one thing I will mention...NEVER DO IT YOUSELF when putting in a countertop especially when its an L shaped and having to be joind together and then trying to put in on the cabinets....My helper was asleep and I had to do this by myself with just saw horses that were lower than the counter....I tell you help these days
all I can say is this...there needs to be more women like you out there. I see so many women getting ripped off by contractors or contractors doing slocky jobs that I would be ashamed of being called a contractor. I am an independent male and when I work on doing something on a person home I charge them a reasonable rate and I do the job as professionally as I can. in fact I call myself the POOR MANS repair man because I still have a full time job but I know not everyone has contractor type money so I do the work at a very reasonable rate that not I have more work than I can handle lol. But seriously you are a diamond in the rut as far as I can tell...keep it up and inspire women out their so they can either do the job or know how not to get ripped off on a job
I was lucky in this remodel. I have done others like the renovation for my parent's and their first contractor was horrible. Luckily, we were able to hire someone else and they did an excellent job.
That bait and switch billing from the architect guy seems shady. I know the feeling. I just purchased a 1100 sq ft colonial. In the initial loan estimate the closing cost was $5100. By the time closing day actually arrived I was at $7500. How can a so called professional, that does this every day be so far off on a estimate. I felt like I was being robbed.
