to be really big in that footage. I honestly have no idea how this common sense could escape anyone older than about 10.

    • @supertinyblackhole_8675
      @supertinyblackhole_8675 4 роки тому +2

      @@willoughbykrenzteinburg a lot of people are confused about the zoom in photography. It's actually pretty easy to see the difference. Just take a random object. First, take a picture of it from far away and use the zoom in until it fit on your screen. Second, take the picture of the same object but this time from a close distance.
      That same object will appear different in each of those pictures. The same thing with taking a picture of the moon from Earth and from ISS.

    • @willoughbykrenzteinburg
      @willoughbykrenzteinburg 4 роки тому +6

      @@supertinyblackhole_8675 No, this isnt the same thing....at all. The moon is 250,000 miles away. This ISS is just 250 miles away. A picture of the moon from the ISS looks no different than one from the surface looks given the same focal length and such.. Being 250 miles closer isnt gonna change anything and in fact, most photographs of the moon from the ISS are as it appears over the horizon, so they are actually farther from the moon than someone on the surface would be.

    The International Space Station travels in orbit around Earth at a speed of roughly 17,150 miles per hour (that's about 5 miles per second!). This means that the Space Station orbits Earth (and sees a sunrise) once every 92 minutes! Much faster than a bullet which is approx 1,700 mph.

      Mike c. is it the greatest footage? possibly not, but it appeared at the exact moment it should given we know the path of the iss, for the correct amount of time doing the sort of speed you would expect, at the correct angle.

      There are better bits of footage taken, there is great one taken by a guy called Reds Rhetoric, for instance that gives much clearer sharper images.

    I can 't believe I am wasting any more time on this subject.
    As a sailor I have watched a sail boat hundreds of times (if not thousands) sail up and down over the curve of the earth. It's one of the pleasures of life. What most people don't appreciate is how round the earth actually is and how few miles it takes for the hull to start slipping downwards out of sight while the sails are still sharp and clear in the Nikons.
    As a ham radio operator active in the ham satellite community a generation ago I was involved with constructing and launching ham sats. I saw them launched. I know they go around a round ball because I have been there to hear the AOS and LOS of radio transmitters I hand my hands into.
    As a pilot I have sat over a beer with astronauts at the big show at Oshkosh. They are fellow fliers and we share a passion for flying machines. As a pilot and a physician they felt comfortable sharing issues with me they did not want to talk to NASA about. We were fellows in a grand adventure and no one was lying to fellow pilots.
    OK, now you folks can go back to believing in the flat earth, the moon landing hoax, and whatever makes you happy. But if you are feeling violent stay away from me.

      One of the few intelligent comments on this video unfortunately. I can’t believe the stupidity present in this comment section. There is a new cult of ignorance taking hold of this country(the USA), and perhaps in other places too, like nothing I’ve seen in my lifetime and probably well before that. It’s completely absurd to think that the ISS is some kind of hoax. Not everything is a conspiracy, there are wayyy too many people and different countries involved in space exploration now to fake something as massive as the ISS. If it were a hoax, I’m quite certain that a country not friendly with the US would be more than happy to point that out with evidence.

      Go to a long straight flat hallway (100-200ft). Lay down on the floor with your head looking down the entire hallway. Now have someone start to walk away from you down the entire length of the hallway. Their feet disappear first, just like a ship. At a distance of 100-200 feet, the so called curve of the earth has nothing to do with why the feet disappear first. Especially if it is a flat hallway.
