    I’m sorry to have to criticize but Foot work is not right. Stances are not complete or low enough, you should have titled this as a “Walk Thru” because it looks like you’re just walking around doing a form . Hand motions are meaningless.

    I appreciate your teaching sir. Good counter Techniques in your own knowledge. Good Job.♥️🙏. But in my own Opinion if your opponent moves his attack that's the time you also move your counter move in baguazhang by moving defensively evading his strikes by walking in a circle motion of baguazhang evading his strikes by a walking circle of a throwing techniques of baguazhang or a Dimakk striking techniques of bagua. Or any striking techniques you want to give him. Thank you sir for your kind Consideration ,& understanding.♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏

    Violates the basic principles of bagua. Strange interpretation. Staying on centerline in the pocket rather than circling, not turning them, dedicating both hands to counter a single attack so you will immediately eat the incoming rear hand, & turning away from them to do it, doing nothing to upset their base, and so stiff that the attack breaks your base, rather than their own, flat footed posture. Unless the attacker is absolutely clueless, you will eat the rear hand by choosing to stay in the pocket and not move away from the rear hand. If you have no chance to move out of the pocket, choosing to turn to use both hands to stop one attack means eating a rear punch at best and them taking your back or stabbing you at worst. Ask your partner to throw a simple 1-2 attack at speed and test this again. Better yet, assume they have a weapon on them they can deploy at any moment. Are you still going to choose to stay inside, turn away from their rear hand, and use two hands to deal with one?

    Constructive feedback: The double palm violates the principle, “do not chase hands.” And it’s more of a rising and spitting movement, while both phases of conceal the flowers are a sinking and swallowing movement. Hooks come with aggressive movement inward. Without the bulk of the glove, that shot is gonna get through. Use your footwork. BaGua is not flatfooted like this. Even non circular movements in BaGua were zig zag pattern. The second movement following the two hand Block is more akin to tai chi slant flying, which itself is a knockover more than a strike. It’s a takedown, that needs to be combined with aggressive footwork to achieve the right positioning to uproot. Here, the blade of the forearm is doing all the work making it more difficult and likely with less stopping-power. Conceal the flowers is grappling, it’s more akin to an arm drag AND/Or a neck clinch takedown. The second usage Block basically is a Wing Chun Bong Sau or Kwan Sau rather than Conceal the flowers. And even in Wing Chun this is a bad evolution of usage because, “Bong Sau is only seen in Transition.” It’s not meant to be a block, esp not on the inside. This standing in the pocket, fielding strikes like this is atypical of BaGua strategy and usage. Of course you can do whatever you want, and whatever you can make work. But for the average student it creates a lot of strategic disadvantages for the application of the style. Move in, change angles, GRAPPLE. It’s what late form BaGua is. The circle and circle walking is from Cheng Ting Hua, a Shuaijiao practitioner, having his students walk the palm changes outside of the wrestling pit. So often we treat KungFu like “Boxing” instead. Use your “Shuai” and “Na” and it will work wonders and open up so many more possibilities. Respectfully 🙏🏽

    Interesting point of view. Not saying you are wrong, but as long as I know. Baguazhang is designed to strike your opponent from the outside or behind. That's why Bagua steps always walk in a circle(circle around your attacker). Unlike Xing Yi step in straight.

    • @thekungfuplatform
      @thekungfuplatform 2 місяці тому

      That's definitely the idea with traditional applications, but unfortunately traditional applications don't ever work in a real situation. As you probably know, most fighting never evolves past a scrap.

    • @kanstehnewbie
      @kanstehnewbie 2 місяці тому

      @thekungfuplatform the traditional way don't work because the person don't have the right partner or teacher to train with. As Bruce Lee said: I fear not the man who has practiced 10000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10000 times. Practice the right way, and then it will work. Why even bother to train the style you don't even believe in. There's a lot more quick and easy martial art to defend yourself. Boxing and Judo are good for street fights fast pick up easy to learn. As Kung Fu takes a long time to master. At least 3 years or more, then you will see the progress. To evolve from the traditional way is good but not discard all of it. Keep the good works up.

    I am from the UK and have studied and taught Yong/Wing Chun since 1980. I want to say that a Bong Sao does not seek to pick up most of the weight from a heavy punch; rather it deflects most of the power. I have lived in Tianjin for 9 years and practice Gao Yisheng Baguazhang. Excellent explanations of your Bagua; keep it up.
