    Wow... I didn't even know this existed. I record music and the topic of sound treatment is one that gets highly scrutinized in that world. While paint isn't going to tackle the biggest offenders of of lows and low-mids, this could be a great way of reducing flutter echo and high-end reflections in conjunction with more traditional ways of doing so; foam, blackout curtains and so on. And the best part- paint is something any and every room needs regardless of usage and needs.
    Thanks for the info!

    I played with a band who rented a large studio apartment separated from the owners' house.
    We collected molded cardboard egg crates and tacked them to the walls and ceiling, totally covering all interior surfaces.
    It deadened sound unbelievably, both for recording and keeping the peace with the landlord.
    Spray painted over them with latex.
    Looked good, performed great.
    Only expense was tacks and paint.

    Very interesting. I had written this type of product off since it couldn’t add enough mass to effectively block lower frequencies, and because I expected it to be expensive for the performance. But 12dB of reduction is nothing to sneeze at! Guess I should look at the specs, but if the max effect is focused around 2-3kHz it seems like a real solution for a lot of situations.

    • @soundproofguide
      @soundproofguide  4 роки тому +4

      True! Make sure to add AT LEAST 3 coats of this stuff to get any type of results however. Some people that complains that it doesn’t work usually only added 1 or 2 coats of paint. Of course it’s not a miracle product but as you know, when it comes to soundproofing, every bit helps.

      @@suadaprevljak1824 The answer is kind of. Paint would not stop sounds that are a result of impact (doors hitting cabinet that is attached to the wall). The only way to reduce noise through impact is to use materials that decouple the wall (separate the layers).
      For the dishes banging together, the paint would likely help. Dishes create higher frequency noise, and those soundwaves travel through the air instead of through solid objects due to impact.

    • @soundproofguide
      @soundproofguide  4 роки тому +3

      Not really. Those are hard to fix if the people are upstairs because the best way to fix that is by adding more mass like an extra layer of drywall to the ceiling coupled with some resilient channel. Of course you wouldn’t want to pour money into a place you don’t necessarily own so those options would be off the table. This is a tough one. Maybe talk to your landlord. They might be willing to accommodate you if you’re a long term tenant. Just ask if they can fix up one room to keep cost down. Worst they can say is no.

It doesn't exist you can poor 8" thick cement walls with 4" gaps and poor 3 layers of these 8" thick cement walls so 3 walls plus 3 4" air gaps and you my friend will still not achieve "sound proof".The best solution for you is just to MOVE! In fact stop wasting your money and just buy a house. Other than that your always going to hear footsteps, squeaking, talking, laughing. The real question is do you want the joke to be on YOU? • @johnlane2395
    @johnlane2395 4 роки тому

    it is wrong to use sound proof as the wording, sound reinforcement is the proper term, it is not sufficient enough in mass to provide any noticeable difference in sound and is not noticeable, only with fft or spl meters, better to hang acoustic curtains or acoustic absorbing tapestries, the wall does not need paint it needs inwall sound proofing, if you are using a paint as a budget solution it is minimal at best, never used paint in studios to block energy from the barrier, preventing energy(sound) bleeding through on either side.

    None of the people shown rolling paint has ever painted anything before. The little kid is doing the best job. The girl listening to music on her phone while painting is not getting anything painted. She paints like a model or possibly a stripper they got to pretend she's painting. The painting job is so bad its hilarious. I also liked the guy and girl in coveralls rolling the same wall right next to each other. If they were actually painting the room, they would each be painting a different wall so they don't get in each others way. hang a blanket or carpet on the wall and its going to reduce echo a lot more than paint.

      A bookcase is actually the best idea if you've got one. Towels are good as well if you stuff em inside a massive canvas but definitely fill in the cracks on the floor boards cos that's where most noise escapes. A big rug would do the job

  • @Fubuki43
    @Fubuki43 7 місяців тому

    Complete nonsense. If you’re interested in sound proofing or acoustic treatment, do some research. You’ll learn that for sound proofing you need a wall with a lot of mass, it needs to be airtight and decoupled from all other walls and ceilings. And for acoustic treatment you will need insulation material (like rock wool) that is thick enough to absorb 1/4 of the wavelength. Only with 6 inch panels made of rock wool will there be any effect in the bass frequencies. So long story short: this paint won’t help with soundproofing, nor will it have any major effects for acoustic treatment (besides in the high frequencies).
