@@justten6053 The Commander Rules Committee (that Jim was a part of) banned Nadu, Mana Crypt, Dockside and Jeweled Lotus a couple of weeks ago. The Rules Committee got death threats over this, and as a result of those death threats the Rules Committee has dissolved and Wizards of the Coast is going to take over control of the Commander format.
The threat assessment was pretty funny. Yeah, Wick will definitely storm off soon, but the squirrels don't have a food so there's no way they'd get a food.
Maddy the deck did not disappoint! Definitely the same experience I had with the deck - it’s sadly quite inconsistent despite having so many layered combos. I realised it isn’t the type of gameplay I enjoy which is why I took it apart. Aristocrats is still one of my favourite archetypes though, and enjoyed it doing its thing in someone else’s hands!
1:32 speaking of mixing foodstuffs that wouldnt typically be mixed, i had the idea this morning of making spaghetti, but instead of ground beef/italian sausage and marinara, use chopped brisket/pulled pork and bbq sauce. This idea came about because i bought my first house early this year and have financially recovered enough, finally, to have bought myself a pellet grill and pondering what things i could do now that i have access to homemade smoked meats.
I'm glad to see the Nethroi Modular deck come together after also having the idea put in my head a while ago. Even though Jim didn't win, it looks super fun to play, and I want to build it myself now

In game 2 when Jim Darksteel Mutations Arwen why does it remain a 3/3? I though both the base power setting effects are the same layer so they happen in timestamp order, so Kudo makes it a 2/2 then Darstell Mutation makes it a 0/1. Obviously the counter is there whichever but shouldn't it be a 1/2?
Not the best with layers, but kudo has one ability that sets the type (layer 4) and the power/toughness (layer 7). Because it is one ability that does both setting the type and the power, and because setting the type applys on layer 4, its base power remains 2/2. Edit: just realized darksteel mutation also changes the type to insect in the same block as it changes p/t. Therefor it should indeed also apply on layer 4 and be base 0/1
It wouldn't remain a 3/3, you use timestamp order for multiple things which set p/t. And no, it doesn't matter that either ability has effects at layer 4 - if an ability has effects at several different layers, the only special thing is that once it's had one of those effects it will also have the others even if it would stop applying for some reason, each individual layer still goes in timestamp order (barring CDAs or dependencies, neither of which were here).

That Nethroi deck is sick, I'm playing Omarthis modular right now but this has me tempted to switch
