I love the darker nuances in this one, the palett of chosen notes (and there is a few...)! 🙂Great to see that I am not the only one touched by the obvious magic! Fine fine reaction, sir!
I must say that I have great respect for you man, because of the fact that you are a guitarist, but also a true musiscian that understands the world of music, beyond personal instrument of choice. Keep it going man... you're great!
Channels like this that can provide knowledgeable discussion along with reaction are so worthwhile for a track and band like Dirty Loops. I don't have a music background or any musical friends so I am learning by these bits of wisdom. All I really know is that I love listening to Dirty Loops.
Thank you, i did not expect that reaction from you since so piano heavy, but your emotional reaction came right through the screen and i felt and shared it Thank you Brian
Brian, beautiful breakdown of this truly awesome song 🙏 When I saw you’re going to react to this I thought you wouldn’t like it, to be honest. Thought it was all too flowery and romantic for you. But there you go, got it completely wrong 😉 To me, this is one of the lushest and most haunting DLoops songs yet, and they’ve done haunting in the past, alright… (Check out some of their power ballads on Loopified) I found your analysis so interesting, with that low sustained pedal note, -my god everything in this song hinges around that one G. That operatic vibe too -now that you’ve said it, that Fifth Element scene is so pertinent. It’s goosebumps throughout for me. ‘The next James Bond film score’ is another frequent association with this one, it’s so epic, and seem to have everything in it. The juxtapositions between Jonah’s godamn beautiful voice, the sustained, lush string sections, those crazy Rachmaninov passages -and then those scratchy, badass hits in between -what a contrast! Jonah indeed is a big Rachmaninov fan, as well as Lyle Mays from Pat Metheny Group, as well as Brad Mehldau as well as Keith Jarret, etc 😉 He started singing practically from age one, he says, in his parent’s church choirs, and has been singing all his life, but coming to lead singing in bands only fairly late, when someone asked him if he could stand in for another lead singer who’d cancelled. You’ll find lots of info in his interviews on Stratele Studios channel. Interestingly, there he also said that he doesn’t see himself as a pianist, nor as a singer, but more broadly as a musician and perhaps future film music composer. Also that he thinks, Aron and Henrik’s wouldn’t either see themselves as instrumentalists first and foremost. Anyways, thanks again for reviewing this tune - one of my favourites from the Loops as well. Just can’t get it out of my head!! 🤘🤟👍🤘🤟
To answer your question about Jonah's piano playing. Yes, he went to music school as a pianist, so that's what he's schooled in doing. The singing wasn't really a thing until they started Dirty Loops, as far as I know.
Jonah sang in his parents church choir as a kid, and was singing early on once a performer, so pretty much always had some ability, but of course has put tremendous effort into building his skills. There's a YT short of him warming up his voice with a couple vocal runs which just themselves are astounding to hear... Jonah came from a more classical piano training background then embraced jazz along with the other styles he fuses into his playing.
Nice reaction - I love that you listened it to the end - many think that it ends before the subtitles, but it actually doesn't (listen on f.ex. iTunes). One of the most emotional Dirty Loops songs for me is a real oldie (and very much Jonah): "It hurt's" - gives me the chills every time I hear it.
The soundscapes during the credits give me the CHILLS!!! The whole song merges so beautifully into that end section……. It Hurts is beautiful, and very difficult to sing, I believe-. 👍☺️🤟
Jonah comes from a family of classical musicians, and started both (choir) singing and piano playing in the classical genre. He switched to jazz piano mid high school iirc. Oh, and the animal on their logo is a capybara. I'm pretty sure I remember Henrik stating they're one of his favourite animals at some point. And I think he's the one who has designed the logo as well. Not 100% sure on that one, but I have a vague recollection of hearing or reading that somewhere.
Yes. And I had to pause numerous times to read them because it was difficult for me to read black background with pink color text (which matched Henrik's hair). They create epic music and the credit roll is witty.
OMG they have done it again ..Fantastic !! if this not the new Bond movie theme then this should be, even the title for a Bond movie fits , James Bond in 'When the time is right'...they need to be commissioned to write a Bond Theme or some other Epic movie score...best band on the planet at present.
I thought Jonah was classically trained ever since I first saw the position of his hands when he played… just sayin’. By the way… Have you yet done a reaction to Matteo Mancuso? If not, check out his version of “The Chicken”
Dirty Loops should really, really be engaged to create the title score for a James Bond film.
Music that makes you cry, and i don’t know way…. :)
its magical!

I really appreciate that! I have been in a slump lately and after 3 years of doing the channel it great to get such thoughtful and positive feedback.

Thank you for watching.
omg, yes - the connection w/ 5th Element makes so much sense. I hadn't realized until you said it.

surely the darkest dl song so far...but as usual a masterpiece...

I will check it out. Thank you.
Re: Rachmaninoff Jonah has mentioned him as a favourite composer
For sure. His 3d piano concerto is very present here.
Thought the same...check the little phrase at 5.47...very Rach,..absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for that lowdown, Lotta 🤘🦫👍
Thank you.
Jonah said in a interview that he wanted to get more into Film Scoring, i guess this is influenced by that.
The credits are part of the whole thing really.
Yes. And I had to pause numerous times to read them because it was difficult for me to read black background with pink color text (which matched Henrik's hair). They create epic music and the credit roll is witty.
They allways surprice and amaze....
Ofc. highly classicly trained .

It's a capybara, Henrik loves them😊
Thank you, it looked familiar.
I think Jonah was once part of the orchestra you hear. They all went to a national academy in Sweden I believe ❤🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for the info.
Watch this Dirty Loops interview with Rick Beato ua-cam.com/video/l5POG_WNpvY/v-deo.htmlsi=S6WZFvJvxv5DfJqE
will do, thank you.
😎💥
5:12 6:47 ¡ Man !
I would be honored if you would react to MY solos!
Whats your channel?
I thought Jonah was classically trained ever since I first saw the position of his hands when he played… just sayin’.
By the way… Have you yet done a reaction to Matteo Mancuso? If not, check out his version of “The Chicken”
I have done quite a few Matteo videos including the chicken. Thanks for the suggestion.
@ Perhaps a slightly different direction then… Voiceplay and their version of “Nothing Else Matters” … or “Black Hole Sun”
