  • How to Knit Long and Stripy Beginner Shawl with Marly Bird. This is a free pattern and uses worsted weight yarn. The instructions are simple enough for a beginner knitter to knit this fun shawl.
    Learn how to do garter stitch, knit front and back (kfb), slip stitch purlwise with yarn in front along garter stitch edge, change colors, seed stitch, stockinette stitch and slip slip knit (ssk) decrease. So much in this fun scarf but all of it made easy with the wonderful knit tutorial by Marly Bird.

    Lovely, straightforward tutorial that demonstrates all the skills needed to make this stunning project. I’m hardly a beginner, but I am sometimes forgetful! After watching this video the rules for slipping stitches at the beginning of the rows are cemented in my brain. I’m getting lovely and neat selvedges with no mistakes!

    Marley thank heavens for your clear and calming instructions. I've been knitting for 40 years so I understand the extra tips that you give and have found them helpful. Just getting a different perspective on a stitch or using markers to help map out a pattern can show an old dog new tricks.
    Question--what brand of double needles are you using? I like the tips and would like to give them a try.
    Just a side note -- thank you so much for not rattling along talking about needless crap. It drives me crazy to listen to 10 mins of nonsense before getting to the subject.

    I have a question after u do the increases section 1 & 2 do u cut the yarn for a & b that ur not going to use for a while? I new to knitting

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  5 років тому

      If the yarn is going to stretch over more than 2 rows then yes, I would cut the yarn and rejoin.

    I purchased my yarn at a big box store and went to down load the pattern but it would not let me down load the pattern. Does anyone know what I can do?
