Downers Grove IL 2nd Alarm Church Fire 7-29-24

- At 6:10am on Monday, July 29th, 2024, the Downers Grove FD was dispatched to 525 63rd street for a fire alarm. While enroute, PD advised heavy smoke and fire showing from the church and the alarm was upgraded to a structure fire. Engine 105 arrived at 6:15am with fire thru the roof, Battalion 100 arrived a minute later and upgraded to a Box alarm. The alarm was ultimately upgraded to a 2nd alarm. 2 tower ladders and numerous hand lines were used to contain the fire, which was reported to be gas fed.

I am a proud member of this (Good Shepherd) church. The roof caved in, so the fire fighters were forced to evacuate the building. We had church service in the parking lot this morning. The church building suffered major damage but God's people are stronger and will survive.

@@ffjsb what job a firefighter I did it for 8 years snowflake ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ and the union firefighter were trying to kill the part time FF so that's why they don't have any help they got rid of it over a million firefighter with firefighter 2 and EMT so don't cry for FDNY their pension are killing New York
😮 That’s not good. Downers Grove was the 1st to be dispatched to this scene. Other towns that border Downers Grove quickly pitched in to help!
What's not good? I mean anytime fire consumes something it's bad but am I missing something else?
Gas fed fires are never a good sign 😮.
