Hi, I am a 18 year old student in my second year of college now, studying health and social care level 3 diploma extended. I was thinking of working full time as a health care assistant after I finish. My dream job though is to become a nurse. Can I become a nurse through health care assistant? Please reply
Hey Valentina, Great to hear!! Also thanks for your question. To answer, you would need to undertake a Nursing degree at university. However once you become a HCA you could check with your employer to see if they would support you doing nursing degree apprenticeship. If not then you would need to go to university to undertake the nursing degree course which is typically 3 years if studying fulltime. Good luck with your studies and future endeavours 🙂
Currently in the UK as a band 4 you cannot enter the register as a nurse. Band 4 roles are more like assistant practitioners or support worker roles and so you would need to do additional studying at university to become a nurse. Registered Nurse roles start from a band 5 upwards. You may want to look into doing a nursing degree at university
Hi Harry, Once you are on the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) register, you can apply to work for any hospital, providing they have a vacancy. However, every hospital have a different requirement for entry. Some hospitals require you to sit a drug calculation test before offering you the job.
@@RenaeDelaine for registration i need to clear any exm like if we apply from home county need to clear exms as a medical student in uk i Will need to clear same number of exms like CBT and all
@@lizzybola6617 Hi Lizzy, Yes, Nurses in the UK are registered with the NMC (nursing and midwifery council). They regulate the practices of Nurses. You may find my video below helpful if you are in the UK and not yet qualified as a nurse: ua-cam.com/video/ypjZ-VwDp1o/v-deo.html If you are overseas then please check the NMC website which has useful information about the process to become a nurse in the UK.
