That line would’ve went over in any other crowd it’s literally a tribute show with casual and passive viewers who got tickets for free Ofcourse they’re not locked into the dirt sheets and backstage drama. I honestly think either Punk or Knight should win the Royal Rumble. Both can find their way to Rollins and the World Heavyweight Championship, bc WWE cannot afford to use any brakes when it comes to Knight.
Real..I wanted to La knight or CMPunk to win the royal rumble..but the point of whole royal rumble is making a mid carder to main eventing..basically giving them a chance to world title..which is making the unpopular wwe stars to popular..Since we know that CMPunk has massive amount of fans..he dosent need that W to main eventing the wrestlemania..I want to Gunther or LaKnight to win the rumble..Obviously..for roman its either cody dethrone roman..or roman still continue his reign..i cannot see more than this..❤
I’m imagining that Punk and Knight could be the final two in the rumble and it is a tense showdown, Knight goes over the top rope and Punk wins the rumble, Knight goes on to Elimination Chamber and wins a title shot, and either one of them goes for Reigns and the other goes for Rollins, or they both go for the same person and then we get a triple threat main event at wrestlemania

This royal rumble is primed to be the greatest of all time. The last one I recall being so hype was 97 that ended with Bret, taker, Vader, Austin.
Even though 98 had more of a superstar filled roster in the rumble.. the end of 97 is legendary. What came from it was epic.

The reason the reaction wasn’t that major is cuz a lot of people either don’t know or barely know anything about AEW so when there’s a reference not many people get it cuz many don’t care enough to keep up with AEW whereas when AEW reference WWE there’s a big reaction cuz everyone in the AEW crowd knows about WWE cuz they’re the gold standard 🤷♂️

As a huge CM Punk mark and a great Cody fan im kinda unhappy with both.
Doing it with cody, while leading him to that wrestlemania title win, feel like "Well, we screwed it up last time, so here we go again". Im also not a big fan of people winning the rumble back to back in the first place. Not even in keyfabe its unacknowledged that Roman will fight Cody again. They are primed to meet again anyway.
And while it would suit the story they want to tell with CM Punk, winning the rumble, challening in the main event, i dont think he should win the Rumble *immediately*. And with him its the same stuff, he is already primed for a match for the WHC at WM.
If i have to choose, it would be Punk, but somehow that feels uninspired.
I think that in Elimination chamber PPV, they will not put any world title in the contests, but to decide a no 1 contender for undisputed title at Wrestlemania. On which i believe Cody will not win RR next year. Because just like you said, Cody winning RR again is too predictable.

LA Knight and Randy being in a proper tag team would be dream. Two cocky and unpredictable wrestlers.
I was never impressed by him during his first WWE run so I was really miffed by all the "Greatest of all time" and "Best talker ever" chatter that's been going on. But I have to admit, that promo Friday night, held up to the hype. Punk might finally make a believer out of me. Now, can he meet the current standard of a WWE Superstar in the ring?

Man I LOVE how fruitful and lively the current roster is. Its so healthy. Star-studded. I love how WWE is going out of their way to assure the fans of LA Knights place. Almost like "Hey, don't think we forgot. This man is a star". He's still a star exclusive on smackdown. Raw & Smackdown are really competing again and Im all for it.
Only question now is... what shall the era post WM40 be called?

It really did feel weird when nobody got the AEW reference, it feels like the casual WWE enjoyer doesnt follow any AEW stuff.
The online fans reacted as expected. You have to remember there are fans who just watch online , who will subscribe for live TV and ppv who are not in the arena. The joke landed with them. Not every joke or line is for the same audience.
