Exactly, walking along the attacking hand, a skill highly related to the level - the highrer thelevel the more stesps can be managed to take full control of the opponent´s hand. Using both hands is a safegeguarding measure. Many thanks, Paul, 68, retired instructor of Karate.
How important is it in these drills for the punches be realistic in their reach i.e. able to land if they weren't blocked? Or, is that a later progression? I understand they are purposely slower to develop timing, but how about the reach? Thanks.
At this level the punches are measured to be out of range, so that beginners don't get hit accidentally. There's no harm in being closer if you want to pressure test your techniques as long as both parties are aware that occasionally you will get hit.
I have a question, what do you think of Hung Gar kung fu vs Muay Thai? I watched some Buakaw Banchamek videos, and his kicks look deadly to say the least.
Apologies for the delay in replying, I had taken some time away from UA-cam. Muay Thai is a great art and much more practical for combat. I wouldn't say that any art is superior to another, it entirely depends who is doing it! :)
