Hung Gar Kuen - Five Animals

- This is the Five Animals set of Hung Gar Kuen demonstrated by Sifu Wing Lam. I'm uploading the entire set instead of a sample because, you know, it's the Five Animals...it's just too much of a quintessential Hung Kuen set to cut up. Also, I've chosen the version of the set that is done without a voice-over.
Note that while this set was already uploaded, I'm uploading a higher quality version.
For those interested, the five animals consist of Dragon, Snake, Tiger, Panther and Crane. The first section of the form, the Dragon section, is the longest section and very closely resembles the Iron Wire set.

this is more like the internal form of the H G iron wire form. guys he is working the internal rather the external. sort of like what the tai chi does. the short hands he uses remind you of the linkage of wing chun and H G...
That is the dynamic tension from of the Ng Ying Kuen Five Animal Style of Hung Gar it a isometric form it is like pushing and pulling a rubber band but using your body as tension when you do this it makes your punches faster and harder when you fight, there is the same form of Ng Ying kuen but done at full speed
When I first heard of him, I didnt like his idea of teaching by video. But decades later, I appreciate his innovativeness. I regret I never got to meet him.
I noticed this form is missing wood water and metal. Is that because of this being on social media or is the lineage just doesn't got the sections?
Is the first form demonstrated Tied Sin Kuen(Iron wire) before the screen fades away and then resumes with the Ng Ying Kuen? Because the first form seems different.

Not that I quit...I just stopped going to classes and practicing. I still remember ALL my forms however XD

The stationary part is very similar to Siu Nim Tau, the first Wing Chun form.
Supposedly Ng Mui, who created Wing Chun kung fu, also created the five animals patterns.

Very difficult form - well done! What is the purpose of the stunted breathing? (holding your breath before letting it out) I've never heard that in a form before.
I won tournaments with this form like 5 or 6 years ago, totally forgot it since I quit kung fu a long time ago :(

Because of lineages, this one is hasayfu hung gar and even so you will find differents branches.
my five animal is different. everyboudy has their way. p.s. the stance how he open his legs in the beginning look like wing chun style. pretty good. keep it good

No, Dragon set of the 5 Animals. It is VERY similar to the Iron Wire but there are differences. However, in many ways, the Dragon set could be an Iron Wire set.

+Nick Hearld you need to do some research before you make comments like that. If you studied ANY Chinese fighting system from a GOOD teacher you would know that most kung fu styles contain forms like this one. A form is not a defence or an attack it is a sequence of movements that teach the practitioner how to use your hips and muscles correctly. So for example tiger and crane form contains all the movements, hand & foot positions used within the tiger and crane style of Hung Gar.
once the practitioner has mastered the form the teacher will show him the applications to each movement in that form for real combat.
It works and it has worked since the shaolin monks developed the first form of kung fu around 5000 years ago.
Do some homework before you insult something brother.

fácil , esto no es 5 animales primero que nada, es tid sin kuen me da la impresión .. la palma chi kiu sao no se hace de forma rápida por que pierde el trabajo interno del chi kung y la postura de a caballo por decirlo así es demasiado baja eh inestable así también en sus desplazamientos.
