This is awesome, love to see you guys fishing my home river. I think I even passed you guys saturday while I was tubing. A unique fishery and I am glad you guys appreciated it even with the weekend crowd out
Love seeing my hometown river getting some love. Such an underrated fishery. There are not many places where you can catch trout, striper, and smallmouth in the same spot with that scenery, especially in the south. Just dropped a video on my channel catching some good striper on the Saluda back in June. Keep the bangers coming.
Great Content Guys, keep it coming! Especially Love your exploits such as this one, highlighting places that are far from run of the mill, in adventurous fashion.
Thanks man, that's exactly the goal - explore new water and showcase the beauty and adventure of the many fishing destinations across the country. Thanks for the support!
Awesome river in my hometown. Biggest I've had this past summer was a 40lber right above the shoals you guys were fishing. If you walk across the island behind the first shoals you were fishing the water is 5x as deep and holds loads of fish.
Awesome video, enjoyed every minute of it. But just FYI, the Saluda river doesn’t run in the Low country of SC, it’s in the upstate. Meets the Congaree almost at the line.
I just woke up and this was playing lol. Y’all were in by back yard! I was in the saluda catching trout yesterday and planning to get out for some striper in the next couple days. Great timing! That was bad ass catching the striper on the fly rod, I’m gonna take mine and try that now!
Awesome video,I might suggest looking into a type 6 sink tip 10 or 15 foot, clouser minnows & flourcarbon leader,go short 4 to 5 feet then attach with a perfection loop knot better action on the fly, nice striper, tight lines & bent rods 🤘
We have stood in the same river years apart. The cold clean water of the Saluda is like nothing else in that area. Air so humid. River so cold. Strip your fly line in short snappy motions with streamers. Less is more at times. Dry fly fishing in the heat of summer is so hard. Ants and beetles are good bets but 90% of trout feeding happens subsurface.
Trout were feeding on some bug flying around and landing, we actually matched the hatch perfectly to get those dry fly bites, just didn’t have the right gear (8wt rod with a 5x tippet was a bad idea 😅)
Try practicing a double haul so you don’t have to false cast so much. Also 8wt is plenty for any freshwater striper I’ve caught them over 20lbs on an 8wt so your not underpowered for the big ones. Also when you do have one take you into your reel go ahead and use the reel a lot more fish are lost stripping them in. Awesome video tight lines fellas.
I just moved to Northwest Columbia, and met one of the Rangers at WECO who works at this park. Me and my son were talking about going today but opted to go to salute or Riverwalk. Weather permitting we are going to check it out tomorrow. I would like to get into flyfishing and maybe I’ll order a rod soon.
Sounds like a plan. I'm headed out to the dreher shoals area this weekend to check It out. I've been doing alot of fishing down stream of Granby Park under the train bridges. Caught several bass, a few trout and gar and some massive catfish.
thank y9ou sweet baby Jesus. I only had to type south carolina 4 times in the description to get a fly fishing video for south carolina. I gotta tell you I am so ANTI pautzke right now its not even funny. They have spammed every search I have made.
@@SlabDynasty for sure. I have been traveling up to Cherokee a lot lately. I think this Summer I will be rolling up to West Virginia to see if I can Snag a Gold.
Thanks for the tip! We do love to talk. We try to explain to new anglers the techniques and thoughts that we have while fishing. Our hope is that we can help/teach others.

Awsome video
Wish I could've seen yall bois😢😢😢🔥🔥🔥🔥
Next time my dude
I remember water skiing in the saluda and it had stumps everywhere
Probably the saluda above lake murray, everything we fished was rocky, no stumps
Damnnn awesome. Jealous as always!
You the man Mike, thanks for supporting us as always!
I met Mike through Jiu-Jitsu....awesome dude! Great video!
Just FYI..Columbia is not the low coutry😉...i walk that area frequently
Was coming to say the same! It’s just a stretch between the Dam and River Bank that will hold trout

How does this not have more views and likes. Loved it.
UA-cam doesn’t like us I guess 🤷🏼♂️ thanks man

Thanks for the advice looking into the double haul now.
Was going to say the exact same thing.

Nice video
the middle of the lowcountry.. lol And the trout, go more towards the Lake Murray dam area
Great video
Love the video, but Columbia isn't in the SC low country. It's the midlands.
Yee Yee!
What was the boat ramp you guys picked up at?
shoulda stopped and fished the rapids,FW stripes love a rapids!
What wt rods were y'all fishing with? I just move to this water and haven't figured out where to go or what to bring
I'm working on Fly fishing as well. Maybe I'll see you guys out there one day
That would be awesome! If you do, feel free to flag me down. I’m always down to talk fishing with anyone

Lucky there are any trout in there with all the bass.
15:25 is the most epic smallmouth release in existence
Which area do you go? I just moved to SC and have been wanting to do this
What is this launch site? Just moved to SC from Missouri and have been wanting to kayak/fish new areas other than where I am.
We put in at the saluda river walk where all the tubers put in. Not the best place to launch but it was our only option
I live in columbia in the second portion where we’re y’all in the river?
The Riverwalk in Columbia
Moved to the area a year ago and only fished the river once, need some trout buddies!!!!!!
Does Mike have a channel
Not that we know of. We will ask to make sure though
Hahaha low country??? It’s in the midlands dude
Whoops haha, low country for us. We're from NC so this was a change of scenery. Hope you enjoyed the vid.
@@SlabDynasty I did enjoy it. Thanks. Where in NC?
Just so you know, you’re in the Midlands, NOT the LowCountry. Nice video though.
Fish these areas once a week. Crazy isn't it? All this fishing smack in the middle of town.
😂😂 columbia isnt the lowcontry it s the midlands

Well we are happy you found us. We have a few videos from SC but we may have to make another trip this year.

Nice video, but you talk more than you fish! Hush and fish!
