Why we all know Protoss is so underpowered
@hiramrichmond3341 also when you get genuinely good at something, getting beat tends to be more interesting than winning.
Figuring out where you or they made mistakes and finding a solution is what makes strategy so rewarding.
I came for the dirty protoss cheese and was not disappointed. 🧀🧀🧀
that first game was an absolute treat hahaha amazing
that moment when cure wanted to counterattack but the entire p base was already destroyed was pure gold :D
It's like Maplez also won game 3 in a strategic sense but was not able to convert it into victory
The Starcraft community has optimized the fun out of this game to the point where using a strategy that isn't in the approved handbook is considered dirty play.
I remember watching these games live on the Cranky Duck stream. I am aware of plently of players not quite in the professional scene, but this was my first time watching Maplez. I was pleasantly surprised! GG Maplez and Cure!
Marauders are such a hard counter to Stalkers. It hurts so bad watching Protoss players respond to Marauders by simply feeding them more Stalkers.
WoL tells you this on the third mission as well

Toss units are just bad in current meta :( even pro players are talking about it at this point lolol.
stalkers are fun unit to play but when you compare them with hydras/roaches/marines/tanks its like
50 stalkers shot once killing two units and half of them dies xD
We see so much red and blue; the gold protoss looks pretty sick

Those tempest were great and the glaived adept were truly spicy. So much damage but stalker followup really let it down
Maplez did the reasonable move of going cheese/all-ins and not a long drawn macro game. The number of events requiring attention is lower in the early game, where I see the Pro/GM gap is at its minimum. The no-attention on the widow mine in the last game showed the chaos in which Maplez's APM could no longer cope.
Maplez was great.
It is good to see new or unique strategies really push the top level players.
I really love all the crazy stuff we've been seeing lately. That as really fun to watch.
I’m Canadian so I have a bias but I think Maples needs some more screen time he put in a seriously solid set against cure.
Honestly maple deserved the win here, they mostly lost because they just had worse control in the second game when it came to the anti armor missiles, but that was a great game and it's wonderful to see a non pro nearly beating someone on cures level in a bo3
Watched this on Pig's channel, but that game 1 was so good, I had to see your take as well. :D Just wanted to mention that in that game Maplez also did some solid Adept micro, baiting mine shots from the high ground, the man was really on it.

I find it insulting that a 2WM drop, which is a very cheap, very low commit, can deal as much, or close to as much damage as a 30+ glaive and +1 adepts, which is a huge commit.
From the lofty heights of 🌩*plat*🌩 I have a question: does the new tempest buff mean the rush time for the tempest is way faster if you don't proxy? how many seconds slower is a buffed tempest from your base than an old tempest from a proxy a few bases out from the enemy base?
Shouldn't be too different, they reach top speed faster now, which mostly affects micro, not overall movement speed

Raven missle is good but not a key in game 3 though - Maple's army supply is only half of Cure's when that fight started. Between 28:15 and 29:20 he couldn't pull himself out of the Adept glory and lost the prism and almost all newly built units (6 adepts) in this one minute, resulting in his army supply went from 32 to 35, while Cure's MMM grew from 30 to 68. This was when Cure had 20+ less workers. It's the basic stuff-making difference between a real pro and who isn't.
It doesn't matter that Cure had 20 less workers, Terran can just drop mules which is exactly what Cure did and it meant his mineral rate was able to keep pace with Maple's mineral rate despite all the SCVs Maple killed with his adepts.
You can just scratch the economy part, doesn't matter, not important. Having same income for a minute, one's army size doubled and the other grew by two stalkers. @@doltecbyal

wasn't the first game premature? I mean.. you can spam alot of marines to take out those flying units.
Not fast enough to prevent the tempest from clearing the barrack. They had the double dmg vs buildings upgrade.
+ marines would get snipped the second they step out of production
It's like watching a bronze player go against a grandmaster. Toss player is sloppy compared to others.

Mine's require zero actions APM to use. I don't think they should be in SCII. People say terran require high amounts of micro. Well, that's not very true since a lot of the damage is by AUTO fire from mines. Without mines i could guess zero PRO terrans in SCII top 10.
all other units in the game require a committed action from the user. As of now. Terran is not a balanced race.
