Gang, all you smarties who are saying this is about WAR as the apocalypse (as opposed to the ENVIRONMENTAL apocalypse in “Maison”) get a gold star. The first frame of the video is an AIR RAID SIREN 🚨
The statue with with the wings seems like a counterpoint to the statue that is in chains at the beginning of Maison that Yoohyeon walks up to. This song is more assertive than Maison. In Maison, they are on defense and asking who will fight for us. In Vision they are on offense and doing the fighting themselves. It also reminds me of relationship of Boca to Scream in the Dystopia trilogy.
The winged statue is the Ancient Greek Goddess Nike. Or Victory (Victoria in Latin). It was very popular in Napoleonic France, after the French Revolution, and combined with Siyeon's hand gesture, it obviously represents a revolutionary victory. It plays along to the theme of War as a way to Apocalypse.
I love that they fused dark-syth with psy-trance and their signature rock sound to create this new generation style of industrial rock that is very unique to them. Honestly this comeback is filled with flavour, power and personality
Something I like about your Dreamcatcher reactions is how they instigate comments rich in content. I'm not going to try to discuss the ways Dreamcatcher (the whole team) artistically constructs their message. Here are some thoughts on the content of that message, starting with: what's the relation between war and peace, and what does Vision have to do with it? I think the press conference is pivotal, while the chorus (as in Maison) is central. Several interspersed scenes in the mv show Dami building up to, then launching the Dreamcatcher broadcast to the people of the entire planet. Here we see the significance of the iconic microphone of the album cover. Different from Maison, where it is the heroic Dreamcatcher answering the call of the victims of eco-apocalypse -- we have queen Sua portaling onto the boardroom table and personally zapping the chief Destroyer -- here Dreamcatcher is calling on the world's people themselves to "follow us." We'll give you a Vision! The message is that "a bright tomorrow... a beautiful place for us," can be real, but we have to give it up tonight. We have to march into the teeth of that hill filled with enemies, reload and keep marching. They (forces of oppression) don't have a reason, but we know that we can get out of today's madness to that bright tomorrow. "Nobody can ever break my dream's future." This isn’t a vision of fighting a kind of war to put a different group or nation on top of others - to continue ravaging the planet and the people. This is about turning the page. That's where that dream of peace can be made real. All this is powerful, provocative and inspiring stuff, brilliantly created and performed, more than we have any right to expect from a pop-rock band. I'm so impressed by how different it is from the retreaded angsty outcries that don't go much further than "don't tell me what to do, I'm sick of it and will do what I want to," which is more the standard sound and fury of a certain kind of angry rocknroll fare. Dreamcatcher doesn't have the answers to what this will look like and how to get there. Isn't that what we all need to work on? Or maybe I'm completely off base...
The final statue is a reference back to Maison. I believe that was supposed to be the same statue from the beginning that Yooheon was looking at. In that video the goddess was chained up. Here she’s spreading her wings and ready to start a revolution.
The statue in this MV is actually the winged goddess of victory, Nike. It's definitely a counterpart to the statute in Maison who is most likely the goddess of good health, Hygeia, since she's holding a snake in her arms. She's chained up, surrounded by a red aura of plague, not able to heal the planet, their/our Maison. Now the girls have fought and are victorious against the enemy in hazard suits, spreading what looks like green radioactive waste. A Vision of victory over what ails the planet.
as a metal head and bass, i'm no expert w/ regards to choreos. always hearing SuA is the main dancer etc.. but yes, when seeing them live during the A:SU tour.. man, SuA was like a KungFu Master!! i couldn't figure out how one could move ones body like that...
"Vision" is part 2 of the Apocalypse trilogy. I believe they are showing us the perspective from the future in this series, showing us how the earth looks like when we keep acting like we do. While "Maison" was talking about the destruction of the environment, here they are talking about the destruction due to war. I don't know if that was the idea from the beginning, but Putin's aggression definitely played a role here. In one set they even dance in front of what looks sort of like a huge trident, which is the coat of arms of Ukraine (could be a coincidence though, or I'm seeing things). It is easy to see how the conflict in Ukraine could result in global destruction. It's just a push of a button away. Note that Dami presses a launch button, but it's not for nukes. It's for spreading their message, their vision. Peace. To be heard all around the world. The song is also a call for action, to stand together against agressors and those who are destroying the planet out of greed. There is not much difference between someone leading an army or a corporation, if the result is destruction. Still, Dami said the intention is to resolve the problems in a peaceful way. So, what do we do? There is no easy answer. Dami has an outfit that shows that perfectly. One half is an innocent bridal dress, the other half is simply badass. What I know is that any aggressor only listens to very limited diplomacy, and they need to know that the good in the world is ready and willing to fight them if needed. Whoever the aggressor is, we are more than them. They need to know they will never succeed, the only option is peace. By the way, my interpretation could be completely wrong, any other theory is perfectly valid as well. Musically, it's heavier than Maison, and I feel it fits the subject matter very well. It sounds aggressive and heavy, but also soft and vulnerable. There is the duality again. And I love the fake keychange at the end of the chorus, the crazy bass and the guitar in the bridge. All in all this is a fantastic release!
I would like it to be more hard of a song like "Endless night" because I really like hard music but I think K-pop industry limits the a little but they've been able to utilize the rock sound all way through and that's amazing. I also like it more than "Maison" because it suits the war at this moment. I'm honestly getting tired of the war and it's logical same happened to me in 2014-2015 war but we're keep on fighting and getting angrier and this song suits the mood. It's like an actual reload. Those crescendos made this song for me.
Nice reaction. I keep getting goosebumps all over my body. This is a amazing and great song ! The more I listen, the deeper and deeper I fall in love with this VISION. As we expected, Dreamcatcher is Dreamcatcher ! Thanks.
I love it. The cg is cleaner than Maison. The music is more melodic giving texture. It's true Maison win because they deserved it way before that. But Vision is legit winning material but the competition is rough. I hope they win this time too.
Ah good. If I feel like I'm not giving people something unique they can't get anywhere else, I lose my motivation. Comments like this help me keep going
The only thing that makes me sad about this comeback is that their company told them to promote the song as "Dark Techno with rock", when it's Industrial Rock on their own style. I assume Industrial Rock is not really a thing in korea, so its easier for them to describe the song that way, but still, for someone like me who is a melomaniac, labeling a song with the wrong genre kinda triggers me lol Either way, the song is really good and i loved the MV, i feel like they improved from Maison. Even though there's a shot in the MV where Yoohyeon "lost" her leg cus they where filming a green screen while she was wearing a green-ish clothing.
always nice to hear your breakdowns! \:D/ I originally thought they would carry on with the environmental theme but it seems that the apocalypse trilogy will address more than one potential cause for an apocalypse. to me at least vision seems to have an anti-war message. there's lots of war imagery and in several scenes the word peace. their hand sign at the end could also be a peace gesture.
Always great to see your posts, Paul. I knew Dreamcatcher would bring you back. ;) Great critique of the video. I always learn a lot when I watch your videos so it's even better when Dreamcatcher are the subject.
Back from the dead...lol Welcome back. I figured that Dreamcatcher would get your attention. I hope things are going well. I liked this better than Maison as well. Getting wins might be tough as there are some groups and soloists coming back through the rest of October, but sometimes we get a pleasant surprise.
Heeeey! That first win was a surprise. Let's hope for momentum, and with the music shows, it really is the fans who can swing the win. Great to see you Kent!

Heeeeeeey. Love that insight! It's actually a big narrative device to switch from defense to offence, and this had a real militaristic theme.

It was very popular in Napoleonic France, after the French Revolution, and combined with Siyeon's hand gesture, it obviously represents a revolutionary victory. Nike's statue exists in the Louvre in Paris, and there were many copies throughout the city.
