It was worth the time spent but now we have learned the ropes, our brain needs to get used to processing properly, and I am afraid it'll take a while. By the way, today's video is totally bangin.
Thanks Ricardo! I agree - it's not something that will happen instantly. However, I hope the tips I've shared in this video have removed some of the mystery of fast native speech, and have given you the tools to understand it more easily in the future. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks for letting me know. You will be able to join the course now through the same link. If you experience any more problems, let me know. Best wishes Rupert
... much as I like theory, I believe that understanding the spoken form of a language is a holistic mental process and cannot be taught / learned ´per partes´ ... to paraphrase a Czech joke: even a thorough knowledge and creative application of the Archimedes´ principle cannot save one from drowning ...
There's some truth in what you say. Teachers like me can teach you things to help "speed up" the process, but ultimately speaking is like a muscle - it needs exercise, and no one sees it grow 🙂
Hi Rupert, I have a doubt in this sentence. " Harry is at pains to point out that, where the tabloids never sought permission to splash surreptitiously snatched images of him as a child across their front pages, he is consenting to the use of intimate footage of his kids in a documentary. Could you explain the usage of the preposition "as" 1. Is it describing that when he was a child the tabloids used to function like this? 2. Is it describing that the secretly taken childhood images of him are portrayed? Waiting for your answer🙂
Hi! Here, the words in the phrase "images of him as a child" need to be considered together. It means "images of him in the state of being a child" (so photos of him when he was a child). Hope that helps 🙂
Thanks a lot sir. I would entreat you to make many more videos of this sort. Very pivotal to understanding native speakers. Bow to you.
Make thanks for your kind comment! It is good to know this type of video has been useful. Best wishes Rupert
