Easy Boxwood (Buxus) Propagation from Stem Cuttings for profit || How to Grow Boxwoods

- One of the most popular ornamental shrubs are boxwoods and has the potential for good profit. Also known by the name buxus outside the United States, boxwoods have become a best seller for many growers over the past few years. The popularity of topiary plants has resulted in a production bottleneck, especially in countries like South Africa. This means nurseries that grow evergreen, perennial plants like buxus can rely on steady sales year-round. This is especially important during the winter when sales of summer flowering perennials or annuals are at a minimum, allowing growers to even out income during quiet periods.
In this video we are going to take a look at how a commercial nursery grows boxwoods. The great thing about boxwoods is that they are easy to propagate from stem cuttings, so even if you don’t have a nursery, with a little planning you can grow your own boxwood hedges for almost nothing compared to buying them from garden centres.

Good info. Do boxus thrive in zone 10b condition? And can green island ficus can be used for creating topiary?
Thanks lot
Most welcome!
Does this work for lorepetalum?
Can I propagate them in late summer, like next week? August 26th. I need to plant 145 of them, border wall, and buying that many, well, I may as well put up a ugly fence.
Hi there, it would depend on your local climate. We are able to get cuttings through the winter, keep in mind we have a greenhouse with mild winters
@@AgricultureAcademy I have sever Illinois winters. But I have a garage with lots of windows, I'd prefer not to heat it though. I did use a old cooler and cut the lid to make a plexiglass top and side windows as well. I have 88 of them in there now, been about 3 weeks. I'm banking they can root before the -40 degree winters come. In the garage it shouldn't get below 30° though, so here's to hoping. I have 75 I did earlier and had a 95% success with them. I need a total of 155 though to hedge my entire front yard. Thank you for your reply and expertise in the subject and willingness to share it. I'll report in the spring and let ya know how it goes.
When is the best time of year to start taking cuttings for Boxus
Hi Matthew, we here in the southern hemisphere take cuttings now in the beginning of summer. We select new growth that has become somewhat hardy. Stay away from very woody growth.
Can you do Japanese Maple propagation?
Most likely the same process.
I have one that is about 45yo. Around this time in may all the seedlings have sprouted and is a perfect time to dig them up. I’ve grown about 15 of them but could easily get 50or more a season from under one mature tree.
please someone can send the seeds to Indonesia, I searched in my country and didn't get them,
I want to cultivate it
How long does it take for a cutting to get to 1 ft height
2 years roughly
We are in Indonesia, how can we get boxwoods?
Boxus di shopee😄
WHat is meant by score the stem?
Remove the bark so roots can grow.
God bless you and your white family. Protect you from the BLK demons.
