The best interpretation and the best transcription I have heard of this composition. Congratulations from Spain, master Chapdelaine, from a village 50 km (36 miles) near Camprodón, the village where Isaac Albéniz was born.
Beautiful interpretation of beautiful music, Michael! Bravo! I'm very glad that it's your interpretation and not a copy of someone else's or some ideal standard.
Senor Chapdelaine, Bravo Maestro! Your masterclass and reflection at the end was fuition. You play the piece with sensitivity and worth playing now. It was not in vain. For Mr Segovia, after playing and teaching for so long, it's best to be forward and forthright with his students. He knew you were bound to be a success, he was pushing you to the next level. I commend!
Michael, brilliant. I use another transcription to play it but your interpretation is ,as we say in Spain, magistral. Muchas Gracias. Los amantes de la guitarra clasica agradecemos aire fresco!
One of the nicest renditions I've ever heard for guitar! Exquisite and original phrasing, excellent command of the fretboard, and simply gorgeous tone and overall feel. Quite inspiring; and now I will take to my guitar and learn this piece once and for all. Thank you Michael!
Very nice Michael lovely sound great video quality to its such a shame the record companies choose to promote rubbish electronic stuff when what your playing is real music
I'd REEEAALLY like to see the thumbs downers play better. When world class is good but just not good enough for impossible standards of youtubers. Lol Get a grip people. Michael is one of the all time greats and his masterpiece performances approach perfection. Most of youtube gets it right. If the Lord had lectures on youtube they'd get plenty of thumbs downs too so take YTubers with a grain of salt. Michael you are a true treasure in a world of misfit fake no talent radio saturating noise pollution. We are blessed to have you. Namaste.
It wasn´t until a man I know played this tantalizingly beautiful piece of music to me, that I realized the intense feelings I had for him, and I knew, I would always remember this.
*_"You owned every notes on every fret, and completely in control of every emotion that you express to the fullness of filling. Thank you for the great play"_*
I watched your incident with the Mastro and I think most people would of quit Guitar. But you stuck it iout night after night. And still play to this day. KUDOS TO YOU !
I'm telling you - your comment would have twice the amount of thumb ups if half of the viewer's didn't die from laughter before reaching to tap the screen. I know I had to collect myself for a bit before being able to engage in any sort of meaningful action.
Nice to hear it all since Mr Segovia didn't let you even get to first base! However, amazing how age and maturity affect ones playing. Very very nice Michael.
You don't advance the art if you don't try things. There is NO harm in finding different ways. It happens all the time in health care. This is the incredible creativity of free human beings, God didn't ordain Segovia or anyone to be the absolute authority on earth for classical guitar. amazing what you can get out of 6 strings and a wooden box!
Mr. Chapdelaine: You finally added some "portamentos"! haha Nowadays many of Segovia's concepts are totally old fashioned. Like adding portamentos to everything, even to Bach... I liked your "masterclass" version
always 2 cameras on all the time. usually both are static. if you see the image move relative to the shot, then someone is moving that camera. (Mallorca and Somebody). i certainly prefer the have humans running cameras, but can't afford it often.
I wonder whether Segovia would find any fault with this performance. It sounded flawless to me, but he was the uber expert on how music should be played. At least, that's what I'm told. I'll bet your mic costs more than my Michael Thames guitar. Great sound.
James Roby And I care why you think that? Please, go somewhere else with your trolling.. And I am sorry if you didn't realize it, but you are essentially saying that the music you like sucks, as this is what traditional western music originates from. (Classical music, if you didn't get the hint....)
This is the PIECE Michael was trying to play in front of Andres Segovia's masterclass where Andres Segovia bullied him to the core and TOLD HIM TO GET OUT. Andres Segovia's favorite STUDENT, One of the world's true Classical Grandmasters. KUDOS. R.I.P Maestro Michael Chapdelaine.
Michael Thames made that guitar and was the cameraman for the close in video. A great luthier and dear friend for 3 decades. He has distanced recently but I still love him.
Michael, please indulge a couple of technical questions concerning your videos of late. Are these being filmed by someone else with 2 cameras, or are you doing a 2 camera setup yourself, or merely recording 2 video takes and editing them with one audio take?
"If you give me my trascription, play my transcription! Otherwise go to another one who does better transcriptions than me. Fuera!" Who knows the situation I'm referring to? :-D I think Chapdelaine thinks about that every time he plays Mallorca!
I checked out the video of your critique. In my view, Segovia is doing a great disservice to classical guitar here. Historically speaking, the ink was barely dry on this piece and he's ready to fossilize it to the point that one can't even change the fingering. Imagine if Hedges had performed "Aerial Boundaries" for the old man. He'd probably stroke out. This IS the golden age of fingerstyle while classical guitar is sadly relegated to the Ivory Tower of erudition built by Segovia & others.
Sad to learn of his recent passing. Great guitarrist across different styles and a great human being.

Masterful Michael.
I am man enough to admit this brought a tear to my eye. My God you are an amazing guitarist.
17 downvoters still use Segovia's fingerings.
I'm glad that you still play classical guitar!!! Beautiful version!
beautiful music - super
Michael, brilliant. I use another transcription to play it but your interpretation is ,as we say in Spain, magistral.
Muchas Gracias. Los amantes de la guitarra clasica agradecemos aire fresco!
Oh... my... This is just... I can't explain it. Incredible doesnt even come close. Outstanding, literally music to my ears. Perfect.
Grand Master of timing!!!! exquisite beauty....bravissimo!!
Passion player...I love it...good work sir
One of the nicest renditions I've ever heard for guitar! Exquisite and original phrasing, excellent command of the fretboard, and simply gorgeous tone and overall feel. Quite inspiring; and now I will take to my guitar and learn this piece once and for all. Thank you Michael!
Es un verdadero maestro con su estilo original. Congratulaciones.
It sounds like from heaven, thank you so much
It will be fine to watch one day glimpses from Chapdelaine Master's Classes.
Incredible beautiful!
Bream's version of this has long been my favorite, but this is right up there. Most exciting classical guitar piece I've heard in a while.
How beautiful is this, I can't help it, I'm in love
Great production and performance as usual Mike, thanks for posting.
VERY Beautiful!!!
Very nice Michael lovely sound great video quality to its such a shame the record companies choose to promote rubbish electronic stuff when what your playing is real music
Magical playing!

Magnifique monsieur Chapdelaine, always a pleasure to hear those beautiful melodies you create. Merci!
Great tone/phrasing
That sound is incredible rich and deep
thank you Tapac:
Michael Thames made the guitar.
It wasn´t until a man I know played this tantalizingly beautiful piece of music to me, that I realized the intense feelings I had for him, and I knew, I would always remember this.
Isn't it wonderful how music can do that for us? Nicely put.
*_"You owned every notes on every fret, and completely in control of every emotion that you express to the fullness of filling. Thank you for the great play"_*
lovely...thank you, again...(sound is so crisp, every note rings!)
Very nice, toujours un plaisir de t'entendre jouer. Ciao! from Québec
Amazing playing and incredible guitar.
I watched your incident with the Mastro and I think most people would of quit Guitar. But you stuck it iout night after night. And still play to this day. KUDOS TO YOU !
Your comment on the "incident." Made my day! :)) Fantastic as usual, I always love hearing anything from you.
Ba pe po po pi po ba

Lmao
wonderful recording ....elegant playing and remarkable guitar.
que buena interpretacion ,felisidades ,
Nice to hear it all since Mr Segovia didn't let you even get to first base! However, amazing how age and maturity affect ones playing. Very very nice Michael.
Please show us more classical guitar....
Stunning performance, such feeling, Maestro! I am inspired!

i just love this...and keep returning
Fabuloso.
Love that ending such range and power
Wow! That was amazing.
Maestro!!!!!!!!
Beautiful song
Mr. Chapdelaine: You finally added some "portamentos"! haha Nowadays many of Segovia's concepts are totally old fashioned. Like adding portamentos to everything, even to Bach... I liked your "masterclass" version
Beautiful! It's said that the sign of a good teacher is that the student is better than the maestro...hearing you play is proof of the truth in that.
Genialne!!!
always 2 cameras on all the time. usually both are static. if you see the image move relative to the shot, then someone is moving that camera. (Mallorca and Somebody). i certainly prefer the have humans running cameras, but can't afford it often.
Thank you for sharing yourself.
Excellent performance!
Really beautyfull!
Noone plays Mallora (Suite Espanola) as well as Bream....but Chapdelaine you're getting there! I'm floored - beautiful
Steve
Beautiful piece! fantastic and very personal interpretation!
Marvelous!!!
Excellent interpretation. Well done, my man. Well done.
Wow! The quality of your playing is very beautiful. I like your style.
Glad you're taking your metaphorical "revenge" over the maestro, he would probably agree this was a beautiful interpretation :)
I wonder whether Segovia would find any fault with this performance. It sounded flawless to me, but he was the uber expert on how music should be played. At least, that's what I'm told. I'll bet your mic costs more than my Michael Thames guitar. Great sound.
I think this sounds way better than when you did it back at the segovia masterclass! (of course with all those years of playing) Awesome tune
It would be difficult to improve that interpretation. Exquisite..
Excellent.
You cut all the portamentos.
BRAVO!!!!!
I would love to this wonderful piece arranged for an orchestra..
James Roby And I care why you think that?
Please, go somewhere else with your trolling..
And I am sorry if you didn't realize it, but you are essentially saying that the music you like sucks, as this is what traditional western music originates from. (Classical music, if you didn't get the hint....)
I love your sugary sound!!! Beautiful.
I like the sound of thumb, very noble
Please "continue" forever!
You are El Maestro Michael !
Love the sound of the Michael Thames guitar! did I spy a tornavoz inside it?
GREAT!
😢RIP❤..Mr .Chapselaine
This is absoultely stunning. Best version of Mallorca that I've ever heard. On which planet did they build that guitar?
Michael, you could tell us videos brands of guitars you use. We would learn a lot about this. Hugs.
I think it's a Michael Thames guitar. Very refined sound IMO.
This is the PIECE Michael was trying to play in front of Andres Segovia's masterclass where Andres Segovia bullied him to the core and TOLD HIM TO GET OUT.
Andres Segovia's favorite STUDENT, One of the world's true Classical Grandmasters. KUDOS.
R.I.P Maestro Michael Chapdelaine.
you are playing wonderfully, tell me please,What is your guitar?
is your arrangement available by any chance Michael?
No, is Segovia's arrangement
Segovia's gone, you are the maestro now!
What luthier made that guitar? I would be grateful for this information. Thanks.
Michael Thames made that guitar and was the cameraman for the close in video. A great luthier and dear friend for 3 decades. He has distanced recently but I still love him.
@@MichaelChapdelaineofficial
Much appreciated!
Like and subscribed! Your videos are great!
Very nice....based on maestro Chapdelaine's own interpretation...
Legendary guitarist
R.I.P maestro ❤
Tutorial! that would be amazing.
What kind of microphone? Is it directly connected to your camera?
RIP Michael passed away this Nov.
Michael, please indulge a couple of technical questions concerning your videos of late. Are these being filmed by someone else with 2 cameras, or are you doing a 2 camera setup yourself, or merely recording 2 video takes and editing them with one audio take?
Curious, what mics are you using for this?
Of course, the skill is amazing, but the interpretation and expression are wonderful.
"If you give me my trascription, play my transcription! Otherwise go to another one who does better transcriptions than me. Fuera!" Who knows the situation I'm referring to? :-D I think Chapdelaine thinks about that every time he plays Mallorca!
no, Guitar Fan, I love music too much to share my attention with unpleasant things in the past.
I have your cd

The comment section is wonderful! With all the Segovian quotations ahahaha too funny!
"I think is good"
lmao
very clean and enjoyable to listen to, but i personally think the timing is slightly too fast
Oh no, played without portamentos!
Only joking, outstanding interpretation.
Holy Toledo dude near perfection
I just hate that you didn't use Segovias fingerings.
