Vueko's passing was even more painful for me than Mitty's since we got to know her throughout this entire season and we actually got to hear her final thoughts to Faputa before she died and seeing Faputa cry right after she died and looked at the others hurt 😢 and she's the only one who got a grave
I think what makes Mitty's passing painful is less about Mitty herself (because her dying was bringing peace to her), but rather it was about Nanachi losing (at the time) the one thing she struggled, suffered, and lived for - her treasure.
that and she died from complaciancy, right at the end, they didn't have to worry about going up this entire time.... so damn frustrating to watch.
When Vueko recalled what Juroimoh said to her about how "the Golden City turns even junk to gold" it just broke me ;_;
The writing and storytelling in this show is just out of this world...Massive props to Kevin Penkin for absolutely nailing the soundtrack _again_ .
Can't wait to get hold of that OST. It's otherworldly good.
At the end Faputa said "Everyone... see you later..."

Wazukyan talking about accumulation sums up this whole arc. Nanachi and Mitty was rip your heart out, stomp on it, and set it on fire, whereas this was more about working it's way slowly into your heart and breaking it to pieces from inside out (just like the village itself really). The backstory of the village and Faputa just supercharged everything happening from episode 9 through 12 and there weren't many moments in all that time that I didn't have tears in my eyes. It's just phenomenal storytelling and Faputa is such a special character. And of course a huge shout out to Kinema Citrus and everybody involved for making such an incredible season (Misaki Kuno, voice actress for Faputa, take a special bow because dear lord she was amazing).
On a side note that anime-only viewers won't know - the blue-haired cyclops girl (Pakkoyan) who saved Vueko on the stairs actually had a relationship with Vueko in the manga (it's not specified how deep it was, but there was one panel showing them having some fun in bed). Just to add that little extra layer of heartbreak to that scene.
Loved your reactions to this season btw. You have a whole lot of heart and it's great to see.

Vueko had a very sad life, and her death was devastating, but she will live on Faputas memory.
"They showed their best side" what a wonderful way to put it, they shined they brightest in their darkest our.
You ever get that lump in your throat from crying??? That was me when Vueko died, and how she died. What an incredible finale to an incredible season of Made in Abyss. Thank you to all from the mangaka to all who work on the anime. See y'all for season 3 in many years.
There is so much people tend to miss in this show. Like how this entire story was stretched over 150 years. Faputa was alone for years before she stumbled upon Gabu. And then only met Reg after turning 150, as she meets him when he sets out to fetch Riko. She lived with her failure for 150 years, that's why she worships Reg and why she is so determined to fulfil her destiny.
Vueko spent 150 years singing lullabies and crying in near darkness, feeling for signals of life outside.
It's crazy to think that none of them went insane.
Oh, yep. And... I remember that Vueko said that the reason she didn't go crazy was because she wanted to remember Iru.
Since it's never shown the blue haired hollow that saves Vueko was actually her girlfriend which makes it even sadder
Was it his girlfriend or did they just have sex? They don't say anything about their relationship, do they?
They just had segs once from what was shown, no hint of romantic feelings were shown. Imo it was just Vueko's way of dealing with her trauma.

Yeah. Her name was Pakkoyan and she was always shown to be net to Vueko in both the anime and manga. Pretty cool for the show to portray an abused person who isn't romantically reclusive.
By the way anime fans, the Made in Abyss fandom is still pretty 50/50 on whether or not they were romantically involved. (Pakkoyan is certainly shown to care for her in a higher degree than the others). It's intentionally left to interpretation. So whatever you think is "true" is probably right. Don't let other comments influence you

So many tear jerking moments.
All of the Vueko moments really got me, especially her ascent up the stairs.
A lot of subtle moments too like, Gaburoo's back-story; "I exist to observe" compared to the previous episode's "I exist to protect". Faputa telling Vueko, she solely belongs to her mother. Vueko getting to have her final words with Irumyuui (by confusing her with Faputa). The list could go on way longer, what an amazing show.
Something else that killed me was Vueko's tombstone, it looked like the tower (Iru) and the form of one of Iru's unborn children 😭😭

I can't believe Maaa didn't get to say goodbye, she just dissipated. That hit me so hard.
Although people hate Wazukyan I enjoy him as much as Bondrewd and don't see them as heartless terrible people but instead trying to find a way to save people in their own way
Idk something about his vibe I liked. Idk he was just chill af even if he was twisted. lol
Wazukyan for me is the best character of this season (and oh boy there were a lot of AMAZING ones) and one of the best characters overall that I've seen. Most people see him either as a psychopath or a prophet but he is an incredibly complex and interesting character.
@@HELLios6 If he'd come from Riko's time, he'd definitely be a White Whistle. From an outside perspective, they all seem pretty messed up, and make despicable decisions, but if you look closer and see why they do it, you see they genuinely believe they are doing the greater good. Wazukyan sacrificed everything and everyone he knew because he saw the future, and what he had to do to get there. Whatever it was that drove him to do the things he did, he obviously believed it was the right thing to do, and it seemed he had no regrets about it. My thoughts are that whatever Riko is, and what she will accomplish by getting to the bottom of the abyss, was obviously something Wazu believed was important above all else.
This season honestly is 10/10 .

19:49 I feel like one big thing the Anime could have done to re-emphasize the sort of relationship Pakoyan had with Vueko is have had Pakoyan be eaten by Faputa so that a flash back in frame to her and Vueko hanging out can play when flash backs were playing after Faputa started destroying Iruuburum.

They did a great job with this season, I knew what was coming but the OST really made it all hit that much harder.
Unfortunately this episode concluded Chapter 60 and as of now, we don't know when Chapter 64 will be out. It's likely going to be a long time before we see more Made in Abyss animated.
An interesting analysis of this arc I read was that the new characters are foils to the main cast
Wazakyun and Riko are leaders with a crazy goal
Belaf and nanachi are the nerds who try to hold everything together
Reg and vueko are kindhearted wholesome hunny buns
It's sort of a warning of how their adventure could go wrong
I like that a lot
That actually makes a lot of sense. You could even parallel Prushka to Irumuii as the member who gave up their humanity to help the group with a new body. Just with irumuii once again being the dark reflection of that as her inability to speak for herself led to her children being eaten and her body used against her will. I also just realized that irumuui and Prushka even both had cute animal sidekicks when they were human, Meinya and the hermit dweller.
Just to say the bit of manga after this arc is sooo good I already want a season 3 cuz I know it won’t disappoint

There's like only around 5 chapters or less in the manga after this, and new chapters are so rare and sometimes takes months to come, so yeah i think it would be years before a new season would even be considered
I cried through this entire episode, some of it felt related to my life, and I thank the author for making such an anime. But we all feel the same emotions! ;c
Faputa buried Vueko in rock and dust made from Irumyuui so at last they are with each other again.

@@iudexe3103 Now that the village is gone she has lost her immortality . She’s still very strong , basically just like Reg (minus the incinerator) , but she’s not overpowered anymore.

@@iudexe3103 they never confirmed faputa wasn't immortal anymore, but she can't regenerate anymore, as she needs the power of the village(that has been destroyed) to regenerate

Man, i knew it. Vueko death was going to be so fcking sad. Literally got teary eyes throughout her last moment. And the song playing in the background makes it even more tearjerking. Wazukyan already hinted that Faputa will join them in their journey, us viewer is basically Reg at that time, not knowing exactly what he meant.
TBH, i was hoping for a short end credit after the ending song. Right after Faputa told Riko that she can talk to Prushka, Riko asked if she can talk to her mother's WHITE WHISTLE and immediately, Faputa got goosebumped and hides behind Reg.
If the anime did ended at that moment, it will be the biggest cliffhanger for anime watcher. You all will be asking wtf she so scared about and tells us if its really is Lyza's white whistle.
This anime is amazing, story, character, music, everything is amazing
16:55 Vueko and Pakkoyan (That girl) sometime in the past actually had sexual intercourse. So they had a closer relationship than the anime

Maa getting to feel love and a plushie gift got me so bad in the heart. Just one last smile of excitement before they died.
It's also important to note, in the Manga, Vueko is in love / dating that blue haired girl. The reason she saved her, and is crying, is because they were lovers. They don't address this in the show.
I guess you were spared from seeing Maaa disappear as well, we had to say so many goodbyes this episode. But I bet they were happy to go having met such incredible friends, one last adventure and getting back their precious plush back that they oh-so regrettably lost earlier in the season, Maaa made mistakes that cost them everything yet they still stood by Riko having protected her until the very end, may their soul rest in peace

The symbol in her eyes is the same style as the charge counter for Regs incinerator. Which I assume means that's the white balancing in her.

So I rely on translation apps and I'm afraid I won't be able to communicate well, but I'll give it a try.
All of Fapta's dialogue goes through the words as if she were a princess. The last words are the princess calling out to her people, "I am going, my people, I will see you again.
In other words, she is saying to everyone in the village of Narehate.
In Japanese, spoken words and phrases can clearly indicate each other's status.
The feels are strong with this one.
A pannel of the manga int he irmiui's flashback was censored in the anime: It shows vueko and the Blue haired girl (the cyclops now) and vueko having sex, Is clearly stated that they were in a relationship, this also explain why vueko talking ti irmiui says that She can't have childs too. ( In the anime you can Always see them together but Is never mentioned that they are in a relationship)
The point i'm making Is that the cyclops Just sacrificed herself in the attempt to save her lover's Life, that makes this scene even more painful to Watch/read.

Vueko was my favorite of the new characters. It was so painful to watch her suffer. Like Nanachi, I wanted her to be happy. And going forward I have the feeling that Faputa will get into awful situations, too. Being immortal is not a trait you want to have in this series.
It's not underated, the problem is that it took so long for a sequem to come, and most season 2 don't do that well for first viewers but seeing the score everywere, the apreciation for this is still there for sure. I thought it couldnt get "worse" after Prushka but damn this arc was hard to watch....

I think Riko will end up as one of Faputa's kids with Reg by the end of the series. It's clear that Reg will eventually get his memories back to have a family with Faputa, and Riko is most definitely not surviving the series as a human.
Riko actually has very high chances of staying human now that she has a working white whistle, an awakened aubade, an ally that can see the force field, and the most powerful thing in the 6th layer doesn’t seek to kill her. She can definitely get to the final maelstrom, find her mother which Ozen said is definitely alive, and then probably die somehow, as a human.
