YES! I was hoping for a return to the winter creek fishing and creek chubs! Great video, and it looked like a great wander through the woods, as well. Thanks for taking us back out there.
If you wanna go pseudo weedless, you can Tex-Pose smaller worms on octopus hooks. Wanna say I pair a size 1 with my jack worms. The size 4 work great with the Powerbait floating trout worms (don’t use gulp they’re garbage). Micro Texas rig FTW! I’m gunna try the cut down Jacks with some Zman Shroom heads tomorrow morning. The Ned rig was on fire this morning. Tight lines brother!
I usually fish out of a canoe or from the bank.but when I go hiking creek fishing I like to bring my zebco doc demons & or uglystik doc runners setups.so mutch more manageable in thigh spot in the woods.my question is you ever try ither of the two extra small rods like doc demon or doc runner?? It just add a hole new level of fun to fishing....p,s I upgrade the reels on these doc combos.
Hey Ethan, I need your help. I'm running spro 6lb braid to 6lb fluorocarbon seaguar red label tied with a double uni knot. And it keeps breaking at the knot. I have even tried 10lb fluoro same thing, breaks at the connection knot. Any advice on how to fix this dumb problem. Thanks, one frustrated fisherman.
Interesting. I know I'm not Ethan, but I might be able to offer a couple of suggestions that might help solve your issue. I use double uni for all my braid to leader knots. Mono to mono, braid to mono / fluro, Ester (2.3 lb.) to mono/fluro. I don't ever break at the uni to uni connection. Usually, the only time I break there is when I'm hung up and trying to get unhung and have to break the line. Even then, I usually break at the hook knot. That's also a uni, usually. My guess is that you might have a bad spool of fluro, you're setting your drag way to tight, or most likely, your tightening your knots too much before putting them together. .Be sure to "wet" your knot before you cinch it down, and do it slowly! Too fast will cause the line to overheat and weaken the line. Also, if your knots are too tight before easing them together and tightening them slowly, the line will stretch / thin on your fluro side and your 6 lb. will be like 2 lb.'s instead. When ultra lite fishing I usually have a VERY loose drag. I even use a double uni on my Lew's 6' ultra lite rod paired with a Shimano Nasci 1000 spooled with 6 lb. Daiwa X8 J braid and either a 4 lb., 6 lb., 8 lb., or even 10 lb. mono leader. I use this fishing a YUM Dinger weightless and "Texas" rigged with a #1 hook. My drag on this is slightly tighter because I have the hook point skin hooked back into the YUM Dinger, so I actually have to "hook set" in order to bury the hook past the barb into the fish (usually a small bass). I don't even break when using 4 lb. I have had the fish cut my 4 lb. mono leader with their teeth from time to time, but rarely do I break at the double uni. When I first started using braid with a leader, I had the same problem from time to time. Not tightening the knots prior to cinching them together, wetting the line, and pulling them together more slowly all helped to solve my issue. Practice will help you get the right tightness prior to cinching, and not over tightening after cinching also is key. Too tight and you're going to pinch your line and weaken it. That double uni isn't going to come undone as long as it's snug enough. It's a balancing act of tightening just enough vs. too much or too little that only experience can teach you. Good luck! Hope this helps.
@chipseiler1766 thanks. Yeah I'm under the impression that my braid is cutting my fluoro. Always seems to break at the knot, I've tried bumping up to 10lb fluoro and still snaps at the knot . Never had a problem with 10lb braid to 10lb fluoro with double uni, but now with the 6lb braided line it just seems like it's cutting thru the fluoro.
@@MarlboromanCb Is it regular 4 strand braid, or is it X8? That could be aggravating the problem also. My issues were when I was using 4 strand. When I went to 8 strand and learned how to not over tighten before cinching together, most of my breaking at the double uni went away. I also have never used the brand of braid you're using. I use Daiwa J-Braid, Kastking 8 strand, and even iron feather. The iron feather 5 lb that I use is actually 4 strand, I think. That's what I'm using now on the YUM Dinger rod. I've only been trying it for 2 days and 2 fish, so not much experience there yet, but I haven't broken either time I hook set.
@chipseiler1766 it's the spro finesse 8x . I think I'm gonna have to learn how to tie an fg knot LOL. I've done 10 wraps both ways with the uni and I'm not sure if that's too many wraps or not enough.

Creek chubs are tons of fun on UL. A creek I grew up fishing, it was not uncommon to find 12 inchers or bigger. It's like fishing for little carp.
Awesome day of fishing 🐟
Small creek and nice catch, and lot of fish looks easy to fish with the softlure
Great to see you out fishing I was happy you got on some creek chubs

I would try an Albright knot, I have never had one of those cut. I have had it happen with uni to uni and with a blood knot. Might be worth a try.
