FACTS and summerslam is a huge event but not a HUGE HUGE event like wrestlemania because the most casual wrestling fans watch wrestlemaina not summerslam.

A historic reign like this is not going to end at summerslam. I don't think Roman is losing till next WM and not so sure about then either. I wasn't surprised at Cody losing though, I prepared for a disappointment and that's exactly what happenned. And if the rumors of Vinnie McMoron being back is true, I wouldn't be surprised if roman goes on to break Sammartino's reign.

Night 1 felt like Triple H booking, Night 2 felt like Vince booking.
FACTS this is both nights of wrestlemania 39 in a nutshell.
People just blame Vince for booking that doesn't go their way. Vince booked Cody 3-0 against Seth Rollins.

People think Cody shouldn’t have won because he faced no adversity. But the adversity he faced was being released , doing all the AEW stuff etc. it goes way further back. That’s why it felt the right time for titles to change hands
Literally sacrificing his health and wrestling with a torn pec just to give the fans a show. He deserved it.
The man is 37, got booked tragically in his first run, started a whole ass new company, left, wrestled with a torn pec, and had one of the best mania build ups in WWE history. He was white hot and the fact that people are still saying he needs to face more adversity is crazy. Roman's out of opponents and Cody's out of bad things that can happen to him.
But all of that is AEW stuff. For an AEW guy to waltz in and beat the greatest champion in our generation wasn't meant to be. If anything his torn pec limited what could've been a great adversity arc. Not saying it was anyone's fault but it really hindered what could've been the story every wrestling fan could've gotten behind. The build to this match was awful. But the last shot of Cody looking around SoFi Stadium will light a fire underneath him. THEN we get the intensity, the ferocious promo work, the story that wasn't told leading into WrestleMania. That is Cody's redemption arc.

The stuff they didn't do is what really bugs me. They had so much filler, but no LA Knight or Lashley. And Wyatt couldn't show up for a little surprise segment? Why not prepare an extra segment to fill any large gaps, like that 20+ minute waste before the main event? There are tons of options.

Last time I was this pissed off it was when Taker lost at mania back in 2014, that says a lot.. It was all written to end there, maybe Cody would win in the future but will it be after he had a great match with an injury? And winning the Royal Rumble? At wrestlemania? Nah.
Idk if I remember correctly but night 1 the commentators kept saying “Hollywood doesn’t always have happy endings” like so many times to the point where I felt the 2nd night Roman was going to win…

What sucks is that I feel as if I already know the outcome of all of this. By the time Summer Slam rolls around, the steam will fade away for Cody Rhodes. People won’t be nearly as invested as they were for WrestleMania. We’ve seen other rivalries and feuds such as those between John Cena and The Rock, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman, and now Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. History tends to repeat itself, and unfortunately, it will most likely repeat again. I hope I’m wrong, and I hope fans still maintain the hype behind Cody, but at the same time, I have to remain realistic.
It feels that way now but if they tell the story beats correctly then they can rebuild the momentum.
Most likely Cody will go back to the midcard or probably even job for a few months and then he'll beat Roman at SS. Typical Vince mcmahon booking.

Two things I'm glad WWE went back on is. 1.) Gunthers finisher seems to be no longer the Last Symphony. 2.) Backlash is back to being Backlash.
Let's hope Cody won't feel stale before SummerSlam because it seems it's gonna be a long term rivalry which if it isn't booked right can make people get tired of the star specially against a babyface.

I get that WWE is trying to make Summerslam as big as WrestleMania, but winning the big one at Summerslam doesn't quite have the same ring to it as winning at WrestleMania in my opinion.
Now however it just feels like they wasted Sami’s momentum for no reason if they were never gonna do Cody winning the championship anyway. Zayn could’ve had the Wrestlemania match and even if he lost we would’ve felt even more strongly than we do for Cody. Cody winning after that at summer slam or something would’ve been insane

This was the BEST decision. Cody Rhodes isn’t ready for the titles. He needs to build his character and storyline. And tbh I don’t think he’s the guy. There’s others who can be much better Champion. Roman is the guy. If you left night 2 upset angry WWE did their job. Who really wants the happily ever after result? Cody Rhodes sorry just doesn’t have “it” but yes he’s a great wrestler. I think Randy Orton, or Seth Rollins, maybe even Sami down the line but I’m just not sold on Cody. He’s not a mega star. And that’s what the company needs right now. Roman saved the WWE. He needs to hold the titles even longer. The story has just started. Buckle up!!!

While I'm certain WWE is gonna WWE this, I'm optimistic that the Roman result could help flesh out Cody's character a bit more long term. The injury adversity, no.30 Rumble return, and prophetic/ideal win for his for Father under the lights of the grandest stage of it all, could really be a "dream shattering" wake-up call that: (1) He has to look inward and realize he needs to do this for himself. (2) He'll need to sacrifice everything and risk it all to get the gold. While it's likely WWE just wants Roman at 1,000, it would be awesome to see slow-grind drama/payoff, considering that's the basis of his return. With a ballsy call like that last night, I seriously hope for the latter. Aside from that, Demon Balor losing to Edge was pointless. It basically positions Balor simply as a hooligan heel that isn't really a threat..
It just feels like a booker t losing to triple h at mania moment, he was supposed to be a top main event face if he won but he was reduced to upper middle carder cause he lost barely got a world title run and a ridiculous accent few years later

I think the Finn losing decision is just as bad as Cody losing, even with the storyline.
Edge loses nothing by losing. Nobody will remember that when looking back on it a years from now, what they will remember is that Finn never beat Edge clean, didn’t win the mixed tag team match, he always looked weak in the rivalry. Judgement Day chose him over edge cause edge made them weak but they haven’t done anything to prove that concept right ever since. Now, the Demon couldn’t beat him. He barely even got any offense, Edge was on the offense nearly the entire match. Where does Finn go from him? He looks weak. The judgement day outside of Rhea looks weak, and the Demon looks weak. If the Demon got destroyed by Edge, what chances does he have against Roman? Cody? K.O? Bobby? Brock? Any main eventer? And that’s The Demon we are talking about, let alone the regular prince Finn balor. It was HORRIBLE. Honestly turned off the show after that cause I knew Roman would go over after that and Bianca going over.
i have a storyline now:
Since the usos lost the titles and roman retained his titles, he's gonna yell at them and some shit will happen that the usos will leave. And sometime in the future cody is gonna cut a promo with roman and solo in the ring and tell solo that if he hadn't helped roman win, then cody was gonna win the titles. This promo will affect solo thinking he can beat roman himself and will betray roman in the future probably have a 1v1 match at a ppv but solo will lose it somehow and then at summerslam cody will win the titles.
Just my opinon tho but I would be happy if this happened.

Everyone was saying that Cody winning at WM39 is the most predictable thing ever. Everyone said they "knew" he was gonna win. So who knows if he wins it the next time.

When the USO's dropped the belt, I was in that moment certain Roman was winning on night 2, because of where I believe the Bloodline storyline needs to go, I think Jey needs to be the guy ultimately, because that is the only satisfying conclusion to the whole Bloodline story, it has to come full circle with Jey coming out on top, likely with the entire rest of the Bloodline doing for him what they all did for Roman for these past 3 years (just desserts). I predict that Roman having his belts while the Uso's have lost theirs, will be the catalyst leading into that breakdown of the Bloodline from within. I don't think Roman will be who Cody wins the belt from either. So that match wasn't so much the issue, but the rest of the matches of the night weren't overall as good as night 1, and neither of the other 2 titles on the line during night 2 moved at all either. Sheamus didn't get his IC win, and Belair has been stagnating for awhile as the Raw women's champ, so the lack of title movement, coupled with less interesting non-title matches, lead to a disappointing overall night 2.
Once we get beyond the Bloodline and Roman Reign's story/title run I truly hope that WWE stops having the extremely long, stale ass title runs. When talent sometimes only have a career length on average of 10-15 years if they are lucky, and often hit the main roster with half or more of that already behind them, there really needs to be more title mobility and moments for each talent to shine. It doesn't surprise me at all to see these talents consider their options and jump ship to other promotions when they realize how poorly used they will be with very limited opportunity.
Cody's winning it. Most likely to an interference from Jey Uso, who betrays Roman sooner or later. Cody will win most likely at SummerSlam, as he is the one who got out of the guillotine, and proved himself to be that guy to take the reign from Roman. It's crazy how far people gave up on Cody, but he's the obvious choice. Difference is, is that Jey Uso is gonna end that year long rivalry not with a title, but a sweet revenge he's been longing so long for.
I was so mad at first but I thought about it and I understand. Romans title reign is one of if not the best title reign of all time and it wouldn't make sense for Cody to win yet cause let's be honest, he only returned 1 year ago so I understand why he wouldn't be able to beat Roman yet. Great match though
Not really. Dude had him down for the count, it was only cause of interferences that Cody lost. He's gonna win sooner or later, because he showed he was more than ready.
