Don't drill into your fender, when I installed mine I used hollow bolts from Amazon and they worked flawless. I made a short video here on UA-cam.

@@customdynamics of course, maybe you guys should throw those bolts in your kits. Many of us are wimps and don't want to drill into our shiny bikes.
