The neomarxist politicians on Beacon Hill and in City Hall would rather have a small handful of huge _multinational_ corporations dominating every consumer market. Small businessmen tend to be independent types and risk takers. People who are willing to work 70 hours a week in their own shop are the enemy of neomarxists.
Eliminating all the parking spots right around the corner on Boylston hurts those businesses even more. Before construction for that building on the corner started you could circle the block a couple times to find a spot. Now it's a disaster to avoid at all costs. It's not a good area for foot traffic either. There's too many mentally ill homeless people begging for money in that area all the way down onto Huntington Ave.
Everybody that is suffering voted for this I don't feel bad for anybody. Remember when everybody wanted to wear masks? Nobody had a hard time screaming at each other then. Now our taxes are out of control and the cost of living is insane. Every business that closed up likely voted for the politicians that are jacking up their taxes. We had a chance 4 years ago
This is what happens when the city creates a no-growth policy. What do I mean by that? Well, look at the neighborhood. It’s DEFACTO ILLEGAL to build higher density housing. It’s so bad that companies are forced to create new land over the highway, instead of building anything new between Boylston, Fenway, Westland, and Mass Ave. there’s even a vacant lot on Cambria and St. Cecilia, that is unused because Boston laws make new construction impossible.
Buckle up, its only going to get worse. Cost of business in Bostin is driving companies out. in the next 5+ years there will be a lot of vacant space in Boston
They’ve moved to red states.
The people in power on Beacon Hill despise small businesses. Their bosses are big corporation execs.
I agree with you

Stop voting for any Dems up and down the ticket.
One of the reasons is obviously foot traffic that is less part due to WFH.
Everything go up, salary is frozen, people would need to cut down eating out.
