For example, the statue of Jackson was put up to honor his winning the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812, well before the Civil War began. It should stay up. And I don't care that George Washington owned slaves, that is not why we honor him. His statue should never have been taken down. Nor should that of Junipero Serra.
