  • The US House of Representatives on Saturday approved a bill clearing the way for billions of dollars in funding for Ukraine.
    The $61 billion (€57 billion) package includes economic assistance and weapons. It was passed with a bipartisan majority of 311 to 112 votes.
    The bill is part of a foreign aid and arms package valued at $95 billion (€89 billion) that also includes aid for Israel and Taiwan .
    The package will then head to the Democrat-controlled Senate, where passage in the coming days is all but assured. US President Joe Biden has promised to sign off on it immediately.

    80% of the Ukraine aid will remain in the U.S. America is giving older weapons that are 20-40yrs old and using the aid money to replenish our stocks with newer weapons, all whilst creating American jobs in our key defense industry across dozens of states.

      The 155mm artillery shells, Patriot missiles, Javelin missiles, and missiles for HIMARS are all in critical demand by Ukraine and the future shipments will be new or nearly new since the old stuff is now used up after more than 2 years of war. All of the Stinger missiles are old since that has not been produced for several decades but the production line is restarting.

    Over 80% of these funds are invested directly in the American defense industry, in American jobs and companies. Ukraine mainly receives American-made weapons systems from the 1980s.

    • @giovanni-ed7zq
      @giovanni-ed7zq 20 днів тому +1

      for example you have the 155mm artillery shell, it has an expiry date of 15 years. so the american military likely send around 1.5 million 155mm rounds that have a year and a half on them to be used for the year. it saves the american tax payer cost to dispose of those artillery shells that expire. then the us military just orders 1.5 million brand new artillery shells from the 900 billion dollar defence budget. its a win for ukraine, a win for the tax payer, and a win for the us military because they have to use up the entire budget or its gets cut back next year.

      As a person who has travelled and IS still travelling the frontlines in Ukraine giving food support to the millions of seniors trapped by this inhumanity ..Last week I just served a village. And it is now under Russian control.
      It is time we all stood up. If USA can defend Israeli skies. So they and the other allies do the same. The lines are thin and they are bloody tired. There are not enough people signing up. And due to the “dangling possibility of EU membership”, Zelensky has not lowered age to 19. But 25 with numerous caveats.

    It's a loan. 80% of that money goes to weapons manufacturers in the US. It's more like buying for Ukraine. You also don't pay tax, we pay ax in Europe. You just turn on the money printer and add it to your debt. The US citizens haven't been paying tax since Reagan.
    If we give aid in Europe we pay the US weapons manufacturers. That's using real tax money and why we should expand massively in Europe in weapons manufacturing. We've been paying massive amounts since 2001 while the US gets the oil from the Middle East
    I'm for helping Ukraine 200%, but we need our own weapons industry.
