I found a rather small video camera system, which comes with its own relay, for use as a "spy cam". It will fit inside an HO locomotive, and using this unit, you can record a "cab ride", as seen from the engineers seat on any HO loco. The camera sends a signal to the receiver, which is used to record the signal from the cam, for recording on a DVD, or recording on your computer. It really works.
Hey i am finaly a cab forward owner myself as you are N scale of course and later i will have sound added but it will still be awesome to see it pull cars around the layout ...I love what you have done ..Its not a model its REAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wish we were neighbors
The first and second runs of Cab forwards (AC-12s) from Intermountain definitely had problems. I've resolved most of the problems with my IM run two AC-12s. I'm optimistic about IM run 3 AC-12s which are supposedly going to be available soon. I've only had some very minor problems with my BLI AC-4/5s. One problem was a slipping motor drive-shaft which was easily fixed with a drop of AC.
@TeamRocketReviews The Coast Line would be your best bet. The Shasta Daylight, which was the Daylight streamliner on the Shasta and Cascade lines was always diesel powered. Bill R
@DaBlackNinja1 - The camera is a Sony HDR-CX110 Handycam. Yes, it is HD. See the end of the video for a picture of it and its flatcar. I use Adobe Premiere Elements 8 for video editing.
@TeamRocketReviews Since I model in HO, I can't be of much help for N scale. Google would be one place to start your research. Another would be the Espee list in the Yahoo groups. However, be aware that you may get some push-back if you ask questions that have readily available answers with a little internet searching.
The headlight is weird-orange. The Intermountain cab-forwards come from the factory with these headlights. Nobody knows why. I plan to change mine - just haven't done it yet. billr991
Fantastic job. Great layout and love the the point of view of the camera.
I love this view. As I've said before... This is the best home layout I've ever seen. LETS SEE THAT LOCO ROSTER!
Nice work Bill! Thank you for showing us how you did it.
Loved this one! Great footage, and great layout. I always enjoy watching your vids!
Koos
Very nice. The HD video really makes this come alive!
Gene your not the only one who noticed the inside of the tunnels I think that's the first time I ever saw that!!
thanks for your fantastic videos!!!😀😀😀😀
Love the length of your trains....
Wow....the rockwork is stunning!
Awesome layout. I'm more of a city scenery guy, but your hills and tunnels are the best. You are my friend now... :0)

N scale??? Think so?
Nice layout!!!!
Nice "blasted and dug" effect on the inside of the tunnel. Most hobbiest skip this and all you see is the wood frame holding the tunnel up

The number board lights on the Intermountain AC-12s go on and off with the headlight.
Excellent...

Great video! What are you using to get such good depth of field and close focusing??
@CJSHORTTV The computer is used to control the turnouts and to operate the signals. Bill R.

Great video, i just wonder did the gear noise get less after break in period?
It might be due to my poor hearing, but I've never noticed any gear noise.
I noticed that you have taken the trouble to detail the tunnel interiors.
You are definitely a "big league" model railroader.
ith your cab forwar, do the number boards come on with the hadlight or are they a seperate function?
Looks like the SP used another steam loco, plus a caboose for the 'pacing' film. I wonder if that crew got paid over time?
This layout was featured in model railroader ! Anybody know what year/ month

Am I trippin or is the head light red?
That doesnt look like N scale?
@xxxIronHeadxxx It's not. It's HO.
That would have been nice.
@BOB37ize Intermountain, HO
