1. Giving too much information in response, shoving Leadership Principles into a response without context. 2. Acting too formal, Amazon is peculiar and wants natural/genuine people. 3. Memorizing Leadership Principles. 4. Not being yourself. 5. Smiling when the interviewer is asking serious questions. 6. Breaking eye contact. 7. Asking for another question/not answering the question asked. 8. Repeating stories/not preparing 5 or more stories. 9. Not roleplaying answers/stories with real people. 10. Saying "we did this" in answers.
Never memorize leadership principle. What you should do is to incorporate these principles into a believable work experiences. It's 100% technical and 100% behavioral
As someone that failed an onsite interview I can pretty much vouch for these tips as my feedback flagged a lot of these. Particularly the "we" thing. Big emphasis on leadership and LP's. I also only had 4 stories. Now I have another interview next week and I have a 50 stories and I've memorised the LP's. Which makes me concerned that I've over prepared. I've even uploaded self interview prep on my youtube channel. :/
@@DanCroitor Yea it's a lot of fun. I think I'll keep doing it regardless of the outcome. I'll create some data centre related content too. I might even get in front of the camera :)
@@DanCroitor The interview went good. I think the vids helped. Waiting to here back. Regardless off the outcome, I think your vids helped a lot with my prep. Lets see what happens. 🤞
My interview is very close and I have no idea what to focus on in my preparation. Technical questions, Leadership principles, behavioral things, stories ? I'm actually pretty good at holding a conversation and have always come off well from a personal pov. I just don't want to focus on the wrong things.
Yours is a valid concern: but the process seems a bit hit or miss. The wrong things for one interviewer might be the very points a different interviewer focuses on.
@@lisaa8795 Funny story. I didn't get the job because I was weak on the LP's. BUT guess what? I got another interview a year later. (Next week in fact). Now I know what to expect. Still nervous though. I don't want to over emphasis the LP's.
Quick update: Last time I commented in one of your videos Dan, I was going to do a video interview (a month ago), today I am preparing for the final stage of the interview process, the assessment centre day! I've been preparing tirelessly and thanks to your help, it's been much easier! :) I've got a good feeling about my interview (not trying to be cocky)! I'll update this once I do my interview, to share the outcome! Wish me luck! :D
Thank You Dan!! I got a job with amz! I watched many of your videos! Is there a way to make donations for you continuing helping! Please let me know!!!
Just a doubt, any individual cannot succeed in the organization without the support from team. If I say I achieved won’t it project me as credit stealer.
if you did it, then I don't think; I also made other videos about this including this one: ua-cam.com/video/sVavxCO9KVg/v-deo.html best rule is to say it how it makes the most sense to you; p.s. Salesforce is listening for what you say (i.e. excessive use of I instead of WE), because for them teamwork is everything.

The insight provided in your videos have been extremely helpful. I crushed the interviews. I started as an area manager yesterday. Thanks a lot Dan!

It is certainly a first to hear someone prepping an amazon interview and launching a YT channel in the process. Keep me posted :)
