- These are eight unused/alternate Deltarune songs that Toby Fox showed at the start of the Undertale anniversary stream.
Unfortunately, they are not avaliable in higher quality at the minute, which is quite a shame - I hope Toby posts high quality downloads of them soon, but I doubt he will. The School Theme especially is wayyy to bassy. These are still really cool and exciting to hear though, and they definitely made the wait for the anniversary worth it (even though the livestream isn't over yet!)

You literally get stuck for 10 or more in ch1 in one scene about joining the party, Toby argument makes no sense
@@dedo9990 Yeah, that's also true (Happens 2 times in Chapter 1), not counting the Interrupted "Candy joined the party" dialogue nor even Susie's official joined party jingle (At the Elevator to the Castle).
Specifically the Fanfare's length is exactly 10 seconds. The slightly slower version is roughly 11 seconds.
@@dedo9990 Those early ones are meant to be comedic and are awkward on purpose. That would take away from the moment if he did it in the elevator one with Susie.

@@dedo9990 That's kind of the point. If you hadn't noticed a lot of Toby's humor is pointless, repeated or annoying jokes, much like Sans', where a lot of the payoff is just your time being wasted (good example: the bird in Waterfall). I mean, his avatar is the "annoying dog" for a reason.
The unused Legend honestly sounds more depressing, like Ralsei telling a story of how the world became so corrupt and broken, rather than the hopeful prophecy he talked about in the original.
Hell, it could be the theme to a story the Knight tells...

I feel like he could use it in the final chapter, in a moment where everybody gathers before fighting the final boss.

The unused version of The Legend sounds melancholy to me ,like it would play in an alternate universe were the world is getting torn apart and you failed

I could see Epic Rouxls Battle working for a battle in a different sense. Rather than fight you himself he just ups his puzzle game and puts you through a puzzle gauntlet in a similar vein to Undertale’s tile puzzle when Mettaton tried roasting Frisk. Works with his namesake too, he may not be a playable card, but he should be feared as the one that makes the rules.

Unused fountain is the best thing out of all these and I'm glad that Toby is potentially adding it somewhere in the game

A leitmotif is a motif that is reoccurring throughout a track and symbolizes something. Like an object, person, or idea. I always use the theme for the One Ring in Lord of the Rings as an example. Motifs in general don't necessarily represent anything.

Everyone's saying the Legend unused sounds depressing and melancholy but I think the opposite. To me it sounds triumphant and victorious. Like something that might play at the end of the game. Weird.

The unused version of the legend reminds me of Bergentrückung, in a way. It sounds like the version that would play right before the final battle.

Seeing any sort of new content from Toby Fox brings out an indescribable amount of joy from me, I'm glad we finally get to have a look at some more unused DeltaRune concepts
Out of all these songs, my favorites are probably the Rouxls Battle Theme and the Piano Sketch
This comment makes me feel like we were satisfied just getting scraps and now Toby is pulling out the full-course meal
An animated intro sound so cool and I really hope that toby is able to pull it off in the final product

I think they mean Spamton, who has multiple very short songs that aren’t used more than once iirc. You’ve got Hey Every !!, A Real Boy!!, Spamton, and maybe Dialtone? Idk honestly

The King battle seems like a variant where the King is being depicted in a more heroic light, or at least a more desperate light. It'd make sense it'd be changed, but I somehow would imagine that it could be used in some situation where the King had to deal with someone worse than he is...
That animated intro mentioned for the Main Game Theme bit sounds amazing. Wonder if we'll get that for the full release.
The original arrangements for "Chaos King" and "The Legend" are just amazing to me. Chaos King would fit a less brutal King of Spades, but not the one in the final game. It's still great.
The original version of "The Legend" is beautiful. More foreboding than the final one, and personally I think it'd fit better at the beginning of, or near the end of the final chapter of the game. Like, "there's the end, go get it!"
I'm really hoping the unused fountain theme shows up somewhere in a future chapter. It's beautiful and mysterious.

Also, the Legend is my absolute favorite. So it's nice to hear it in different variations and that one little cameo in the unused Chaos King.
I don't know if I prefer Epic Rouxls Battle or It's Pronounced "Rules".
I just love the epicness of the former, and it would be funny to hear it in a non-serious moment, but the later embraces the "funny" aspect more (and that pirate thematic gets me, please someone tell me how this genre is called).
I would love to see a theme with the pirate thematic of IP"R" but with the epicness of ERB.

Also would love to see the Deltarune intro Toby talked about and possibly every boss from each chapter stay as silhouettes until you beat that chapter. Then everytime you see the intro, you would see the bosses you have beaten and the silhouettes of the bosses you haven't met yet.

I wish checkerboard got in, the area being so quiet was oddly eerie(even compared to the planned track)

I'm really vibing with the WIP of the main theme, like. It's just more groove-able, and I really love the mental image at the end Toby described. Maybe one day, when the full game is out, we'll get that animation

Yeah, in fact the epic rouxls battle theme would have the same effect as Power of NEO did in Undertale.
To me, I can hear that unused Chaos King fight being used for something like a battle against the Knight. The motif of Legend and the imposing booming can work for something like that, like as if the Legend is unfolding before the heros, and a climactic foretold battle is finally happening where an end to the prophecy comes forth
That description for the Main Theme with all the boss silhouettes and the knight on top of the stairs seems so cool

The main game song would actually be perfect for the end credits for chapter 7.

I feel like the Rouxls theme may return at some point in the game to accompany Rouxls doing something appropriately epic... or not so epic.
Same with a few of the other tracks; the Legend one especially, perhaps as part of a twist or revelation that'll happen in the future
Please... praying to GOD we get a fully animated cutscene of the game at the very beginning, with the characters doing stuff in the artstyle of the album covers and such... with that ending shot of the knight and the bosses sounding... so, so cool.
The amount of theme’s Toby made for Legend really drives home how important of a story moment the legend is.
I can see some of these songs in future chapters. Ex: The Legend (unused) would be great for the scene before the final battle, and the unused fountain can be used for the final fountain.
Toby says at the Main Game Theme that he pictures the knight turning around and looking at the characters coming up the staircase. If this is true, that means, a design for "The Knight" is a thing that exists. The real question is....WHO THE HELL IS THE KNIGHT?! WHAT DOES HE LOOK LIKE?!?!?!!!
Here's a hint: WE HAVEN'T SEEN PAPYRUS IN THE GAME, ISN'T THAT A BIT... SUSSY?!

5:42 Sounds like a tune that could play when the dark prophesy is coming true, the world is on the brink of destruction, and it seems there's nothing our heroes can do to stop it.
Sometimes when I see this game and hear the music I get so nostalgic, sad and also happy at the same time... I just can't describe it...
I adore the main theme wip version, I can definitely imagine in my head what he was thinking when arranging that track

Of all the catchy tunes Toby has whipped up, the beginning/main theme of Deltarune is the one that has wrapped itself into my brain so tightly that I often find myself humming that leitmotif. Once chapter 2 drops, we will likely have to deal with it all over again, lol.

I hope some of these themes come back in some form, (particularly the old fountain theme I feel like that could be used somewhere else) and I also think it would be cool if when the game is finally complete the intro should be fully implemented, that would just be so cool.

If he continues throwing in a random Rouxls Kaard battle every chapter (which I really hope he does), I could easily see it all leading up to this unused theme being implemented in Chapter 7 for the final fight.
Fun idea I stole from some comment on the Deltarune subreddit. What if Rouxls is actually incredibly strong and an extremely skilled fighter but doesn't think he's as good at it as he is with puzzles. So down the line at some point he runs out of puzzles and decides to resort to fighting us and turns out to be a hard as hell boss fight. Then we get to see the OG battle theme.
The alternate legend could definitely work as a culminating moment, but yeah the original works more to introduce the setting and sense of adventure for what lies ahead
I hope toby makes use of the piano version of the main theme after completing all 7 chapters, as like a sweet goodbye.
