I’ve been jobless for 7 months, I’ve run out of unemployment and had to reapply again and these job postings are nothing but wasting peoples time! I am one of those people who has applied and received a decline email within 5 mins! Like why are these companies wasting peoples time and energy! CEOs are making all time high salaries, jobs are literally in overseas and taxes are killing people.

Here's some advice that will serve you well in the future. When you lose any job, you must dedicate your whole effort to searching for a replacement job. Waiting until unemployment benefits end before resuming a job search is a huge mistake. The longer you remain unemployed, the less attractive you become to potential employers.

Unfortunately the applicant tracking systems filter those who don’t already have a job or a 6 month deadline. Since they assume something is wrong with you you are now unemployable. Take temp jobs where you won’t be filtered out. It sucks bet temp work will close the gap on your resume

Same here. Unemployed for 7 months. It's really not about talent IMO. There are not "A ton of super talented people" in the way. They hired in preparation of riots not a functioning economy. And you know wtf I mean by that. 94%.

@@gezenews It took 5 years for me to recover from 2009 but I eventually found full time work. HR is strict. If you have gaps they do not want to hire. Contract stuff sucks but HR will look the other way if you have a gap ... less than 6 months still lol.
Do help desk. Substitute teach. Do something. Yes life sucks but it doesn't have to stay forever. It takes 7 years to recover from a lay off. I know that is not what you want to hear but need to hear. I recovered and you will too! But, turn off I am worth X blinders. No you are not. You are unemployed so cut your number to 1/2.

its rough right now. And it is really unfortunate, because I remember about 5 years ago everyone was telling people who were about to go into college to go for engineering or data science because it will basically guarantee you a job. Now the new grads are REALLY suffering since there is practically 0 junior roles.

Can you say Section 174? These layoffs come close on the heels of corporate tax filings. I'm certain that most businesses were surprised by the additional federal income taxes due as a result of the amortization of R&D expenses incurred within these United States over 5 years, or over 15 years when U.S. companies perform R&D in foreign countries.
I was blind-sided by Section 174. It has resulted in my decision to cease all development on a software product that I rolled out in 2021. I had plans to add new features to the application this year, including integrating it with several third-party applications.
Section 174 is going to greatly reduce innovation by U.S. companies. Over time, the lower investment in R&D will trickle down to impact other jobs in the economy.

It is the superior IT sector to be in (SWEs are in for a rude awakening because their era of free money and "over-employment" is finally over), but major hacks need to happen first before C-Suite execs take it seriously by allocating their budgets to it.
