I actually have found that muscle memory is the best!! when I take a break my turns and fouettés are oddly...really good? idk, I think it has something to do with your muscle memory being the times it’s worked that sticks in your body?
@@carasmart6077 yes definitely! I was going to add to my original comment that you can tell how well Luna has been trained. unfortunately I do not have such a strong technical foundation and I am still unlearning bad habits from learning ballet through observation, so I can barely turn at all and am very easily impressed 😂 but I imagine for people who learned proper technique from a young age, fouettés are like riding a bicycle, you don’t lose the skill very easily once the muscle memory is there.
i defo think there should be a charity that provides pointe shoes for young dancers. i know so many young dancers who never got the opportunity to train en pointe because they couldn't afford it! :((
My friend Kayleigh had started her own initiative out of UK- but I should’ve done more to help get that word out. She’s a balletic angel - like THE most selfless human...& she’ll also hype you up in general life.

i can really relate to stopping a sport after high school. i used to run cross country and have def gained weight since i stopped but it’s such a struggle to get back into it. i think i need to find a new activity because i feel like i’ve outgrown it.
Can you do an outfit lookbook on streetstyle ballet clothes? Whenever you upload ballet videos the leotards and skirts look so cute i feel like you could put them into streetwear outfits.
i really want to get back into dancing and being active. dance was heavily invested in my life during high school. after graduating I lost touch with it. watching this video makes me miss it even more 🥺
thank you luna for making me feel so much more positive about my body in the tricky world of ballet. also never been this early!! I also completley get what you mean about looking in the mirror during barre. something about it makes it so 'unflattering' and I hate looking. xx

I have been back in dance for about 8 months now after the lock down. We were lucky that right before the pandemic the owner of the studio bought another one in a different location with a small stage because it was a old funeral home so we were able to do it there. So grateful to be back in dance and love your videos!

every time i watch one of your ballet videos i regret HEAVILY that i stopped doing it. literally i remember wanting to die every time i had to go to a class, but i’m pretty sure the issue was the environment and exhaustion, because i loved dancing. now that i’m a senior in hs and i do 8-6 almost everyday, i'm tired as hell but i wish i had ballet as an escape like it used to be when i was a kid/in middle school. it's been three years now since i stopped and i started missing it about a year and half ago - literally when i discovered your channel - and i think i just needed a break from it and i should have tried and pursued alone. i never had body dysmorphia or image problems, but the teachers demolished my mental health that was already very low (and literally never went back high lol) so i couldn’t get myself to continue. anyway your videos make me nostalgic and i wanna cry really bad when i watch them, but thank you for putting me back in the ballet world for the course of 10-15min, i like rewatching all your galas and christmas representations just to feel like sort of at home. my favorite videos of yours are definitely the ballet ones because you look happy and free dancing and that's everything i wanna be. that’s what i followed you for to begin with, and every time i feel transported by your ballet videos and i can’t wait for more. so thank you luna, i love you

We come in to our studio (wearing masks) they check our temp and then we use hand sanitizer. We wipe down the barres and tables (if u do school in the morning) we are ALWAYS six feet especially when we are eating. We go into the dressing rooms to get our stuff two or three at a time. My dance studio just closed due to corona and im soo sad. It was only open for a couple of weeks. Dance really is my therapy for me so it's hard to deal with. But that made me even happier that you posted a ballet related video once again! All the love ❤️
Hiiii I just found your channel and I’m absolutely obsessed w you and your journey! Thanks for being such an inspiration and for sharing your heart. I am a ballet dancer at uncsa and I was ABSOLUTELY feeling your pain putting your shoes on for the first time in a while lol
Hi Luna, I am such a big fan and I love your videos. You inspire me so much to be a better dancer and to be positive all the time especially now. Love you so much ❤️❤️❤️
I loved your video it was so good please do more dancing videos now your back as a dancer I find you dancing breathtaking and beautiful and it inspires me luv u luna
hey luna! you probably won't see this but i would love if you did a stretching/strengthening routine! i'm a dancer, and i really want to just improve and that kinda thing too :)) oh and you could also do like a body positivity/motivation series!! love you, thanks for all you do 🥰
I was just getting back into ballet after being injured and was starting to get good again and then Germany closed everything again, well at least everything that is not school, shops and stuff, so now I’m back to zero and kinda unmotivated but let’s see what Luna can do
I can't wait to see your other dance videos ❤ It is thanks to you that I started ballet ❤ I just wanted to tell you this : you're so graceful and super talented so please don't be too hard with yourself ❤ sending you lots of love from France ❤
I loved this video! I recently got back into ballet after a loooooong 10 year break and I feel like my technique and flexibility has improved a ton since starting in January but I’m struggling so much with strength and stamina! I’d love tips to improve stamina especially, and just generally how to get back into ballet etc 🙈❤️
Hellu, I just wanted to tell you that you are a big reason to why I started ballet. I have loved it almost my whole life, I started 6 but quit at 7, and have tried many different sports, but I always found ballet so beautiful, and when i was 13-15 I thought I was way too old to start, but I really really wanted too, like I’ve always looked at it as such an art, which I love. Anyways I was too insecure to start, but I would still do like toe and feet workouts for fun. And then when I was close to 17(my age now) After I had been watching your videos, the pointe shops videos, and ALOT more for a year, I was so in love with ballet, SO THEN this year I started ballet class, AND I CAN NOT TELL YOU HAVE HAPPY I AM, and this semester I started another one which is a bit better, and I am now on pointe, which to me is such a dream come true, I love it so much, and I love you, your view on things, and your ballet videos, and Idk im just so thankful for all of this (:
i haven’t been able to dance for almost 9 months. i had to take a break because of covid. but i also needed to work on my mental health. i think i’m in a better place now, and i wish i could start dancing again. ballet is literally my life, and this long break has been difficult for me. i’m just scared to go back bc i’m probably gonna get judged by the other girls and even my teachers. obviously i’m not gonna be as good as i was before, but ik i could get back to that point with some practice. i just don’t know what to do.
I have a similar experience, and I’m still working on it, but one thing that I definitely found the most improvement is trying to do UA-cam ballet barres as much as you can. Setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timed) really helps the journey. For example I would try to do a video class at least twice a week for a month and then for the next month try to do a class at least 3 times a week. Working my way up. Making sure that I had small attainable goals that showed some progress and kept me motivated. As for the going back to class, last year was my first year coming back after a year break and I was put in a class with way younger girls. It wasn’t great for my ego but it helped me rebuild my foundation blocks. The best thing for me was pretending that no one but the teacher could see me and trying my best even if I felt judged because I knew that I was putting in effort and that it doesnt matter what they think. Know that you have worth regardless of if anyone sees it, that you have so much potential and the ability to do whatever you want. I know that you can do this, it will take time and effort but you will get better. Try to be kind to yourself, you’re going to do great things.
maraflowerinclubpenguin your kind words mean so much; thank you for this. i’m 17 yo and i get in my head a lot. and i totally understand the ego thing. i took a break from ballet for about 3 weeks one time...i was rly on and off with coming to class. i just felt so burned out to the point where dance seemed like a burden rather than a passion. i lost my spark. when i came back, my teacher suggested that i take things slow, which ig made sense. i felt like i would’ve been fine in my normal level tho (i was in the highest at my studio), but she placed me two levels down. all the girls were younger than me and i had no one to talk to during breaks. ballet literally gave me my best friends, and i will forever be grateful for that. but one of my motives for going to class was being able to see my friends. and since they weren’t in my classes anymore it was hard to find motivation. i danced with those younger girls for a bit, but once march came and brought corona to the united states, i decided it would be a good time for me to take the break that i needed so i could fully recover. ofc after corona came all the ballet classes were over zoom, and so i was like hell what’s the point of even doing it anymore. but now i miss it, and i’m worried that my teacher just gave up on me. it seems like she knew i was burning out but she didn’t bother to check in with me at all. im also supposed to be applying for college right now but i just don’t think im ready for it yet. im not trying to brag lol...im fr a straight a student. im smart, ive just been struggling with depression and i have no motivation anymore. online school has been really hard for me, especially since i set standards of perfection for myself. it’s like i don’t even know who i’ve become. when i was in middle school, i was much more motivated and i had such big aspirations for my future. and now i don’t even have it in me to apply to colleges! if my future self told my younger self that, my younger self would never believe it. i don’t know how i’m gonna find myself again. i’m just venting, and i hope you don’t mind. there’s not a lot of ppl i can talk to, and it feels good to have someone listen. my family usually just says “blah blah stop complaining, we get it you’re depressed.” that shit doesn’t help. anyway i hope you have a great night, and thank you again for helping me. i won’t forget you :)
@@nataliefield3794 I totally understand, I’m 18(it’s crazy to me lol just turned 18 in September), I’m applying to colleges too, online school has been really tough for me as well I rarely get motivation to do anything, for me I had to try to get some sort of schedule to even have some form of motivation. And I was always pretty reserved in class, but especially being in a class of 13/14 year olds I felt uncomfortable around them and so self conscious because they were so much better than I am and I was struggling to get back into shape to how I used to be. When we went virtual I forced myself to go because I definitely didn’t want to go and struggle. I’m really sorry about your teacher, I know what it feels like to have a teacher give up on you. It’s really shitty, I hope that if you go back your teacher will check up on you and make sure that your transition is going well. It’s really hard to have your teachers not believe in you but I’ve had to learn that I have to believe in myself to get anywhere and to try even when you’re exhausted mentally and physically because it builds you. As for the colleges I feel the same way, especially with audition videos, I don’t feel good enough to get in because I feel like 4 years behind. As a perfectionist myself, getting something done even if it’s not your best work is better than nothing at all, it’s hard to accept that and to act on it but you can’t let yourself limit your potential. I’m applying to Juilliard but I know I won’t get in but I will be so proud of myself for trying. Growing up is a hard journey, you will find yourself and what you like. Make sure that you take care of yourself mentally and physically and try new things even if you won’t be perfect at it. Also I hope I’m not preaching I just have learned some hard lessons along the way and I truly believe that you can do anything you want an be whoever you want to be. You will make your younger self proud and you will find yourself doing the most amazing things. Know that your pain and emotions are valid regardless of what anyone says and I’m totally here if you want to talk and I’ll give you my social so we can talk more privately if you’d like

Dance really is my therapy for me so it's hard to deal with.
But that made me even happier that you posted a ballet related video once again!
All the love ❤️

I was just getting back into ballet after being injured and was starting to get good again and then Germany closed everything again, well at least everything that is not school, shops and stuff, so now I’m back to zero and kinda unmotivated but let’s see what Luna can do
I can't wait to see your other dance videos ❤ It is thanks to you that I started ballet ❤ I just wanted to tell you this : you're so graceful and super talented so please don't be too hard with yourself ❤ sending you lots of love from France ❤
Can you please make a video to teach us a realistic way to get flexible? Or a mini ballet class for beginners?
I loved the content of this video! As a suggestion, could you show your warm-up and stretching routines for ballet class?

Love to see you dancing and anything ballet related thank you for sharing 🤗👍🏻💐 I go to ballet classes, too. However on a much lower level.
Lunie, you are great, you are the best⭐ Please don't be hard on yourself😚💕💕
I LOVED THIS VIDEO, I NEVER GET BORED FROM YOUR DANCE VIDEOSS

You are in perfect shape! I am going to hit the barre NOW!
Ima dancer too! Ur are such an inspiration! I love to dance! I’ve been doing it for 8 years! Love you!
i haven’t been able to dance for almost 9 months. i had to take a break because of covid. but i also needed to work on my mental health. i think i’m in a better place now, and i wish i could start dancing again. ballet is literally my life, and this long break has been difficult for me. i’m just scared to go back bc i’m probably gonna get judged by the other girls and even my teachers. obviously i’m not gonna be as good as i was before, but ik i could get back to that point with some practice. i just don’t know what to do.
Know that your pain and emotions are valid regardless of what anyone says and I’m totally here if you want to talk and I’ll give you my social so we can talk more privately if you’d like
@@nataliefield3794 also thank you! I hope you have a good night as well
I also stopped ballet when quarantine started, but lol the subtitles at barre was literally my thought process 😂 I loved this💖💖
