  • Years ago I made a video showing how I’d solder my metal JST connectors and fold over the tabs with needle nose pliers.
    Comments pointed out that a proper crimper is the real solution. I took their advice and of course they’re correct.
    This is using the iwiss ratcheting crimper. It takes some practice but it is a fantastic tool.

      I still mess it up occasionally but it is 100% a better solution than soldering.

    I see that the insulator is crimped into the conductor crimp area. Which is not good. It could cause connectivity failure.

    2) Exactly what JST connectors are those (e.g., jst-xh)?

    How wide is the thinnest bit? Looking at some small JSTs it needs to be no.more than 1mm. My SN-28b tends always to butcher these because it's way too thick
