Baker flat out said in an interview during superbowl week that he would be willing to take a team friendly deal with the Bucs to make sure Evans and other key pieces can sign back on with the Bucs and that's exactly what he has done. He signed the most team friendly QB deal in the entire league and skip is right, Baker could have easily got more money elsewhere but he loves Tampa and the team and doesn't want to see guys get cut or traded because he wanted to be greedy.
Classy organization, the exact opposite of Cleveland.
No one was going to give baker 40 million. He played in the worst division in football.

I like Baker more than most people, mostly because he fights or has had to fight for everything he has. He’s a winner/fighter despite the cards he was dealt and there’s something to be said about not just a player but a MAN like that

It's not just the quarterback's performance but the Bucs like to step up for Baker. Remember when Tampa shut down the Brotherly Shove!!!!!!!!

I think Baker Mayfield showed love honestly. I think it was good for both parties. Baker found a home and he is getting payed man. Tampa showed him love he feels comfortable and money is cool but comfort and security is nice as well. Bucs keep some wiggle room as far as cap to. This is good for the team man I like it.
I would argue he is a top 3 QB in the NFC so this is a great deal, here is my top 5 QB in NFC

2. Goff
3. Baker
4. Stafford

Crazy Mayfield is ranked #11 in 2023 with a completely new team. He has been ranked 11 and 12 two other seasons with the Browns but this was his best season statistically and only ranked in the top 32 one other seaon at 25. He definitely deserves that contract. Its very fair imho.

Say what you want about Baker but the dude is tough as they come. I would want him on my team any day of the week. I'm glad he came out on top.
I was skeptical. The NFL was skeptical. The local radio sports station was skeptical. They all had Tampa finishing the season with 5 wins, some said 4. We were ALL wrong. Yes we had a rough patch around mid season and we able to scratch and claw our way into the playoffs. Beat a bad team in the Eagles, and fought a tough game in Detroit. Once Evans was inked, knew Baker was next. If everyone stays healthy Bucs will be playoff bound again
I think it’s worth it for Baker to take maybe a little less money to stay in a place where he’s comfortable and appreciated. Especially after what he’s been through in his career so far

I’ve been betting on Baker Mayfield since 2018. I Predicted he would win 2023 CPOY- (he came in 2nd-voting).
This year, I predicted he would take my team to the playoffs and win at least one playoff game. It happened.

I have been arguing for Baker for years with football fans.
The man has been on bad teams and in bad organizations.
By the time Cleveland starts getting it's act together with new management and a decent head coach,(Stefanski) Baker was already on his way out because fans had soured on him and that front office and coaching staff was not the people who drafted Baker.
That last season he was there the man was beat to s**t and trying to be a tough guy and be there for his team.
We all know The Panthers have no clue what they are doing or at least didn't while Baker was there.
With The Rams he was finally in a quality environment, around very smart football people, with a real knowledgable idea of how to teach the qb position.
It showed, which is what likely led to The Bucs being interested and then his play with The Bucs under the tutelage of Dave Canales(who Baker helped secure a head coaching gig)
Now it's up to Baker to take that next step forward and threaten the entire conference....
I'm not sure if The Bucs have that sort of higher end talent?

He won two playoff games with two different teams. Browns had 4 wins in 3 years. During-Bakers rookie year he won 7 games for them! The next year 11-5 and advanced to the playoffs when he beat- Roethlisberger and the Steelers IN Pittsburgh.
He mimicked what he did in Pittsburgh in 2020-his first year in Tampa. He’s a stud and a baller. People don’t realize Baker had 35TDS/12 INT (including postseason)
