I love the pairing of these two honestly. They are obviously enthusiastic about the instruments, they are knowledgeable about other basses/pickups, they do a great job of displaying the various sounds that come from the basses, and they are entertaining to watch. They are making me want to practice more bass!
Alex Reverberi you are welcome! Thanks for buying one, buying an American made product, and giving me a job! If you ever open it up and see a number four on the back of the tone pot, it was definitely me. There is a 50% chance I did it! Lol
You guys get my upvote just for playing Crossroads on Bass! The tone sound amazing, and the design of the Thunderbird really gives off nostalgic feelings! Cheers
10:30 that's exactly how my bestie and I have a lovely evening together as well. Just two men testing out basses. Nothing wrong with it. Touching each others guitar parts at hipheight.
Far as I can tell, the Thunderbird creates the bass tone I regard as best of all basses. Mahogany is a big part of Gibson's sonic magic and no other brand uses it as much... Mahogany body and neck + rosewood fretboard = terrific tone.
Despite the great Jack Bruce, I never liked short scale basses. The Thunderbird is an all time favorite. In the 60s and 70s I had to have a Fender Jazz, but I loved playing the Thunderbird. Sort of like I wouldn't want people seeing me play a Gibson J 45 in those days. Now I just want a great tone. And the Thunderbird has loads of tone!
I've got a Gibson 2013 EB bass, double humbuckers that can be split. A great bass - light, huge range of tones. Would have liked to see Gibson stick with these as well to refine a bit. Stopped after 2014. Also, think the Thunderbird is one of the best classic bass tones - you can pick them out on records, really deep and solid, cut through the mix.
As someone who plays an original EB-3, I wish Gibson bring back the varitone/pickup switch. The 4 way can get some very interesting tones I also knew exactly what would happen with the strap lol
Now, if Gibson brought back the Victory Artist bass or something new at that level, I might be interested ... but would probably be unable to afford it!
When Gibson release a reissue mid 60s non-reverse Thunderbird with metal cover pickups then we will talk. Heck, I would even accept if they didn't go all in with the pickups. Just make a non-reverse. It's not like anyone else is making them either. It still staggers me that this isn't a thing. Even from Epiphone, who have something like 6 different TBird models. Epiphone is the perfect way to judge interest.
I've solicited Elon Musk to develop energy cells that draw and store power from bass face. Lee could single handedly end our dependence on fossil fuels.

They also clearly enjoy each others company which is a big factor
@@hamishsummers8585 yea there's a synergy
I don't even really play bass, but always watch these.
A bit neck heavy, but...it’s authentic. Classic.
😂👍
I wouldn't say a bit lol
These bass jams are possibly the funkiest on UA-cam. Nice one lads!
Who would dislike this?
Amazing jam!
especially how it was a take on Cream's Crossroads with the late great Jack Bruce on bass
Actually Rickenbacker produced the first neck-through bass in 1957 in their 4000 series. Thunderbirds came out in 1963.
Akshually
You guys forgot to mention the Les Paul Doublecut one has a coil split switch in the volume knob....which does it make it sound very PBassy.
I wire these at Gibson, and I was yelling at the screen for sure during this video! Lol
@@JPegsWorld well, thank you sir for doing such a fine job with mine :)

When can we see some fender custom shop basses?
You guys are having so much fun it’s contagious. The SG would be my preference. Rock on!
I miss my thunderbird now. It was a sad day when I had to sell it. Still has one of my favourite bass tones of all time

Seconded! Harmony was great. I am sitting here with a big stupid grin on my face.
@@kingstumble Ahhh same my man!

Love Thunderbird, but also impressed how good and dense is the sound of Junior!
Great jam to start the show, really liked all the info., thanks!
I know right! I'm pretty much only into metal, but that was really goovy
Slapping seems to be Running In The Family for Nathan
The Thunderbird sounds glorious.
I could listen to you two play like that all damned day.
Always loved the Thunderbird bass. My personal favorite.
Wonderful playing! And great showcase of Gibson bass tone!
IDK why Gibson doesnt produce their Grabber/Ripper/G3 line anymore. Those were their best.
The thunderbird sg bass are right behind those
A sublime opening jam!

I do miss my tbird sometimes but it was bloody huge, especially in the case.
Loved the Jack Bruce opening riff
Awesome jam fellas!!! How can you not love a Gibson!
That Thunderbird sounds awesome.
Going down to the Crossroads with your BASS! YEAH oh YEAH people.
Incredible (again!) - not just wonderful demonstrations, but classic Cream! These guys really should put out some of these tracks out there.
Nice intro jam!
You realize that the lP Jr double cut bass has a push pull pot right?!
Fantastic opening jam!

I got the les paul dc, now i want the sg bass, then the non reverse Thunderbird if they still make them when i van actually buy one.
Nathan just needs the eighties stripey, tight trousers and big hair to go with that TB ;-)

Hehe, loving Nathan slipping some Lessons In Love there. Who plays that indeed 🤣
My chest is thumpin’…!!! In the great way that only a Gibson TBird will cause..!!!👍🏼❤️
Lee's chops are just too good.
"Big bottom
Big bottom
Talk about mud flaps
My gal's got 'em.
Big bottom
Drive me out of my mind.
How can I leave this behind?"
-Spinal Tap
My 2 favorite basses.
that outro jam was crazy
No Rickenbacker 4001 and 4003 are neck through since the 60's to present
Rickenbacker is older neck through initial design... but thunderbirds are so nice
The joy of bass, love your reviews!
Love to have the amp for my les Paul bass I'm using now defunk swr
Thunderbirds make me moist.
Thunderbird bass for life 😍😍
That opening jam.

Can you make a podcast or do a.compliation video of all the starting bass groves on your videos chaps?
Jack Bruce..!!! EB-3…!!! CREAM..!!✌🏼❤️
Is that an amp from the Gibson Inaudible series Lee is playing?
que maravilla!!!! grandes los dos!!!
Guys please could you do a video on the new squier classic vibe basses!?
Brilliant. I hired a Gibson EB-2 for a gig once. It was a stonking bass. Wish they would reissue it---I'd also consider an Epiphone Rivoli.
It sounds cool
That SG sounded great! Just need to find a spare £1200.....
I’ve always wanted the SG to be a 24 fretted bass
The only problem is the SG is neck heavy and 24 frets would make it go towards the floor even quicker.
The neck would be so long you'd never reach the first fret!
That outro though !.......
So Glade, where are knopfler
Show de bola 🙋🙋🙋
Stomping!
How bout they reissue the Grabber/Ripper with propper Pickups?... i mean ebs and thunderbirds are cool and all but this is getting old...
8:38 Ahahaha
I don't understand why people hate gibson's bass?...
Jam is nice, Chibson basses are crap :(
Gibson has grate sounding instruments but daing there quirks. Physically fenders function better and are more affordable.
I've solicited Elon Musk to develop energy cells that draw and store power from bass face. Lee could single handedly end our dependence on fossil fuels.
Seek that
guitar players on bass you can always tell hehehehe
I like the lava lamp. Might be somewhat more interesting than these bases.
Nathan you should be arrested!!!! NO PICK ON A BASS!!!!!!
9 puppy kickers didn't like this video.
wowwwwww
What did they say? A waste of time
Playing a bass with a pick is illegal!!! It's a crime of perverts!!!!
First :)
the thunderbird is the explorers fat brother. real shame that they're both Gibsons..
..read it and weep
But they sound awesome. Especially cranking it through an orange AD 200 bass head and 4×12 speaker cab!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍
