To the rep who said rates will go down, she has no idea what she's saying. I work in this insurance and we were already told by our company the best you can hope for is that they will stabilize. They will never go down.
They’re tired of Florida residents getting over. Change the state laws. As an adjuster it’s ridiculous. A lot of people have valid claims but the majority of them do not. Blame your constituents. Been letting them get away with getting free money too long. Ultimately it affects people who really need the coverage and have valid claims. This is also why auto insurance is continuing to increase.
The contractors and roofers were the ones taking advantage of Floridas lax laws. Most homeowners have no idea what condition their roofs are in, but if you get a knock on the door by someone saying they think you have a claim it’s not hard to figure out what most people will do.
Be sure to properly thank the people who live on the coast and in known flood zones. Be sure to also properly thank your county officials who have seen fit to allow people to build there all in the name of REVENUE....
It's a scam there, even with car insurance. They raised my insurance 4 X's from CA price, and raise it during the middle of a policy, repeatedly. Start an account, & secure your own car/ home. It's insane, their prices there for ins.
FL is a mess and FL can blame themselves . FL has had property insurance problems for a long time, decades yet the elected officials in our state are on the insurance companies side not the peoples .I am fed up and now can't even move from this state because it will take a year if I'm lucky for my home to sell . My state is awful and the mess is just starting .

We need a new law that restricts people convicted of fraud to own vehicles.
