  • 12 independent FullHD screens on Stage are difficult to manage. If you can't afford 12 channel NDI on your network or 12 SDI lines to your stage, there's an affordable solution built of Raspberry Pis.

    Loving this! So much new information that I could use. Love the footage you post and the way you explain things that makes things more or less complicated by explaining them :P Keep it going!

    I recommend the mini mad using mad mapper this makes this type of installation very reliable.

      bastaría los 12 minimads y entre ellos un cable ethernet?

    nice video, especially the tipps to hide the console on boot up,
    an alternative for qlab in orchestrating 12 Pis via OSC could be chataigne, a tool that can connect to a lot of stuff (OSC, Midi, Serial, HTTP, Websockets, DMX, ...) and has some prebuild modules for some devices/Software (HeavyM, Ableton Live, Mad Mapper, QLab, Resolume, Reaper, Watchout, ...) to make connections easier. With the connections you can send and/or receive information to these systems and trigger actions based on this. But you can also create Timelines with build in Audio Playback and sync Events to this timeline and maybe enable or disable certain mappings only during specific times. For example you get Positiondata from a Tacking System via PosiStageNet and want to map the position of the performer to the brightness of your video in resolume, with chataigne this is just some drag and drop action. Best thing is: this is open source and you heard of the developer before: Ben Kuperberg the guy that created the AfterEffects Spout Plugin you mentioned in your last video. Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement but i learned about this awesome software this year and can't stop to promote it because Ben is an awesome dude and his software is just great. Oh and you can create a Dashboard to control Chataigne with a webbrowser and/or a Streamdeck.

      and I just had a look at the "OSCVideo" OMXPLayer Wrapper from Rasmus Kreiner, you linked in the video description and the underlying wrapper offers a function Player.set_position(seconds) so it should be possible to use this to jump to specific points in your video file, this just has to be added to the OSCVideo Code to bridge Between OSC and the set_position() function of OMXPlayer, but this should be doable. If I need a low budget video solution I will have a look at it and might add it myself because I think going to a specific point in video is super useful for rehearsals

      Rasmus' code seems pretty usable for many great applications. I was wondering if publishing it here might result in a kind of raised engagement in the matter on gihub - leading to a cool tool. ;]

    Very interesting! I wrote my own script to use Raspberry Pis as DMX (sACN) controlled media servers, which worked out pretty good. Basically the first version was just an automated VLC Player. In the upcoming Version i am using an custom Framework (GStreamer).

      The first version: Pahegi / Mediaserver-Python
      This one already did some productions. The sACN control was very handy in a production with many shows, where they needed an easy and cheap plug-and-play solution. So the control from the lighting board was the perfect solution. Another production used this software for prop-changeover-displays on the sidestage.

    Nice work. You could probably set an environment variable on each RPi that points to the local media directory, and then access that in your playback script. This would eliminate the need to set that manually each day.

    Nice setup! How do you think, is it possible to run NDI from Resolume to a few raspberrys and work realtime VJ show?

    • @philipp7pc
      @philipp7pc  Рік тому

      Can resolume output more than one or two NDI streams?
      My experience with NDI was that HD saturates a network pretty quickly if you can't use NDI HX.

    Why not use something more "custom" on rPi? Build a simple player w. PureData for an example, have custom fades and transitions and whatnot...
