If Baker was just competent last year it would have exceeded expectations relatively speaking. Not only was he legitimately good, he brought leadership ability, grit, and charisma to a team everyone counted out, and is very fun to watch play. I don’t understand how any Trask apologists are still left; Trask is very clearly not the right option so long as Baker maintains his current level of play.
Nobody believes trask is good
Trask never got an opportunity which feels like a waste of a 2nd. Baker did play good though
@@alex-9763 Trask might be part of a draft trade.
Trask never even got a chance... Also Bucs weren't some dumpster fire we literally just won a SB and we're a play away from repeating... Even Brady's divorce year we still win division and made playoffs with no Shaq Barrett and a defense that allowed 7 30 bombs... Baker played average football but was carried by Mike evans just like Mike carried Johnny to a heisman, he carried Baker to 100 million... If Brady had the healthy roster Baker had we are playing the Chiefs in the SB... Bucs Oline was ranked top 5 for pass pro according to PFF... Baker just lucked his way into a 100 mill tbh and the Bucs will pay for literally and figuratively
@@brutalasbucs9719 Stats may say that TB had a decent O-Line... My EYES saw Baker immediately running for his life most of the time, and the WORST running attack in the NFL.
Think about that for a moment... A "play-action" style QB leading a team to 3 times the number of wins the experts predicted we'd win, WITH NO FREAKING RUNNING GAME!
Also - Can we REALLY credit any WR with carrying a team? NO CREDIT to the guy who's getting the ball to him? COME ON MAN!
What are you talking about, you can make a comparison between Daniel Jones and Baker? No you can't, at all. Baker is by far a much better QB than Jones.
Bakers contract is an absolute steal when compared to every single non rookie contract QB in the entire league but compared to the Jones contract it is like getting a Ferarri at a cheaper price than a Ford.
Im not too worried about baker im thinking when will we ever hit a homerun on edge rusher not named Leroy Selmon cuz we didn't draft rice ...or when will we go back to having a feared pass rush without sending 6
Baker all day, every day for the Bucs!! Strengthen that OL and get another solid receiver or TE and watch this team excel!!
we have a great receiving corps. right now. no need to add any more. need a punishing running back, which rachaad white is most definitely not.
i think we should have shown mike evans the door and drafted xavier legette out of south carolina and REALLY gone after Derrick Henry, but i'm not the Bucs GM.
@@Vote_Blue it’s a deep OL and WR class and we could get value even in later rounds. White is better than most think because our OL does not run block well. Strengthening the OL will prove that.
How little money did the NFL players make in the 1950s.
In the SB #8 in 1974, it was mentioned that a player had made $147,000 in just playoff games.....Pat Summerall said that was more than he made playing in the NFL in 10 years.
So, Summerall must had only made about $10,000 per year playing in the NFL in the 1950s.
🏈Go Bucs..!
It's reasonable to think Baker can match last season, with the benefit of better OL and running. But he's always been a rhythm passer, and a physical runner... injury and ups n downs in the passing game are legit concerns. But he did great job of being patient downfield last year, taking checkdowns. Baker went on a hot streak late in the year, as he did in Cleveland in 2020... that's part of his game.
Did Baker "go on a hot streak"? Or was more and more chemistry beginning to show up between him and receivers he'd never thrown to before... after a preseason of getting only half the reps with the 1s. In a system new to the entire offense.
IMO, it's time to drop the moniker that Baker is a "Gun Slinger". Gun Slingers throw INTs. THIRTEEN QBs had more INTs than Baker. Two had the same number, and 10 had 1 or 2 less. Of those 25 QBs, only 6 threw as many passes. Most didn't throw ANYWHERE NEAR as many. Baker isn't a "gun slinger".
In the past, his crap teams were usually losing, so he HAD to gamble in the 4th quarter (or go down without a fight). And he had mostly undisciplined receivers in crappy systems designed by OCs no longer in football. And the ones who are still around, didn't design them to fit Baker's skill-set.
Baker really isn't a gunslinger, but a big part of his game is challenging downfield. That success rate skyrockets when you've got a 6'4 future hall of famer to throw to. I definitely hope they find a tall wideout in the draft to grow behind Mike, either in this draft or the next.
He just typically throws INTs in crunch time (when it matters most)
@@coryjohnson2486 Considering his circumstances, I don't think it's a concern.
He's been in nothing but the following REASONS not poor excuses:
1). Systems that are new to him, so, limited chemistry with his targets.
2). Systems designed and run by OCs no longer in football, (because they stunk.)
3). Proven perennial losing teams with no discipline around him.
4). Bad teams that are usually losing in crunch time, so the QB is forced to gamble.
Are you aware that, in spite of the dumpster-fire offenses he's been on, he already has EIGHT last drive, come-from-behind wins?!
You may be seeing what you WANT to see, because you never liked the guy.
👍🏻👍🏻🇩🇪
In no order I'd say these guys are better:
Allen
Rodgers
Stroud
Burrow
Lamar
Mahomes
Herbert
Dak
Hurts
Love
Kirk
Stafford
Dak absolutely lacks any leadership. The team doesnt follow him and he is too expensive.
I would question dak, then Rodgers and Kirk cause if injury
People are putting too much stock in Love and Stroud. 1 year doesn't make a great QB, they have potential to be great but there have been a lot of QBs who have been one year wonders.
Even if completely true, the 13th best QB in football is worth a LOT of money and will win a LOT of games and has many times in the past won a Super Bowl.
Nothing wrong with being a slightly above average QB in the league
Easy answer: not that good but it could be worse
Trask never even got a chance... Also Bucs weren't some dumpster fire we literally just won a SB and we're a play away from repeating... Even Brady's divorce year we still win division and made playoffs with no Shaq Barrett and a defense that allowed 7 30 bombs... The aspect you aren't taking into account is that Baker was always thought of in Cleveland as a guy who absolutely NEEDED a great run game to be successful using play action and the like. He most certainly did not have one in Tampa last year so any games they won were won because of his passing and yes absolutely having 2 great WR helps a ton but the fact is no QB is successful without at least 2 highly competent receivers.
Baker is a good runner????
Mayfield was run down and tackled by a fat cop.
Just like you can't outrun childsupport and alimony
Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, CJ Stroud, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Tua Tagalaivoa, Aaron Rodgers, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, Brock Purdy, Kirk Cousins, Jordan Love, Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, and Dak Prescott are all better QBs. Anthony Richardson also looks better but he was injured all year.
Nah dude ur putting way too many names above Baker he’s beat a lot of these qbs this year man and ik defense is a thing but he did outduel several
Baker def over tuna and dak, dak tricks ppl with those regular szns
Tlaw is ass
@@smercxzTrevor Lawrence has arguably the worst o line in the NFL and when he’s not being pressured he’s in elite company. Honestly if we switched QBs we’d be a super bowl contender and the jags would probably have a top 5 pick
Wow chill out jordan love is not Trevor Lawrence us ass kirk is not not Brock has a loaded team so it’s not really fair cj it’s to soon to say that Jalen hurts isn’t that good Lamar is and isn’t he is a better runner but not as accurate as baker tua eh about the same
He’s average. Tired of this man being gassed up. Watched every game. Would’ve rather seen our team give Trask a start and see how he looked. Everybody always talk about qualities like how “tough” he is. No one cares, we want to win. The opportunity to win is now and we’re wasting it along with the end of Mike Evans and Lavonte David’s careers playing it safe with an average QB
Trask is awful. Shut up. He’s a backup for a reason
Give it up dude! Move on already! Trask is not a starting NFL QB
You prolly hated Baker since his college days cause you bitter that he destroyed your favorite college team and won the Heisman over your favorite player. You a sad human to actually root against a man's success.
Trask sucks
