@@rckeith we all have to thank you,Keith!Last Sunday i had my first crash (wing cube loading calc error) but in an half hour i build a brad new wing by the RcKeith hotwire foam cutter machine....what else! 👍
@@massimoborghini9724 That's great you can have a new wing ready in such a short time. I crashed mine 2 weeks ago and this was the 3rd wing of this design. So now to make a 4th and a spare.
@@rckeith mine is a simple rectangular wing but it works and it's what i need at moment. That's why cutting need a little time. What are you building ,Keith? I'll have not a surprise if i saw you in a video behind a stealth 1:1 😉👍
Hello Can I control cnc routers speed through VFD in grbl machine I have 5.5 kw watt of cnc router and delta ms300 vfd I am using aurdino mega 2560 + ramps 1.4
I think you can but I have no experience of that. The RAMPS board is limited in the drivers it supports so if you have stepper motors that need more than 2 Amps then it may not be the best choice.
@@rckeith @rckeith i have separate drivers not installed in boards It has different source of electricity My board only used for passing signals . . . Sir Can you tell me pins for controlling cnc routers into VFD or any specific videos from that I can use
Great video series... I've been working away on my own foam cutter using the open builds rails and wheels so this series has been a godsend. I have a question though regarding the wire tension. What weight are you adding to the pulley arrangement to provide the required tension? I'm going for the pulleyed tensioner method but I've no idea what sort of tension is required. I've got a few lengths left over from an old Tekoah bow, they're all 0.4mm NiChrome lengths of about 3-4 feet each. Thanks Keith
Hi Paul. I've got around 1kg or 2lbs. Doesn't need a lot when the wire is cutting well. You'll probably need to run a few test to get a good power setting for the so that its doesn’t drag in the foam. Hope that helps Keith
Hi, Thanks for your comments. I've never used EPP for foam cutting mainly because it's not easy to source at reasonable prices. I only use polystyrene now. I did use XPS on my Hawker Hurricane and T45 Goshawk but I found it was causing me some problems with the dust when sanding. Even with a mask. I use carbon spars and cover in brown paper and PVA glue which makes an incredibly strong wing. I have a video on the channel showing how to do that. Hope that helps Keith
Hello sir please help me I need your help I have a machine grbl mega 5x edge in Arduino mega 2560 + ramp 1.4 homing settings is $23=7 nothing is inverted When I am running homing cycle test by two jumper wires by touching both ends in place of limit switches from minimum limit pins it works well .... When I extend the wire by joining jumper wire of limit pins to my machine approximately 2meter long wiring it starts detacting without getting touched also homing function invers nd going wrong direction nd traveling few centimetres and stops Then i tried again by only small jumper wires it works fine when I am extending the wire by joining jumper wire it goes wrong ... Why please help me it's out of my head
Can you help me, I cant access the bottom menu like macro tab, because my screen are too small, I use tablet and I cant find how to scroll down the software
Hello, I am currently building a 4-AXIS Arduino CNC Foam Cutting Machine. However, I'm encountering some issues. The issue I am facing is that in the GRBL Software, only 3 Axis are showing. The U axis is missing. Do you have any idea how I can solve this issue? It would be great if you could assist me with this. If you are interested, please share your contact information. I would be glad to connect with you.
Follow the instructions here with the latest firmware and software.rckeith.co.uk/grbl-hotwire-mega-5x-for-cnc-foam-cutters/ The U axis is for the older firmware and software
That's super useful, can't wait for Fusion 360 foam cutting post setup. Thanks a lot!
Your welocme hope to start testing on the foam cutter next week. 😀
Another great video Keith.
Thank you
Thank you sir for your great work.
Well done, Keith! 👍😊
Thanks Max

Good work and easy build, but using bow is the best method for perfect tension on wire , I expanded your design for bow attachment it works perfectly
Yes the bow is the best option but my space is quite small so it would be hard to fit in.

You need to use screened cables. This is a common problem when homing.
