Great video. I’ve just bought one of these moulds and while waiting for it to come, I found this video. Really looking forward to making some now and using them off my kayak. Thank you.
They should be great fun to use off the kayak. Glad you enjoyed the video. If you haven't subscribed to the channel, I would really appreciate it if you could drop me a sub. Thanks 👍🎣

That video was ace Carl. Thanks for sharing 👍 You should sell a few of them.I would definitely have a few off you matey!!
Thanks for watching 👍
those jigs reminded me of the whitby Darleks of the 70's 2 flying hooks at the top to help stop it fouling on the wrecks ......... the other name was "rippers" as they seemed to catch a lot of foul hooked fish
I have used rippers in the past but not Whitby darleks. I do agree with you that the rippers do foul hook a lot of fish. 👍
Another good vid mate hopefully get those biggies 👍
Thanks mate, and yes let's hope we see some biggies come out this year.👍🎣
Nice looking jigs well done good video
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Following a similar path to you with what looks like the same moulds. The jig skins are good but rather expensive, so I'm looking for cheaper alternatives. Good old fashioned (ultra clear), varnish is something I might resort to!
I got some clear heat shrink tube from China, it was a little thicker than the jig skins, but when you put the boiling water on it went rock hard. I will play around some more with them when I have got time and try them on different lead jigs and see what happens. Varnish is a good option to use. TBH if my lead jigs get a bit beaten up I just melt them down and turn them into something else, that's the fun of it. Let me know how you get on experimenting with different coatings I am always looking for different ways of doing things. 👍
Really cool. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks 👍
Hi keep videos coming just need to ask you where is the best and easiest access to launch kayak from without it killing me I've got gallaxy sturgeon and is it best to launch when tides on way in thanks
Hi Craig, it all depends on what location you are fishing to tides. Some places fish better on the flood and some better on the ebb tide. As to location I presume you are on the east coast somewhere between Bridlington and Whitby, so an easy launch would be Scarborough South Bay. Great in winter months as easy parking but horrible in summer as full of tourist. Scarborough north bay is ok as well quite an easy launch, everywhere else usually means a killer hill to pull the kayak up afterwards. Hope this helps 👍
@@KayakFishingCentral hi thanks for info sorry location I'm thinking is Skegness up and towards Scarborough I do like Runswick but it kill me just walking back up hill in my waders after fishing rock marks cheers
Not sure on locations down your neck of the woods, but I have fished Withernsea and that is an easy launch. Expect lots of doggies, bass, cod, mackerel in summer and tope. 👍
I was wondering if this mould could be used to make silicone lures? enjoyed the video.
Problem with using lead moulds is if they are pitted the silicone will stick to the mould and you will be left with a messy mould. You would have to put release spray on it or Vaseline to stop it sticking , problem is that when you use the mould for lead casting you could have problems when you pour hot lead into it if it's greasy. I just make moulds out of plaster of paris and make my own silicone lures, it's a lot easier. Glad you enjoyed the video, hopefully fishing videos soon 👍🎣
Hi...great video! Do you have link of clear heat shrink tube you mentioned?
Hi, google sea booms.com and look on the Ebay link (catchfish). Look for slow jigs, they the have the jigskinz listed with them. I looked on Ebay and found some other heat shrink clear wrapping that was slightly thicker but worked just as well, and works out a lot cheaper and you can buy it by the meter. Item no 264959464053 select clear. Hope this helps.
Hi what is the name of the mold for this jig, where can I buy the mold
Hi mate it’s a slow pitch jig and you can buy them from www.seabooms.com
Where did you get the mold from
Have a look on eBay for slow jigs or seaboons and you should find the mould.
@@KayakFishingCentral Hey what gauge wire is that
1.6mm but you could get away with 1.2 mm .
@@KayakFishingCentral Well s*** looks like I'm having to go to the store All I got is 1.0
Probably get away with that, just try it before you buy any more wire.
have you got a link where u got that thicker heat shrink wrap from, thanx😀
The link no longer exists, but I bought 0.08mm pvc 2:1 heat shrink tube ( clear) of eBay. It came from china at the time. It really could have done to be about 0.06 to shrink around the lure a bit better. Only other way is to buy from sea booms on eBay but it can get quite costly if you have a lot of lures to do. 👍
@@KayakFishingCentral orderd mine now, like you said seabooms i get transfers from, just orderd 5m of 32mm clear shrink tube for batteries,6 quid, should work a treat, thanx and tight lines!😀
Tight lines buddy 👍
Hello mate, sorry to hijack your chat, but do you have a link for the shrink tube, can't seem to find it anywhere, cheers
Sorry mate but the link no longer exists, but if you go back through the comments on here you will see a reply I did for 686bim a couple of days ago, it has all the info I have on the shrink tubes. I haven’t used it in awhile as I epoxy my jigs now.
that film isnt shrinking down on the ends,,,
Like I said in the video, it’s a lot thicker heat shrink than the jig skins that I previously used. It’s not designed to make the lure waterproof only to protect the lure from being knocked about when using them.
where do you get these molds?
I think I have already answered that in the previous comments.
Did they fish??
I only used them once on a day it was raining hard and I caught a couple of small codling. Unfortunately the video wasn’t any good as water all over the camera lens so I didn’t include it in any video. I was meant to do a video just fishing with them but never got around to it, maybe one for next year.
@@KayakFishingCentral just got the mold myself, trying to work out which is the top of the jig 😆
I’ve got the same mould the “top” we’re you attach the hooks is the end that looks the narrowest, it kind of flattens off a bit. I found 4/0 assist goons of eBay work with the 100g mould
