Prices need to come down on kits for it to really catch on. I live in way northern mi we have 4ft plus of snow now and I only know a few people with kits. We all want one just to much money still.
Agreed, you can practically buy a new sled for that price.
@@zachthompson5670 or get 4 tracks for a quad whats built stronger. but some how the same price
Buy a used one?
@@bam18333333 buying a used one at the price of a new one?
U can find used kits for 3000ish prob get for 2500$
I would go away from what´s said in this video and recommend running a longer track if you´re on the lower side of power, 125 (2 stroke)/250 (4 stroke) works pretty good with 137" with 2" paddle. The reason for this is that the lower power often comes with lighter weight and therefor a bigger area to distribute the weight equals less pressure. As this makes the bike float easier and therefor you´ll have a harder time getting stuck. So instead of having the need for a really high gearing like you would have to use with a shorter track to stay floating, instead you can gear it down which in the situation that you would get stuck or try to get through tight forest will make the bike less likely to stall. so optimal would be a 129/137" with the track tensioner pretty far in so the track can roll easily.
For 250/300/500 (2 stroke) 350/450/500 (4 stroke) you can run any track you want as the power from the engine can pull you out of situations a smaller bike would stall in. Usually, a smaller track is funnier on a bigger bike as it feels more nimble, but it will be harder to ride in deeper snow so if you´re mostly going to ride in deep powder go for the longer tracks. I started out on a exc 125 with a 137" 2" timbersled copy and it was pretty hard as it maxed out at 44 mph but it did go everywhere my friends sleds could, the 300i i ride now has a 120" MH ST and it´s a really big differnce as it digs more but is a lote more fun to ride.
Short note: This is only my experience so if you´re looking for a track visit a forum and ask there too see what everyone else think and not just me ;)
You need a DRZ400 kit.
ill be on the lookout for a kx500 2 stroke or cr500 for a snowbike. heard they can climb the same stuff sleds can which i dont care about much just care about riding between trees
RideWithWill no they don’t. probably one of the better bikes to build but they have limitations. Depends on the setup.
will you guys make a purpose built turn key snowbike?
Had to build My own fit kit for my xr650r. When I emailed they said the bike didn't have the power to pull their kit if these guys actually knew anything about bikes they would realize that a 650r still out punches a brand new 450 by a long shot I have to be careful climbing anything too steep because it will just start to dig hard if I get after it too much torque for the paddles on the track
Oh that was 4 years ago!!!
What about 799cc, 4 stroke, 189kg bike ?
need a kit for my panigale R
I ride a 501. It's fast, got tons of low end torque. And it gets the job done. Tons of power and light. Almost too much power. Almost
KTM EXC 250 4T head made of 280, power bomb, acrapovic. Snow bike 129 ". My weight is 80 kg. Will it work?
I rode all last year on my 250cc bike. Geared the front sprocket down to 12 tooth.....went anywhere I wanted.....and it wasn't a timbersled track. I was rocking a Radix.....sits under the bike like a real dirt bike. Ohlins suspension.....90 inch track.....closest thing to a dirt bike. Timbersled cant touch that setup.
How much do you weight?
Do you have to have an engine blanket? The only ones I can find are expensive. Like is it absolutely necessary? Will it hurt my bike if I don’t? I am getting a temperature gauge.
Speaking from experience; A 250 will work but a 450 with fuel injection will be way more fun and way more reliable.
Hahahhahahhaajah
Hahahahah
Can you drive your snow bike in Canada ON snow Machine trail
Im thinkin 2007 GSX-R 750 with timbersled???
Great video!! I have a 2018 KTM 250xcf and I want to build a snowbike, at the same time I don’t have any use for a 450. Anyways I’m sold. Investing in a new bike + track is out of the question, just a track is a much easier sell for me. Won’t be number 1 out there but it definitely still looks fun to be out in the elements.
Did you ever snowbike your 250? I've got a 250EXCF and wonder how it would do.
Wondering if they bolt up to old bikes, I have a 86 kx 250 2 stroke and was wondering if you maybe make one for a ninja or street bike? I'm getting crazy ideas from watching too much youtube
Prices need to go down 8k no tax or shipping I can buy I sled
do you think that a 125 two-stroke would work
Probably only on hard packed snow
@@freeriiiiide thanks
@@purplesweater1134 it will work even in deep snow, you just have to be aggressive on the throttle so you keep the rpm´s. otherwise you have to shift alot and choose the right gear for the task.
@@prettylagom3614 would it be better to change out a front or rear sprocket for a 125 snowbike?
I got new 2022 Lifan 250 KPX dual sport bike, will this sled work on it???
Pure curiosity. Would it fit on a DR650?
I’ve wondered this myself? Or an XR650 maybe?
Does your bike need to be fuel injected to use a timber sled kit? Someone told me it will flood easily if It’s carbureted
Got anything for 690?
Hi Brett, Do you know if Timbersled will still offer parts for the 2014/15/16 kits? On the website that has all been removed. Really sad if they will only support the ARO... Thanks!
will a 125 2 stroke work as a snowbike
a husqvara (TC125) 2 - stoke 125 would not work though?
It probably will work if you remember to keep it on the pipe.
Jared Carlson I also am wondering the same
@@cripplekid0902 I think it would work if you keep the throttle open but it's going to struggle and it might blow up trying to push it.
Yeyy... now i just need 6000 USD for my timbersled kit.... fuck it!!
What kit would you recommend for a 2008 yamaha yz250f??
What a bout a yz125 2 stroke
it works, even if it´s a hard bike to ride in deep snow
When will I be able to put the ripper kit on a 105 sx ktm ??
I have a 2 stroke kx 85 what track would I want
Probably the smallest one. Its made for a 110cc
All these bikes but no drz 400 kit
That bike would be a snail in the snow unless you had it realllly built.
That bike weighs as much as a sled already
Drz400sm is the best bike period ❤ u think it's slow mine goes 0-60 4 seconds 2018 Drz400sm
does ity work on 85 cc
will my 2019 ktm 250 exc tpi run the Aro 3 129 well?
I've got a 200cc one stroke to put this kit on
I feel like the 250s just wouldn't have enough juice.
LOL.
Like he said rev the piss out of it and you'll be good
Do you make install kits for a suzuki rmz 250 2017
I’ve been looking all over for a 2016 and don’t seem to find much on it
@@BluPrints I have been told the 450 works if it's the same year
@@jeremiahfehr6970 I’ll check that out! I appreciate it
@@BluPrints yep ask about
Nice kits but way too expensive.
I cant find a kit that will fit my 2007 wr250f does anyone know of any?
Lol dude u need a bike with power
Could I use a kx85 as a snowbike
I wouldn't. Needs more power smallest I'd consider is a 125
Will the 125cc work? I got a brand new one last year and I really want a snow bike kit. Thanks!
You’d destroy your engine.
it will work, just not as fun to ride in deep snow
@@Jellyrollrider no you wouldnt
It's Husqvarna not huskavana
Would have been easy enough to mention 125 2 stroke
Right?
Zero responses is a huge marketing fail.
$5000 usd is just too much
Literally didn’t answer any of my questions
Actually having a question answered would be literally unexpected......
What about a wr250r? Would there be any issues with running them on a 4 stroke, dual sport?
I would love to know as well
