    I don't have a 500i, but I do have a 20 year old MS-290 that still runs like a champ!!
Gotta admit I use my old Echo saws more than anything though (CS-670 with 24 or 27" bar, and CS-8000 with a 36" bar)

I just went and got a load of cherry from my usual guy. Half a facecord ended up being most of a facecord, as we ended up just throwing the whole pile in my truck. Around half is shorties and cutoffs- which is why we both kinda gave up on measuring, lol. This is grill wood, so GREAT!
Around us, the logging industry is mainly designed around hardwood. For pallets, furniture, etc. not pulp. So, even though cherry is a common species, it is FAR more valuable as saw logs than firewood. What we get to cut up is mainly tops, rejects, and yard trees. Most firewood sellers would faint with delight to get a load like yours!!
Anyway, I asked, and my guy says he buys a lot of cutoffs, etc from sawmills for his mixed and bbq wood, to add to what he gets from his own timber. Which is why there are so many chunks, shorts, longs, and uglies. I always assumed it was tree service wood, and his guys just REALLY liked him, lol ( its all premium species)
Anyway, if you live in an area where theres lots of hardwood logging and sawing, that might be a good source for wood for mini firewood. The cutoffs are all 4-8" thick, and there are lots of them. The rest are 12-24". Trim cuts from sawing specific length lumber. The cutoffs I split into mini firewood for grilling, anyway- so I'm delighted to take those! It was awesome to get so many Cherry ones!
Since my truck was mostly full, we just went ahead and threw in chunks of Sugar Maple until it was totally full. Twist my arm, why dontcha?😅
A poor man's way of making mini wood: split regular rounds to the desired size, and use a chop saw to cut into 4-5" pieces. If you dont happen to own a processor, that is. Up to you to decide if the premium price is worth the extra work. If its for YOUR mini burner, then darn strait.

Beautiful looking Load of Cherry Wood Dan. Will make a lot of Mini Firewood for you. Like myself when I get a load of Logs from my Tree Service Fellow, Locust and Oak. Cut it know more than 10inches now. Keep it separated and put it in my Stove 2 Oak, and 1 Locust. The Heat is on next Week, so cutting on Saturday, getting it in the Split and Stack next to the Stove Downstairs, depending on dryness of it. In the meantime stay Safe and Well hydrated my Friend. See you tomorrow Night. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.

As soon as I saw the dump trailer full of logs, I said "Cherry wood!" Man, I could make a lot of BBQ Smoker wood out of that pile!! Enjoy!
Q: How do you deal with the cherry bark, and outer sapwood?
I have been splitting that off, in standard 20" lengths, and burning in my fire pit, and selling for others fire pits.
THEN (extra work) I process down the cherry heartwood, into 10" lengths, and bag it, for BBQ smoker wood.
Would be great to see the next steps you take, especially once it comes off the Japa.

My kids bought me a Stihl saw for Father's Day one year...I put them up for adoption the following Monday! I will be available to cut and split all of this coming weekend this year!
Nice load of Cherry, Dan! The only downfall with it is the tops and branches that do like to twist n turn when growing!
